On the <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-boundedness of pseudo-differential operators with non-regular symbols

In this paper, we consider the continuity property of pseudo-differential operators with symbols whose Fourier transforms have compact support. As applications, we obtain the L ^p -boundedness for symbols in Besov spaces and in modulation spaces.     

Magnetic properties of bulk BiCrO3 studied with dc and ac magnetization and specific heat

Single-phased powder BiCrO(3) sample was prepared at 6 GPa and 1653 K. Its magnetic properties were investigated by dc/ac magnetization, magnetic relaxation, and specific heat measurements. Four anomalies of magnetic origin were found near 40, 75, 109, and 111 K. The long-range antiferromagnetic order with weak ferromagnetism occurs at T(N) = 109 K. The ac susceptibilities showed that the transition near T(N) is a two-step transition. Additional frequency-independent broad anomalies were observed on the real part of the ac susceptibilities near 75 K, likely, caused by the change in the magnetic easy axis. The dc magnetic susceptibilities also had anomalies at 75 K, and the isothermal magnetization curves and relaxation curves changed their behavior below 75 K. Below 40 K, frequency-dependent anomalies with very large temperature shifts were observed on both the real and imaginary parts of the ac susceptibilities. The monoclinic-to-orthorhombic structural phase transition near 420 K was investigated by magnetization and differential scanning calorimetry measurements.     

Calderón-Zygmund operators on amalgam spaces and in the discrete case

We prove the boundedness of Calderón-Zygmund operators on weighted amalgam spaces for 1<p,q<∞ with Muckenhoupt weights. To do this, we show the boundedness in the discrete case, i.e. the boundedness on . We also investigate on . As an application we consider an operator related to the Navier-Stokes equation.     

Characteristics of granular boehmite and its ability to adsorb phosphate from aqueous solution

In this study, we investigated the surface properties of granulated boehmite with vinyl acetate (G-BE20) and measured the amount of phosphate it adsorbed and the effect of contact time and solution pH on the adsorption process. The specific surface area (144.9?m²/g) and the number of surface hydroxyl groups (0.88?mmol/g) of G-BE20 were smaller than those of virgin boehmite (BE), which gave a specific surface area and number of surface hydroxyl groups of 297.0?m²/g and 1.08?mmol/g, respectively. The amount of phosphate adsorbed increased with the temperature. The isotherm model of Langmuir was used to fit experimental adsorption equilibrium data for phosphate adsorption onto G-BE20. The calculated thermodynamic parameters show the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the adsorption process. The equilibrium adsorption onto G-BE20 was reached within 16?h and the amount of phosphate adsorbed was 8.4?mg/g. The kinetic mechanism of phosphate uptake was evaluated with two different models: the Largergren pseudo first- and pseudo second-order models. The data obtained showed a better fit to the pseudo second-order model (0.991) than to the pseudo first-order model (0.967), as indicated by the r values. The rate constants for the adsorption of phosphate onto G-BE20 were calculated as 0.481?1/h and 0.029?g/mg?h. The adsorption of phosphate onto G-BE20 was the maximum in the pH range 3.0-4.0.     

Synthesis of a β-glucan polysaccharide analogue by an iterative copper-catalyzed azide-acetylene coupling reaction

A triazole-linked β-glucan analogue was prepared using a copper-catalyzed azide-acetylene coupling reaction. The alkynylsilyl moiety was inactive under the conditions of the copper-catalyzed azide-acetylene coupling reaction and was readily converted into a terminal acetylene group by treatment with tetrabutylammonium fluoride. Using the method, we successfully synthesized a β-glucan analogue containing three laminaripentaose units.     

A counterexample to weighted estimates for multilinear Fourier multipliers with Sobolev regularity

The problem whether the weighted estimates for multilinear Fourier multipliers with Sobolev regularity hold under weak condition on weights is considered.     

First Precision Spectroscopy of Pionic Atoms at RI Beam Factory

We conducted an inclusive missing-mass spectroscopy of ¹²²Sn (d, ³He) reaction near the π¯ emission threshold at an incident energy of T _d = 250 MeV/nucleon. The experiment sets its goals to the research and development of the high precision spectroscopy of pionic atoms at the RI beam factory (RIBF) of RIKEN, which precedes a new project, pionic atom factory project (piAF), to observe pionic atoms systematically. Here, we report the preliminary results of the pilot experiment.     

Trace ideals for pseudo-differential operators and their commutators with symbols in α-modulation spaces

That symbols in the modulation space M ^1,1 generate pseudo-differential operators of the trace class was first stated by Feichtinger and proved by Gröchenig in [13]. In this paper, we show that the same is true if we replace M ^1,1 by the more general α-modulation spaces, which include modulation spaces (α = 0) and Besov spaces (α = 1) as special cases. The result with α = 0 corresponds to that of Gröchenig, and the one with α = 1 is a new result which states the trace property of the operators with symbols in the Besov space. As an application, we discuss the trace property of the commutator [α (X, D), a], where; a(χ) is a Lipschitz function and σ(χ, ξ) belongs to an α-modulation space.
