The studies with proteins are necessary to understand the biological effects of atmospheric pressure plasma (APP). Among proteins, those with transient metal ions play key roles in many biological events and they are very sensitive to environmental redox states. Iron-containing hemoglobin (Hb) is investigated in this study, after APP treatments under two environmental gas conditions of pure N2 and N2?+?O2 mixture. Monitoring the intensity change for absorption spectra could lead to a quantitative assessment of the effect of discharge plasma on Hb. Redox states of Hb are classified into five states including O2-bound Hb (oxy-Hb), deoxy-Hb, met-Hb, NO-bound Hb (NO-Hb), and hemichrome. Chemically generated reactive species and some scavengers are applied to understand the chemical reactions. Our experimental results confirm the complex chemical reactions of APP and suggest the possible use of Hb as a model protein for the visualization of APP biological effects.  相似文献

Two batches of a reference material “Creatinine in Human Urine” have been prepared with creatinine concentrations at the physiological level, and used in interlaboratory comparisons in which up to 26 laboratories participated employing up to 4 independent methods. The 95% confidence intervals obtained for the certified creatinine concentrations are better than the “acceptable ranges” of commercially control samples available for clinical laboratories, the certified values being traceable to mean values of the commercial control samples. Thus, a suitable reference material has been prepared for the quality assurance of environmental and occupational health studies in which the concentration of a pollutant or its metabolites in human urine has to be related to the creatinine concentration.  相似文献

Chlorination reaction behavior of Zircaloy-4 (Zry-4) cladding hulls was demonstrated by using a quartz reactor system. By reacting at 380 °C for 3 h, mass of the Zry-4 hulls decreased by 65.8 wt% with Cl2 utilization of 87.1 mol%. Composition of collected product was analyzed and it was revealed that concentration of Zr was higher than 99.97 wt%. The purity of Zr in the experimental result was higher than expectation when considering Sn (1.31 wt%) and Fe (0.25 wt%) contents which can produce gaseous SnCl4 and FeCl3 at the experimental condition. Theoretical calculations were performed to clarify the high purity of Zr by using the HSC code. The simulation results revealed that formation of ZrCl4 is more preferred than SnCl4, FeCl3, and CrCl3. The preference of chloride formation was confirmed by the theoretical calculation, and it was suggested that the major constituents of Zry-4 might react with Cl2 to produce chlorides in an order of ZrCl4 > CrCl3 > SnCl4 > FeCl3. It was also suggested that continuous removal of ZrCl4 and sufficient supply of Zr source during the chlorination reaction might have contributed to the high purity of Zr.  相似文献

We use a first-principles calculation and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) to investigate the mechanism and the nanosize products of the sol-gel reaction with diphenylsilanediol (DPD) and 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MEMO) precursors in synthesizing a hybrid waveguide material. It is predicted that switching between a DPD hydroxyl and a MEMO methoxy with a reaction rate of 6.8 x 10(-6) s(-1) at 300 K is the fastest process for the first reaction step, thus generating diphenylmethoxysilanol (DPM) and 3-methacryloxypropyldimethoxysilanol (MEDO) as products. However, we determine that this reaction pathway could be modified by the presence of the H2O released from a catalyst such as Ba(OH)2.H2O. Next, switching between the DPM hydroxyl and the MEDO methoxy is followed to generate diphenyldimethoxysilane (DPDM) and 3-methacryloxypropylmethoxysilanediol (MEMDO). However, condensation between a MEMDO hydroxyl and a DPDM methoxy is found to be most favorable for the third reaction step, which generates the DPDM-MEMDO dimer and CH3OH molecule as products. In a similar fashion, a DPDM methoxy of the DPDM-MEMDO dimer can condense with a MEMDO hydroxyl of the second DPDM-MEMDO dimer to increase the chain, but its reaction rate of 2.8 x 10(-11) s(-1) is predicted to be about 5 times smaller than that between a DPDM methoxy and a MEMDO hydroxyl. This implies that the reaction rate for the larger nanostructures becomes smaller. Additionally, our SANS measurements determine that the final products from our sol-gel reaction are on the nanometer scale, at sizes from 1.76 to 2.36 nm.  相似文献

Cadmium and zinc levels in urine, serum, hair obtained from workers professionally exposed to cadmium oxide dust and from a control, nonoccupationally exposed group were determined by neutron activation analysis. The study was completed by biochemical monitoring tests such as the 2 (2-MG) determination in urine and serum and the -aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD) determination in blood. Significantly increased levels of cadmium in urine, serum, and hair, 2-MG in urine and serum, ALAD in blood and decreased levels of zinc in serum were found in the exposed group compared to the control group. The most distinct differences of the parameters studied were observed for cadmium in hair. Correlations among the parameters were preliminary evaluated, too. For quality assurance purposes, the cadmium and zinc concentrations were determined in biological (standard) reference materials NBS SRM-1577 Bovine Liver, Bowen's Kale, IAEA A-11 Milk Powder, and IAEA H-8 Horse Kidney.  相似文献

Separation of acidic dyestuffs, including Acid red 4, Acid orange 10, and Acid red 27, from aqueous solution by nanofiltration (NF) was shown to be a feasible process to accomplish an effective removal over a broad operational range. For most experiments conducted in this study, dyestuff rejections of greater than 98% were achieved. The permeate flux for experiments conducted with various dyestuffs was increased with increasing operating pressure and solution temperature. The permeability was increased and the rejection of dyestuffs was slightly decreased with increasing cross-flow velocity of solution. The effect of solution pH on the rejection of dyestuff was elucidated by the electrostatic characteristics between the species of dyestuff and the membrane surface. Maximum permeability was obtained for experiments operated in aqueous solution of pH 5, which was close to the isoelectric point of the membrane.  相似文献

Neutron activation analysis (NAA) was used to determine 129I and the 129I/127I ratio in bovine thyroid, moss, and river sediment samples collected in the vicinity of the Temelín nuclear power plant (NPP) in south Bohemia. The NAA procedures comprised pre-irradiation separation of 129I by combustion of the samples in the stream of oxygen at 1,000 °C and trapping the liberated iodine in a LiOH/(NH4)2SO3 solution. Post-irradiation separation of 130I produced by the reaction 129I(n,γ)130I was carried out by extraction of elementary iodine with chloroform followed by precipitation of PdI2. Nondestructive, epithermal NAA was used to determine 127I employing the 127I(n,γ)128I reaction. The results showed that mean values of 129I and the 129I/127I ratio in the bovine thyroids varied from 22 to 61 mBq kg?1 (dry mass) and 2.8 × 10?9 to 5.4 × 10?9, respectively. These values are close to the lower end of results reported from various regions non-polluted with 129I. No significant differences were found between 129I concentrations and the 129I/127I ratios in the bovine thyroids collected prior to the start and after several years of operation of the NPP. The mean value and standard deviation of 129I in mBq kg?1, dry mass and the 129I/127I ratio in moss Pleurozium schreberi were 23 ± 16 and 2.3 × 10?9, respectively, whereas values of 129I in the river sediments were below 8–10 mBq kg?1 (dry mass) after several years of the NPP operation.  相似文献

Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) contains many toxic compounds which include substances classified as aldehydes (e.g. formaldehyde) and inorganic substances such as cyanide ions. The information on the determination of these compounds in water is available, but the monitoring data on the level of these substances in human body fluids are still lacking. In this work the procedure for determining cyanide ions and formaldehyde in samples of human nasal discharge by simple spectrophotometric technique is presented.  相似文献
