Foremost, practical applications of spin-crossover (SCO) materials require control of the nature of the spin-state coupling. In existing SCO materials, there is a single, well-defined dimensionality relevant to the switching behavior. A new material, consisting of 1,2,4-triazole-based trimers coordinated into 1D chains by [Au(CN)2]− and spaced by anions and exchangeable guests, underwent SCO defined by elastic coupling across multiple dimensional hierarchies. Detailed structural, vibrational, and theoretical studies conclusively confirmed that intra-trimer coupling was an order of magnitude greater than the intramolecular coupling, which was an order of magnitude greater than intermolecular coupling. As such, a clear hierarchy on the nature of elastic coupling in SCO materials was ascertained for the first time, which is a necessary step for the technological development of molecular switching materials. 相似文献

Dielectric relaxation measurements of methyl cellulose with substituted phenols p-cresol, m-cresol and o-cresol mixture in different non-polar solvents CCl4, benzene and 1,4-dioxan for different concentrations over the frequency range of 10 MHz–20 GHz at 303 K have been carried out using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). Dielectric parameters such as static permittivity (ε0) and relaxation time (τ) were determined and discussed to yield information on the molecular structure and dynamics of the mixture. Though a minor component by volume, platelets can have a profound influence on the flow characteristics of blood and thereby have serious consequences with regard to cardiovascular functions. Platelets are extremely sensitive to chemical agents as well as mechanical inputs and platelet activation is a necessary precursor to many life threatening medical conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, most strokes, acute arterial occlusion, venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. In cardiovascular devices such as ventricular assist devices and prosthetic heart valves, high shear stresses can trigger platelet activation. Moreover, such devices have artificial surfaces that are thrombogenic, the thrombotic deposition contributing to the failure of the device. Thus, there is a need to develop a mathematical model for the flow of blood that takes into account platelet activation, no such model being available at the moment. While there has been considerable amount of work in blood rheology, the role of platelets in the flow characteristics of blood has been largely ignored. This study addresses this lacuna. New complexes of MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII, and CdII with bis(acetophenone) ethylenediamine and 5-chlorosalicylideneaniline or 5-bromosalicylideneaniline have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analyses, magnetic measurements, electronic and i.r. spectra. The antimicrobial activities of the complexes, ligands, control (dimethyl formamide) and metal salts were tested against Salmonella typhi (bacteria), Saccharomyces cerevisae (yeast), and two fungal species Lasiodiplodia theobromae and Fusarium oxysporum. The HgO-added YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) superconductor has been studied for its structural and superconducting properties. Polycrystalline YBCO samples were
synthesized through solid-state reaction method by adding HgO in different concentrations without using oxygen annealing.
All the samples showed a sharp superconducting transition temperature around 90 K. The X-ray diffraction patterns of all the
samples revealed monophasic Y-123 nature. The structural studies were carried out by neutron scattering and Rietveld analysis.
The neutron scattering revealed that Hg is not incorporated in the Y-123 system and has shown optimum oxygen concentration.
The significant role played by the HgO is to provide oxygen ambient through its decomposition, thus changing the oxygen balance
in favour of high Cu-valence state. 相似文献
