In this work, we studied the peristaltic flow of a Jeffrey‐six constant fluid in a uniform tube. The governing equations of the Jeffrey‐six constant fluid were simplified by using the assumptions of long wave length and low Reynolds number approximation. The simplified form of equations were solved using the perturbation, homotopy analysis and finite difference methods. The comparison of the three solutions are shown graphically. The variation of pressure rise and frictional forces with the different parameters were also examined numerically. Results are presented at the end of the article. In the present article, we have studied the effects of inclined magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of Jeffrey fluid through the gap between two coaxial inclined tubes. The inner tube is rigid, whereas the outer tube has sinusoidal wave traveling down its wall. The governing equations are simplified using long wave length and low Reynolds number approximations. Exact and numerical solutions have been derived for velocity profile. The expressions for pressure rise and friction force are calculated using numerical integration. In this study, we report the effects of adding ionic liquids (ILs), as compared to adding conventional molecular organic solvents (MOSs), to aqueous buffer solutions containing molecular micelles in the separation of chiral analyte mixtures in micellar EKC (MEKC). The molecular micelle used in this study was polysodium oleyl-L-leucylvalinate (poly-L-SOLV). The ILs were 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, where the alkyl group was ethyl, butyl, hexyl, or octyl. These ILs were chosen due to their hydrophobicity, good solvating, and electrolyte properties. Thus, it was expected that these ILs would have favorable interactions with chiral analytes and not adversely affect the background current. Common CE buffers, mixed with a molecular micelle, and an IL or a MOS, were used for these chiral separations. The buffers containing an IL in the concentration range of 0.02-0.1 v/v were found to support a reasonable current when an electric field strength of 500 V/cm was applied across the capillary. However, a current break down was observed for the buffers containing more than 60% v/v MOS on application of the above-mentioned electric field. The chiral resolution and selectivity of the analytes were dependent on the concentration and type of IL or MOS used.  相似文献

This study investigates the peristaltic flow of Eyring–Powell fluid in an endoscope. The governing equations for Eyring–Powell are modeled in cylindrical coordinates under the assumption of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. The resulting nonlinear differential equations are solved analytically and numerically by employing perturbation method and shooting technique. Numerical integration have been done for pressure rise and frictional forces. Comparative study have been made for both the solutions to see the validity of the results. The effects of various emerging parameters are investigated for five different peristaltic waves. (Basically peristaltic phenomena is a natural phenomena so it is not necessary that peristaltic wave be always a sinusoidal wave it could be multisinusoidal, triangular, trapezoidal and square waves for example heartbeats.) In the present investigation, we have studied the effects of mixed convection heat and mass transfer on peristaltic flow of Williamson fluid model in a vertical annulus. The governing equations of Williamson fluid model are simplified using the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynold’s number. An approximated analytical and numerical solutions are found for the velocity field using (i) Perturbation method (ii) Shooting method. The comparisons of analytical and numerical solutions have been presented. The expressions for pressure rise, velocity against various physical parameter are discussed through graphs.  相似文献

In the present investigation we have studied the combined heat and mass transfer effects on the peristaltic flow of non-Newtonian fluid. The governing equations are simplified under the assumptions of longwave length low Reynold’s number approximation. The resulting highly nonlinear equations are solved analytically and numerically. Charged polymer brushes grafted to surfaces are of great interest for antibacterial, biosensor, nanofluidic, and drug delivery applications. In this paper, chitosans with quaternary ammonium salts, CH-Q, were immobilized on silicon oxide and characterized by in situ quartz-crystal microbalance with dissipation, QCM-D, and in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry, SE. Both methods showed that the hydrated film exhibited a minimum thickness of ~40 nm near pH 5 that increased strongly (up to ~80 nm) at lower and higher pH. This symmetric swelling is surprising because CH-Q is a cationic polymer. The CH-Q grafted layer was stable for pH values from 3 to 8 and exhibited rapid, reversible swelling and contraction upon varying pH. The CH-Q layer also reduced S. aureus colonization by a factor of ~30× compared to bare silicon oxide and an amine terminated silane grafted to silicon oxide. This antibacterial characteristic of CH-Q is attributed to the quaternary ammonium salts and the flexible polymer brush.  相似文献
