The characteristics of yeast sulfite metabolism in a multistage bioreactor system for beer fermentation were investigated. No sulfite was produced in the continuous stirred-tank reactor (CSTR). However, large amounts were produced in the packed-bed reactor (PBR). Production of sulfite in the PBR seems to be inevitable when it is operated continuously. In order to control the sulfite level in the young beer, the yeast needs to be reactivated into the growth phase. One possible strategy to achieve this is to aerate and periodically remove yeast clogged in the reactor once every 6–7 months before the sulfite level exceeds a given concentration (e.g., 20 mg/L). It was confirmed that sulfite production is closely related to the growth condition of the yeast and is therefore important to consider in the control strategy for sulfite when using the immobilized yeast reactor for beer production.  相似文献

Root chemicals and DNA sequences were analyzed for Ligularia virgaurea collected in the northern Sichuan Province and adjacent areas of China. Thirty-eight samples were found to contain five chemotypes, two known and three new ones. From samples of the new chemotypes, 13 new compounds were isolated, including 3 sesquiterpene dimers and some rearranged eremophilanes. The DNA sequences suggested that the chemotype differentiation had a genetic origin.  相似文献

Heusler phases, including the full- and half-Heusler families, represent an outstanding class of multifunctional materials on account of their great tunability in compositions, valence electron counts (VEC), and properties. Here we demonstrate a systematic design of a series of new compounds with a 2×2×2 superstructure of the half-Heusler unit cell in X-Y-Z (X=Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir; Y=Zn, Mn; Z=Sn, Sb) systems. Their structures were solved by using both powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and also directly observed by using high-angle annular dark-field imaging in a scanning transmission electron microscope (HAADF-STEM). The VEC values of these new compounds span a wide and continuous range comparable to those for the full- and half-Heusler families, thereby implying tunability in compositions and physical properties in the superstructure. In fact, we observed abnormal electrical properties and a ferromagnetic semiconductor-like behavior with a high and tunable Curie temperature in these superstructures.  相似文献

The Cd(3P1)- and Hg(3P1)-photosensitized emissions of some secondary and tertiary alkyl- and silylamines have been investigated under conditions of steady illumination at 493 and 298 K, respectively. The emission bands were observed at around 440 nm in the cadmium-photosensitized reactions of these amines. In contrast, no appreciable emission bands were observed in the mercury-photosensitized reactions of these amines. However, upon addition of tert-butyl alcohol to the amine-mercury system, an emission band evolved at around 350 nm in the mercury-photosensitization. The peak-wavelengths for secondary and tertiary alkyl- and silylamines are slightly shorter than the values predicted from the correlations between the peak wavelength and the first ionization energy obtained in the cadmium- and mercury-photosensitized luminescence of ammonia and primary amines. The quenching efficiencies of the cadmium and mercury resonance lines by secondary alkyl- and silylamines are higher than those by tertiary alkyl- and silylamines. These observations suggest that the steric hindrance by the alkyl and silyl groups to the approach of the nitrogen atom in the amines to excited cadmium and mercury atoms seems to be an important factor for the stabilization of the exciplexes and the quenching of the resonance lines. The behavior of silylamines is similar to that of alkylamines in cadmium- and mercury-photosensitized reactions.  相似文献

Alkyl-modified crystalline silicon nanosheets 2 were synthesized and maintained the crystal structure of a Si(111) plane, in which the dangling silicon bond is stabilized by capping with the alkyl group. 2 was characterized using UV-vis, Fourier transform-infrared, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies; X-ray diffraction; and X-ray absorption near edge structure analysis. Little is known of the biosynthesis of sesquarterpenes and the synthesis of unnatural terpenoids by sesquarterpene biosynthetic enzymes has not yet been reported. In this study, the enzymatic cyclization of head-to-tail acyclic triterpene β-hexaprene—a natural product isolated from Bacillus clausii—using tetraprenyl-β-curcumene cyclase (TC) from Bacillus subtilis resulted in the formation of two unnatural pentacyclic triterpenes. It was revealed that B. subtilis TC, which forms tetracyclic terpenoid scaffold from tetraprenyl-β-curcumene in vivo, could be used to construct the 6/6/6/6/6-fused pentacyclic scaffold in vitro, suggesting that the active site cavity of TC has sufficient space to accommodate this unnatural pentacyclic scaffold. This is the first report demonstrating the utility of a sesquarterpene cyclase toward the synthesis of unnatural terpenoids.  相似文献

We have developed a two‐dimensional replica‐exchange method for the prediction of protein–ligand binding structures. The first dimension is the umbrella sampling along the reaction coordinate, which is the distance between a protein binding pocket and a ligand. The second dimension is the solute tempering, in which the interaction between a ligand and a protein and water is weakened. The second dimension is introduced to make a ligand follow the umbrella potential more easily and enhance the binding events, which should improve the sampling efficiency. As test cases, we applied our method to two protein‐ligand complex systems (MDM2 and HSP 90‐alpha). Starting from the configuration in which the protein and the ligand are far away from each other in each system, our method predicted the ligand binding structures in excellent agreement with the experimental data from Protein Data Bank much faster with the improved sampling efficiency than the replica‐exchange umbrella sampling method that we have previously developed. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
