Using x-ray emission and photoemission spectroscopies to measure the occupied valence levels in a thin crystalline ice film, we resolve the ionization-induced dissociation of water in ice on a femtosecond time scale. Isotope substitution confirms proton transfer during the core-hole lifetime in spite of the nonresonant excitation. Through ab initio molecular dynamics on the core-ionized state, the dissociation and spectrum evolution are followed at femtosecond intervals. The theoretical simulations confirm the experimental analysis and allow for a detailed study of the dissociative reaction path.  相似文献

We demonstrate that the electronic gap of a graphene bilayer can be controlled externally by applying a gate bias. From the magnetotransport data (Shubnikov-de Haas measurements of the cyclotron mass), and using a tight-binding model, we extract the value of the gap as a function of the electronic density. We show that the gap can be changed from zero to midinfrared energies by using fields of less, approximately < 1 V/nm, below the electric breakdown of SiO2. The opening of a gap is clearly seen in the quantum Hall regime.  相似文献

The high spin structure of the nucleus129Ba has been investigated using a18O induced reaction. The known bands could be followed up to a maximum spin (55/2) ?. Some 56 states and 78 transitions could be placed in the level scheme. Band crossings were established in both positive and negative parity structures. They display features of strong polarization effects due to the alignment of h11/2 protons.  相似文献

Abstract— A variety of experimental tests have been applied to the methylene-blue-sensitized photooxidation of amino acids to distinguish between singlet oxygen and non-singlet oxidation mechanisms. Conventional flash photolysis and laser photolysis were used to measure the rate constants for the quenching of excited triplet sensitizer and singlet oxygen by the amino acids histidine. tryptophan and methionine and the nucleotide guanosine-5′-monophosphate. In the case of histidine, the rate constants alone rule out an oxidation mechanism involving direct reaction with excited dye. With the other amino acids, and with guanosine monophosphate, the oxidation rates might be accounted for by either mechanism. The inhibition of the photo-oxidation of both tryptophan and methionine as well as histidine by the singlet-oxygen quenchers N3? and tetramethylethylene suggests that these reactions occur via a singlet-oxygen mechanism. A newly developed test of singlet oxygen reactions involving a comparison of photooxidation rates in normal and perdeuterated solvents has been used to establish that the photooxidation of tryptophan proceeds primarily by a singlet-oxygen mechanism. These experiments appear to constitute the first proof that singlet oxygen is involved in the photooxidation of the three amino acids tryptophan, methionine and histidine.  相似文献

A general method for coulometric titration of alkylphenols with anodically generated bromine is described. The reaction is carried out in a water-acetic acid medium and the reactivity is governed by varying the water content and the concentration of bromide ion and by the addition of pyridine. In that way all types of alkylphenols can be titrated quantitatively. For phenols containing more than one free ortho and para position, the titration can also be carried out either to the monobromination stage or to the full bromination stage. The mean relative error is ± 1·2% for monobromination and ±1·5% for full bromination. A method for rapid determination of the number of free ortho and para positions in alkylphenols by using two coulometric titrations is also described.  相似文献

An integrated protein microcharacterization/identification platform has been developed. The system has been designed to allow a high flexibility in order to tackle challenging analytical problems. The platform comprises a cooled microautosampler, an integrated system for microcolumn HPLC, and a capillary reversed-phase column that is interfaced to matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) system via a low internal volume flow-through microdispenser. The chromatographic separation is continuously transferred onto a MALDI target plate as discrete spots as the dispenser ejects bursts of droplets of the column effluent in a precise array pattern. A refrigerated microfraction collector was coupled to the outlet of the flow-through microdispenser enabling enrichment and re-analysis of interesting fractions. The use of target plates pre-coated with matrix simplified and increased the robustness of the system. By including a separation step prior to the MALDI-TOF-MS analysis and hereby minimizing suppression effects allowed us to obtain higher sequence coverage of proteins compared to conventional MALDI sample preparation methodology. Additionally, synthetic peptides corresponding to autophosphorylated forms of the tryptic fragment 485-496 (ALGADDSYYTAR) of tyrosine kinase ZAP-70 were identified at sensitivities reaching 150 amol.  相似文献

Novel prostaglandin F(2)(alpha) derivatives, functionalized at C13 and C14, have been prepared. 17-Phenyl-18,19,20-trinorprostaglandin F(2)(alpha) isopropyl ester [(15S)-1] and its epimer [(15R)-1] were stereoselectively epoxidized, using Sharpless conditions, to produce each of the four diastereomeric epoxides (15S)-2, (15S)-3, (15R)-2, and (15R)-3. Treatment of the four epoxides with LiOH stereospecifically-produced the pentahydroxy substituted analogues 12 and 13. Alternatively, epoxides 2 and 3were allowed to react with thiophenolate ion. The attack of the sulfur nucleophile on the epoxide occurred at either C13 or C14 depending on the stereochemistry of the epoxide and of C15.  相似文献

The transient spectra obtained from the alkanes methane, ethane, propane, n-butane and neopentane have tentatively been assigned to alkyl radicals. The total length-based second moment contribution from longitudinal sample diffusion in both phases on a column, σD , is derived by adding individual partial differential contributions to a partial differential equation accounting for the longitudinal diffusion processes only. Although each diffusion-dispersed sample part is equilibrated between two phases, the resulting σ,D (= 2D mt m + 2D st s) can be interpreted as the sum of two independent contributions in accordance with the variance addition rule. (D m and D s are the mean diffusion coefficients and t mand t s the mean residence times of the sample in the mobile and stationary phases, respectively.) The same σD expression is derived from the random walk model of Giddings by treating the diffusional process in each phase as statistically independent of the other processes. Under these conditions the broadening contribution from longitudinal diffusion in the mobile phase is shown to be independent of the velocity profile.  相似文献
