Synthesis of 2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one derivatives

A series of new 2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one derivatives containing arylidene, arylazo, and aminomethylene fragments in position 5 of the rhodanine cycle was synthesized. Bromination of Tetraazaporphine and Its β-Substituted Derivatives Using Pyridine as Solvent and Catalyst

The selectivity and degree of bromination of pyrrole rings in porphyrazine strongly depends on the brominating agent and solvent nature. The reaction of porphyrazine magnesium complex with molecular bromine and N-bromosuccinimide in pyridine gave magnesium complex of dibromotetraazaporphine. Increasing bromine substitution in porphyrazine enhances its acidic properties.     

Influence of nitrogen on the mechanism of austenitic stainless steel hardening

On the example of a C18N12M2 austenitic stainless steel, the influence of nitrogen (whose content varied from 0 to 0.45 wt.%) on the grain boundary hardening coefficient k _h entering into the Hall-Patch equation is analyzed. High values of k _h in steels with and without nitrogen are found. The data of the Auger analysis show that the hardening coefficient in the steel without nitrogen is determined by the grain-boundary segregation of carbon and oxygen. The grain-boundary hardening in the steel with nitrogen is not connected with the predominant segregation of nitrogen at grain boundaries. It is completely governed by intragranular processes—interaction of nitrogen atoms with dislocations. Omsk State Pedagogical University. Effective-range function for doublet nd scattering from an analysis of modern data

The parameters of the generalized effective-range function K(k ²) having a pole are found by using the results that were obtained by calculating the S-wave phase shift δ(E) for doublet nd scattering and the triton binding energy on the basis of Faddeev equations and within the N/D method and which were presented in the literature. The convergence of the expansion of K(k ²) in powers of momentum is studied. The binding energy of the virtual triton and the residues of the partial-wave scattering amplitudes at the poles corresponding to the bound and virtual states are calculated. Correlations between the binding energies of the bound and virtual states of the triton, on one hand, and the doublet scattering length for nd interaction, on the other hand, are considered. The function K(k ²) is also calculated within a two-body model featuring various potentials.     

Synthesis of cyclic sulfides

A new method for the synthesis of bicyclic sulfides consisting of the reaction of cycloolefin sulfides with vinylmagnesium or allylmagnesium bromides and the subsequent intramolecular cyclization of the resulting unsaturated mercaptans has been proposed. By using this method, from cyclohexene sulfide we have synthesized 1-thiadecalin and 2-methyl-1-thiahydrindan; and complexes of these substances with mercuric chloride, and their methiodides and sulfones have been obtained.The results of this work were reported in part at the XI-th Scientific Meeting on the Chemistry of Organosulfur Compounds of Petroleum and Petroleum Products (Ufa, 1968).     

Behavior of 3- and 4-ferrocenylhydrazobenzenes under the conditions of the benzidine rearrangement

Summary As a substituent in the benzene ring ferrocenyl makes benzidine rearrangement difficult.
