Difluorocarbene-Induced Ring-Opening Difluoromethylation-Halogenation of Cyclic (Thio)Ethers with TMSCF2X (X=Br,Cl)**

The ring-opening difluoromethylation-halogenation of cyclic (thio)ethers is reported through a simple strategy relying on carbon-chalcogen bond activation with difluorocarbene. The reaction proceeds through in situ protonation of the previously little-known difluoromethylene oxonium or sulfonium ylide intermediate followed by ring-opening with halide ion to afford halogenated acyclic difluoromethyl (thio)ethers that can then be employed for further elaboration. TMSCF₂X (X=Br, Cl) are unique reagents to achieve this synthetic purpose, which serve as both the difluorocarbene source and the halide ion source.     

On the Role of Alkali-Metal-Like Superatom Al12P in Reduction and Conversion of Carbon Dioxide

Developing efficient catalysts for the conversion of CO₂ into fuels and value-added chemicals is of great significance to relieve the growing energy crisis and global warming. With the assistance of DFT calculations, it was found that, different from Al₁₂X (X=Be, Al, and C), the alkali-metal-like superatom Al₁₂P prefers to combine with CO₂ via a bidentate double oxygen coordination, yielding a stable Al₁₂P(η²-O₂C) complex containing an activated radical anion of CO₂ (i.e., CO₂^.−). Thereby, this compound could not only participate in the subsequent cycloaddition reaction with propylene oxide but also initiate the radical reaction with hydrogen gas to form high-value chemicals, revealing that Al₁₂P can play an important role in catalyzing these conversion reactions. Considering that Al₁₂P has been produced in laboratory and is capable of absorbing visible light to drive the activation and transformation of CO₂, it is anticipated that this work could guide the discovery of additional superatom catalysts for CO₂ transformation and open up a new research field of superatom catalysis.     

Temperature and metal composition dependence of lateral photovoltaic effect in Al-Alq3/SiO2/Si structures

A series of Al=-（Alq3）l-x granular films is prepared on Si wafer with native oxide layer using co-evaporation technique. Large lateral photovoltaic effect （LPE） is observed, with an optimal LPV sensitivity of 75 mV/mm in x=0.35 sample. The dependence of LPE on temperature and A1 composition is investigated, and the possible mechanism is discussed.     

A new method for the synthesis of 3-hydroxymethylbenzofuran

A new one-step synthesis of 3-hydroxymethylbenzofuran, based on intramolecular cyclization of 2- （methoxymethyl）-2-（2＇-methoxymethyl-4＇-methylphenyl）-butanone I under diluted hydrochloric acid in THF, was developed. The mechanism for this process was investigated via chemical equilibrium shift of tautomer in acidic conditions. The applicability of this new method was studied further in this paper.     

Amine Salt–Catalyzed Synthesis of 5-Substituted 1H-Tetrazoles from Nitriles

The [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between sodium azide and various organic nitriles proceeds smoothly in the presence of amine salts as catalyst in dimethylformamide. The corresponding 5-substituted 1-H tetrazoles were obtained under mild condition in good to excellent yields. Supplemental materials are available for this article.
