The cycloterpolymerizations of hydrophilic monomer (1,1-diallyl-4-formylpiperizinium chloride) with hydrophobic monomer (diallyloctadecylammonium chloride) and sulfur dioxide in dimethyl sulfoxide using azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator afforded a series of water-soluble monocationic polyelectrolytes (MCPEs) in well over 90% yields. Acidic (HCl) hydrolysis of the N-formyl groups in MCPEs to NH2+Cl groups gave the dicationic polyelectrolytes (DCPEs), which on treatment with one equivalent of NaOH furnished the basic cationic polyelectrolytes (BCPEs) containing basic as well as quaternary nitrogens. The solution properties of the resultant series of interconverting polyelectrolytes (MCPE → DCPE ↔ BCPE) were investigated by viscometric techniques. The polymer concentration C∗HA of 0.2 g/dL was required for the manifestation of hydrophobic associations in a MCPE containing 4.5 mol% octadecyl pendents. The DCPEs exhibited sharp increase in viscosity in salt (NaCl)-added solution as compared to salt-free water. The pH-responsive BCPE is shown to demonstrate better associative properties in the absence of HCl; upon addition of HCl, the charge density increases in the polymer chains thereby resulting in increased electrostatic repulsions and decreased associations. Polymer-surfactant interactions were investigated using cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC); tremendous increase in the viscosity values of the DCPE was observed in the presence of the surfactant.  相似文献

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) are key regulators of the link between inflammation and cancer, and the interplay between TAM and tumor cells represents a promising target of future therapeutic approaches. We investigated the effect of gallic acid (GA) and caffeic acid (CA) as strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents on tumor growth, angiogenesis, macrophage polarization, and oxidative stress on the angiogenic model caused by the intraperitoneal (ip) inoculation of Ehrlich ascites tumor (EAT) cells (2.5 × 106) in Swiss albino mouse. Treatment with GA or CA at a dose of 40 mg/kg and 80 mg/kg ip was started in exponential tumor growth phase on days 5, 7, 9, and 11. On day 13, the ascites volume and the total number and differential count of the cells present in the peritoneal cavity, the functional activity of macrophages, and the antioxidant and anti-angiogenic parameters were determined. The results show that phenolic acids inhibit the processes of angiogenesis and tumor growth, leading to the increased survival of EAT-bearing mice, through the protection of the tumoricidal efficacy of M1 macrophages and inhibition of proangiogenic factors, particularly VEGF, metalloproteinases -2 and -9, and cyclooxygenase-2 activity.  相似文献

It has been recently demonstrated that a pump pulse can generate coherent charge fluctuations in a superconductor through a stimulated Raman process [Mansart, et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 110, 4539 (2013)]. Here, we present a tutorial review of the basic phenomena involved and show how the technique bears a strong analogy with nuclear magnetic resonance and electron paramagnetic resonance. The reflectivity of the system gets modulated by the coherent charge fluctuation of the condensate. A resonance at the Mott scale allows to identify a high-energy excitation which is coupled to the superconducting quasiparticles.  相似文献

An optical chemical sensor based on polymer swelling and shrinking has been studied by way of optical transmission. Polyvinylbenzyl chloride cross-linked with divinylbenzene and derivatized as the dicarboxylate was dispersed as microspheres in a hydrogel membrane. The absorbance was measured vs. the wavelength upon exposing the modified membrane to solutions of varying pH (3.0–9.0). At low pH (3.0), the absorbance had the highest value (1.34), while the absorbance decreased significantly (1.10) when the pH was increased to 9.0, indicating polymer swelling.The modified membrane was also used for sensing metal ions, in particular calcium and copper. Complex formation with the dicarboxylate functionality caused the polymer to shrink. This resulted in an increase in absorbance for a concentration ranging from 1.0×10–3 to 4.0×10–3M.  相似文献

Cyclodextrins (CDs) are cyclic oligosaccharides which can trap hydrophobic molecules and improve their chemical, physical, and biological properties. γ-CD showed the highest aqueous solubility with the largest cavity diameter among other CD types. The current study describes a direct and easy method for nucleophilic mono-aminos to be substituted with γ-CD and tested for their ability to host the guest curcumin (CUR) as a hydrophobic drug model. The mass spectrometry and NMR analyses showed the successful synthesis of three amino-modified γ-CDs: mono-6-amino-6-deoxy-cyclodextrine (γ-CD-NH2), mono-6-deoxy-6-ethanolamine-γ-cyclodextrine (γ-CD-NHCH2CH2OH), and mono-6-deoxy-6-aminoethylamino)-γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD-NHCH2CH2NH2). These three amino-modified γ-CDs were proven to be able to host CUR as native γ-CDs with formation constants equal to 6.70 ± 1.02, 5.85 ± 0.80, and 8.98 ± 0.90 mM−1, respectively. Moreover, these amino-modified γ-CDs showed no significant toxicity against human dermal fibroblast cells. In conclusion, the current work describes a mono-substitution of amino-modified γ-CDs that can still host guests and showed low toxicity in human dermal fibroblasts cells. Therefore, the amino-modified γ-CDs can be used as a carrier host and be conjugated with a wide range of molecules for different biomedical applications, especially for active loading methods.  相似文献

In this paper we consider geometry optimization of a quad-cell alignment detector for short range free space optical interconnects. The alignment technique uses alignment beams and quad detectors to detect different misalignment errors. We show that the size of the quad detector cells can be used as a design parameter to optimize the sensitivity of the alignment system. The sensitivity analysis and error signal generation are presented assuming standard Gaussian beam models. Results on optimum sensitivity for the case of transverse and angular misalignments are presented and discussed.  相似文献
