Synthesis and characterization of diphenylaminodiphenyl stryl based alternating copolymers

Diphenylaminobiphenylated stryl based alternating copolymers with phenyl or fluorene, which were expected to have a terphenylene vinylene backbone containing an (N,N‐diphenylamino)biphenyl pendant and a phenyl/fluorene/phenylene vinylene backbone containing an (N,N‐diphenylamino)biphenyl pendant, were synthesized by a Suzuki coupling reaction. The obtained copolymers were confirmed with various types of spectroscopy. The alternating copolymers showed good hole‐injection properties because of their low oxidation potential and good solubility and high thermal stability with a high glass‐transition temperature. The alternating copolymers showed blue emissions because of the adjusted conjugation lengths; the maximum wavelength was 460 nm for poly{4,4′‐biphenylene‐α‐[4″‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)diphenyl]vinylene‐alt‐5‐(2′‐ethylhexyloxy)‐2‐methoxybenzene} and 487 nm for poly{4,4′‐biphenylene‐α‐[4″‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)diphenyl] vinylene‐alt‐9,9‐dihexylfluorene}. The maximum brightness of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylene dioxythiophene)/polymer/LiF/Al devices with poly{4,4′‐biphenylene‐α‐[4″‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)diphenyl]vinylene‐alt‐5‐(2′‐ethylhexyloxy)‐2‐methoxybenzene} or poly{4,4′‐biphenylene‐α‐[4″‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)diphenyl]vinylene‐alt‐9,9‐dihexylfluorene} as the emitting layer was 250 or 1000 cd/m², respectively. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Measurement of the spectral distribution of a multi-mode dye laser light by using speckle patterns

A simple method of measuring the wavelength γ₁ and the spectral line spacing Δγ of a multi-mode dye laser light by using the correlated speckle patterns produced at the far-field of a diffuser is proposed. Examples of the obtained values of γ₁ and Δγ are 6.0 × 10³ Å and 3.0 × 10¹ Å, respectively.     

Synthesis of 4,5-benzotropones by cyclization of 1,3-bis-silyl enol ethers with 1,2-dialdehydes

The cyclization of 1,3-bis-silyl enol ethers or (2,4-dioxobutylidene)triphenylphosphoranes with phthalic dialdehyde allowed a convenient synthesis of a variety of 4,5-benzotropones. The hydrogenation of benzotropones afforded functionalized benzocycloheptanones which were transformed into tricyclic butenolides.     

Bilepton production in $ e^-\gamma $ collisions

We study the production of bileptons, new gauge bosons of lepton number two, in the minimal 3-3-1 model in high energy collisions. New Deformation of Para-Bose Statistics

We propose commutation relations for a single mode -deformed para-Bose oscillator. In this new deformation of para-Bose statistics the distribution function has the same form as in the para-Bose statistics. Furthermore, we show analogies between the coherent states of -deformed and q-deformed para-Bose statistics.     

The hit problem for the Dickson algebra

Let the mod 2 Steenrod algebra, , and the general linear group, , act on with in the usual manner. We prove the conjecture of the first-named author in Spherical classes and the algebraic transfer, (Trans. Amer. Math Soc. 349 (1997), 3893-3910) stating that every element of positive degree in the Dickson algebra is -decomposable in for arbitrary 2$">. This conjecture was shown to be equivalent to a weak algebraic version of the classical conjecture on spherical classes, which states that the only spherical classes in are the elements of Hopf invariant one and those of Kervaire invariant one.

     

Quantum Monodromy and Bohr–Sommerfeld Rules

This article is based on a talk given in Dijon for the 2000 summer school Topological and Geometrical Methods: Applications to Dynamical Systems. The standard definitions of the monodromy invariant for completely integrable classical systems are reviewed, and the link to the quantum monodromy observed in the joint spectrum of commuting operators is explained. The mathematical treatment relies on a modern and attractive version of the Bohr–Sommerfeld quantisation rules.     

Study on the isomeric ratios of (γ,p) photonuclear reactions with isotopes 40 92 Zr and 74 183 W in the giant dipole resonance region

We have carried out the study on the isomeric ratios in (γ,p) photonuclear reactions with isotopes ₄₀ ⁹² Zr and ₇₄ ¹⁸³ W in the giant dipole resonance (GDR) region. The targets were irradiated with bremsstrahlungs produced by electron accelerator Microtron MT-25 of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Russia. Spectra of the irradiated samples were measured with a spectroscopic system consisting of 8192-channel analyzer CANBERRA and high-energy resolution semiconductor detector CANBERRA. The results were discussed and compared with those of other authors. The text was submitted by the authors in English.     

Structural studies of the chemical constituents of Tithonia tagetiflora Desv. (Asteraceae)

Tithonia tagetiflora Desv. (Asteraceae) is a widespread plant in Vietnam, and the species of Tithonia are known as plants containing many biologically active compounds. However, T. tagetiflora's chemical composition remains mostly unknown. Therefore, we now report the structural elucidation of two new sesquiterpene lactones, 8‐angeloyloxy‐2,14‐epoxygermacra‐4,10(1),11(13)‐trien‐6,12‐olide (1) and 6‐angeloyloxy‐1‐hydroxy‐3,4‐epoxygermacra‐9,11(13)‐dien‐8,12‐olide (2), together with three known compounds, including two norisoprenoids, (6S,9S)‐vomifoliol or (6R,9R)‐vomifoliol (3) and (6S,9S)‐roseoside (4), and one glutinane type triterpene, epi‐glutinol (5), from the leaves of T. tagetiflora. Synthesis of polynorbornene‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) nanoparticles with original morphologies by tandem ROMP and ATRP in microemulsion

Composite latex particles based on homopolymers and graft‐copolymers composed of polynorbornene (PNB) and poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA) were synthesized in microemulsion conditions by simultaneous combination of two distinct methods of polymerization: Ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Only one commercial compound (first generation Grubbs catalyst) was used to initiate the ROMP of norbornene (NB) and activate the ATRP of tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA). Well‐defined nanoparticles with hydrodynamic diameters smaller than 50 nm were prepared with original morphologies depending on the monomer compositions, the type of combination (polymer blend or graft‐copolymer), and the conditions of microemulsion polymerizations. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
