The ear canal sound pressure and the malleus umbo velocity with bone conduction (BC) stimulation were measured in nine ears from five cadaver heads in the frequency range 0.1 to 10 kHz. The measurements were conducted with both open and occluded ear canals, before and after resection of the lower jaw, in a canal with the cartilage and soft tissues removed, and with the tympanic membrane (TM) removed. The sound pressure was about 10 dB greater in an intact ear canal than when the cartilage part of the canal had been removed. The occlusion effect was close to 20 dB for the low frequencies in an intact ear canal; this effect diminished with sectioning of the canal. At higher frequencies, the resonance properties of the ear canal determined the effect of occluding the ear canal. Sectioning of the lower jaw did not significantly alter the sound pressure in the ear canal. The sound radiated from the TM into the ear canal was investigated in four temporal bone specimens; this sound is significantly lower than the sound pressure in an intact ear canal with BC stimulation. The malleus umbo velocity with air conduction stimulation was investigated in nine temporal bone specimens and compared with the umbo velocity obtained with BC stimulation in the cadaver heads. The results show that for a normal open ear canal, the sound pressure in the ear canal with BC stimulation is not significant for BC hearing. At threshold levels and for frequencies below 2 kHz, the sound in the ear canal caused by BC stimulation is about 10 dB lower than air conduction hearing thresholds; this difference increases at higher frequencies. However, with the ear canal occluded, BC hearing is dominated by the sound pressure in the outer ear canal for frequencies between 0.4 and 1.2 kHz.  相似文献

Recently, degradation of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) with low biodegradability in the environment and in industrial and municipal wastewaters has gained importance. In this study, a dispersed-type sonophotocatalysis (SP) process, which is a combination of sonolysis and photocatalysis with dispersed light sources, has been proposed for the effective and energy-efficient degradation of POPs. In this method, the piezoelectric effect caused by ultrasonic resonance in a piezoelectric element is used for producing luminescence in a LED. A luminescent device composed of eight UV-LEDs and a piezoelectric element was designed for dispersion of UV light in water; this device was confirmed to show luminescence under ultrasonic irradiation. Sonophotocatalytic degradation experiments were carried out using several such devices, and the results were compared with those obtained in sonolysis, photocatalysis, and fixed-type SP. The comparison showed that the degradation rate constants in fixed-type and dispersed-type SP were larger than the sum of the rate constants obtained for sonolysis and photocatalysis; further, the synergetic effect caused by the combination of sonolysis and photocatalysis was 7.5% and 18% in fixed-type and dispersed-type SP, respectively.  相似文献

Comprehensive re-investigation of the chemical constituents in the leaves of Vateria indica (Dipterocarpaceae) resulted in the isolation of a novel resveratrol dimeric dimer having a C(2)-symmetric structure, vateriaphenol F (1), and two new O-glucosides of resveratrol oligomers, vateriosides A (2) (resveratrol dimer) and B (4) (resveratrol tetramer), along with a new natural compound (3) and 33 known compounds including 26 resveratrol derivatives. The absolute structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis, including two dimensional NMR and circular dichroism (CD) spectra.  相似文献

Current high‐performance thermoelectric materials require elaborate doping and synthesis procedures, particularly in regard to the artificial structure, and the underlying thermoelectric mechanisms are still poorly understood. Here, we report that a natural chalcopyrite mineral, Cu1+xFe1?xS2, obtained from a deep‐sea hydrothermal vent can directly generate thermoelectricity. The resistivity displayed an excellent semiconducting character, and a large thermoelectric power and high power factor were found in the low x region. Notably, electron–magnon scattering and a large effective mass was detected in this region, thus suggesting that the strong coupling of doped carriers and antiferromagnetic spins resulted in the natural enhancement of thermoelectric properties during mineralization reactions. The present findings demonstrate the feasibility of thermoelectric energy generation and electron/hole carrier modulation with natural materials that are abundant in the Earth’s crust.  相似文献

The core fucose, a major modification of N‐glycans, is implicated in immune regulation, such as the attenuation of the antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity of antibody drugs and the inhibition of anti‐tumor responses via the promotion of PD‐1 expression on T cells. Although the core fucose regulates many biological processes, no core fucose recognition molecule has been identified in mammals. Herein, we report that Dectin‐1, a known anti‐β‐glucan lectin, recognizes the core fucose on IgG antibodies. A combination of biophysical experiments further suggested that Dectin‐1 recognizes aromatic amino acids adjacent to the N‐terminal asparagine at the glycosylation site as well as the core fucose. Thus, Dectin‐1 appears to be the first lectin‐like molecule involved in the heterovalent and specific recognition of characteristic N‐glycans on antibodies.  相似文献

In this article, we study the boundedness of pseudo-differential operators with symbols in S ρ,δ m on the modulation spaces M p,q . We discuss the order m for the boundedness Op(S ρ,δ m )⊂ℒ(M p,q ) to be true. We also prove the existence of a Calderón-Zygmund operator which is not bounded on the modulation space M p,q with q≠2. This unboundedness is still true even if we assume a generalized T(1) condition. These results are induced by the unboundedness of pseudo-differential operators on M p,q whose symbols are of the class S 1,δ 0 with 0<δ<1.   相似文献

Measurement of the motion of the malleus umbo and stapes footplate during bone conduction (BC) stimulation was conducted in vitro in 26 temporal bones using a laser Doppler vibrometer over the frequency range 0.1 to 10 kHz. For lower frequencies, both ossicular sites followed the motion of the temporal bone. The differential motion between the malleus and the surrounding bone was greater than the differential motion of the stapes footplate; both resonated near 1.5 kHz. Different lesions were shown to affect the response: (1) a mass attached to the umbo lowered the resonance frequency of the ossicular vibration; (2) fixation of either the malleus or stapes increased the stiffness and shifted the resonance frequency upward; and (3) dislocation of the incudo-stapedial joint did not significantly affect the ossicular vibration. The sound radiated from the tympanic membrane was approximately 85 dB SPL at an umbo differential velocity of 1 mm/s for low frequencies in an open ear canal and about 10 dB higher for an occluded one; at higher frequencies (above 2 kHz) resonances of the canal determine the response. It was also found that the motion between the footplate and promontory was within 5 dB when the specimen was stimulated orthogonal to the vibration direction of the ossicles than in line with the same. Measurement of the differential motion of the umbo in one live human skull gave similar response as the average result from the temporal bone specimens.  相似文献

Bacterial lipopolysaccharide from Escherichia coli O9 (O9 LPS) has various characteristic biological activities other than endotoxic activities. The biological activities exhibited depend on the structure of the O-antigen. The O-antigen region of O9 LPS is composed of the mannose homopolysaccharide (MHP). This structure was reported previously, but not all its proton and carbon signals were assigned. In the present study, we completely assign all proton and carbon signals of the O-antigen of O9 LPS using (1)H- and (13)C-NMR spectroscopy, including the DQF-COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, H2BC, HSQC-TOCSY and HMBC methods.  相似文献

Samples of the type-I clathrate Sr(8)Al(x)Si(46-x) have been prepared by direct reaction of the elements. The type-I clathrate structure (cubic space group Pm3n) which has an Al-Si framework with Sr(2+) guest atoms forms with a narrow composition range of 9.54(6) ≤ x ≤ 10.30(8). Single crystals with composition A(8)Al(10)Si(36) (A = Sr, Ba) have been synthesized. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements provide evidence for a peritectic reaction and melting point at ~1268 and ~1421 K for Sr(8)Al(10)Si(36) and Ba(8)Al(10)Si(36), respectively. Comparison of the structures reveals a strong correlation between the 24k-24k framework sites distances and the size of the guest cation. Electronic structure calculation and bonding analysis were carried out for the ordered models with the compositions A(8)Al(6)Si(40) (6c site occupied completely by Al) and A(8)Al(16)Si(30) (16i site occupied completely with Al). Analysis of the distribution of the electron localizability indicator (ELI) confirms that the Si-Si bonds are covalent, the Al-Si bonds are polar covalent, and the guest and the framework bonds are ionic in nature. The Sr(8)Al(6)Si(40) phase has a very small band gap that is closed upon additional Al, as observed in Sr(8)Al(16)Si(30). An explanation for the absence of a semiconducting "Sr(8)Al(16)Si(30)" phase is suggested in light of these findings.  相似文献
