We describe a nanosized Cd(II)-imprinted polymer that was prepared from 4-vinyl pyridine (the functional monomer), ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (the cross-linker), 2,2′-azobisisobutyronitrile (the radical initiator), neocuproine (the ligand), and Cd(II) (the template ion) by precipitation polymerization in acetonitrile as the solvent. The imprinted polymer was characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The maximum adsorption capacity of the nanosized sorbent was calculated to be 64 mg g?1. Cadmium(II) was then quantified by FAAS. The relative standard deviation and limit of detection are 4.2 % and 0.2 μg L?1, respectively. The imprinted polymer displays improve selectivity for Cd(II) ions over a range of competing metal ions with the same charge and similar ionic radius. This nanosized sorbent is an efficient solid phase for selective extraction and preconcentration of Cd(II) in complex matrices. The method was successfully applied to the trace determination of Cd(II) in food and water samples.

3,5‐Dimethoxyhomophthalic acid was prepared efficiently in three steps, from 3,5‐dimethoxybenzyl bromide via rhodium‐catalyzed direct carbonylation to 3,5‐dimethoxyphenylacetic acid followed by successive o‐formylation and oxidation. High selectivity of a biomarker is a basic requirement when it is used for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of a disease. The artificial gel antibodies, which we synthesise by a molecular imprinting method, have this property not only for proteins, but also for bioparticles, such as viruses and bacteria. However, diagnosis of a disease requires not only that the biomarker can be “fished out” from a body fluid with high selectivity, but also that its concentration in the sample can rapidly be determined and preferably by a simple technique. This paper deals primarily with the development of a spectrophotometric method, which is so simple and fast that it can be used with advantage in a Doctor's Office. The development of this method was not straight‐forward. However, by modifications of the performance of these measurements we can now design standard curves in the form of a straight line, when we plot the true (not the recorded “apparent” absorption) against known protein concentrations. In an additional publication (see the following paper in this issue of JSS) we show an application of such a plot: determination of the concentration of albumin in serum and cerebrospinal fluid from patients with neurological disorders to investigate whether albumin is a biomarker for these diseases.  相似文献

In the present work new conductive nanostructures based on poly (acrylamide-co-maleic acid) (PAAMA) and polyaniline were prepared. The template polymerization of aniline was conducted in the aqueous solution of PAAMA with different ratios (w/w%) of aniline to polyacid. A simple, sensitive and selective solid phase microextraction with hollow fiber-supported multi-walled carbon nanotube functionalization reinforced sol–gel combined HPLC method was proposed for the determination of naproxen in tap, well and river water samples. In this method, functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared and held in pores of hollow fiber with sol–gel technology by immersion of polypropylene hollow fiber segment into the sol of the functionalized MWCNTs/silica composite and ultrasonically treated at room temperature. Effect of main parameters such as volume of donor phase, pH, extraction time, desorption time, type of desorption solvent, sample ionic strength and stirring rate were studied. Under optimum conditions, linearity was observed in the range of 0.03–500 ng/mL, with correlation coefficients of 0.997. The relative standard deviation for three replicate determinations of 50 ng/mL of naproxen was 4.3%. Limit of detection and pre-concentration factor were 0.008 ng/mL and 198, respectively. In order to check the applicability of the proposed method, it was used to determine trace levels of naproxen in different water samples.  相似文献

The antioxidant activities-expressed as the electron-donating properties-of five hydrophilic carotenoids (carotenoid surfactants) and three related hydrophobic carotenoids were investigated by flash photolysis. The electron-transfer rates of the carotenoids to the triplet state of the sensitizer 2-nitronaphthalene and the energy transfer rates of triplet 2-nitronaphthalene to the carotenoids were determined. The results demonstrate that the electron-donating effects of the hydrophilic and hydrophobic carotenoids were comparable when evaluated in acetonitrile. In the presence of water, however, electron transfer (i.e., antioxidant efficiency) was enhanced by a factor of four for the hydrophilic carotenoids. The increased hydrophilicity of carotenoids, therefore, could expand their antioxidant properties, thus facilitating their use as aqueous-phase radical scavengers. At the same time, it was shown that supramolecular assembly ("aggregation") of the amphiphilic carotenoids prevented electron transfer, thus deactivating the antioxidant function. Modulation of the biophysical properties of carotenoids through synthetic modification is capable of increasing the biological and medical utility of this natural class of predominantly hydrophobic antioxidant compound.  相似文献

Titanium phosphate grafted on the surface of silica gel (devoted briefly as Si-TiPH) was synthesized and used as bulk modifier to fabricate a renewable three-dimensional chemically modified electrode. The Si-TiPH bulk modified carbon paste electrode was used for the selective determination of dopamine (DA) in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA). The modified electrode offers an excellent and stable response for the determination of DA in the presence of AA. The differential pulse voltammetry peak current was found to be linear with the DA concentration in the range 2 × 10−7 to 1 × 10−6 and 2 × 10−6 to 6 × 10−5 mol L−1. The detection limit of the proposed method in the presence of 2.0 × 10−5 M of AA was found to be 4.3 × 10−8 mol L−1 for DA determination. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of DA in injections.  相似文献

Structural studies of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) reductases were hampered by modification of the active site during purification. We report an X-ray absorption spectroscopic analysis of the molybdenum active site of Escherichia coli DMSO reductase contained within its native membranes. The enzyme in these preparations is expected to be very close to the form found in vivo. The oxidized active site was found to have four Mo-S ligands at 2.43 A, one Mo=O at 1.71 A, and a longer Mo-O at 1.90 A. We conclude that the oxidized enzyme is a monooxomolybdenum(VI) species coordinated by two molybdopterin dithiolenes and a serine. The bond lengths determined for E. coli DMSO reductase are very similar to those determined for the well-characterized Rhodobacter sphaeroides DMSO reductase, suggesting similar active site structures for the two enzymes. Furthermore, our results suggest that the form found in vivo is the monooxobis(molybdopterin) species.  相似文献

Different derivatives of a novel heterocyclic system, i.e., pyrimido[4,5‐d] [1,2,4]triazolo[4,3‐a]pyrimidine, are synthesized in moderate‐to‐good yields. These compounds exhibit excellent photochromism upon photoirradiation. The photophysical characterizations of these new compounds were evaluated by UV/VIS absorption and fluorescence emission studies. The emission spectra in various solvents are also presented and discussed. The changes are due to the intramolecular H‐bonding of pyrimido‐triazolo‐pyrimidine with H2O, and photoinduced electron and general solvent effect. These compounds display high fluorescence quantum yields and are reported as new fluorophores.  相似文献
