Generalized mean-square amplitudes of vibration in some XY4 type ions (II)

The generalized mean-square amplitudes of vibration and mean amplitudes of vibration have been computed for CrO^3-₄, Mn¹⁸O^-₄, MoSe^2-₄ and WSe^2-₄ ions at three temperatures, T = 0°K, T = 298°K, T = 500°K, employing Cyvin's method. The results have been discussed in the light of atomic weight and electronegativity of the atom in the ionic system.

Near-barrier fission of the system12C+232Th

The fission fragment angular distributions for the system¹²C +²³²Th have been measured in the energy range 0.97<>_c.m./V_B<1.22. the=" measured=" anisotropies=" have=" been=" compared=" with=" the=" predictions=" of=" the=" standard=" saddle=" point=" statistical=" model,=" using=" the=" second=" moment=" of=" the=" compound=" nucleus=" spin=" distribution=">l² deduced from a Wong model fit to the fission excitation function. While the measured anisotropies agree with the standard saddle point statistical model for E_c.m./V_B>1.05, they are abnormally large at lower energies. This is also true for the existing measurements of¹⁶O and¹⁹F +²³²Th systems. Since for this system pre-equilibrium fission contributions are not expected, this anomaly indicates strong channel coupling effects leading to an increase in l² at sub-barrier energies.The authors thank Drs. Preparation and analytical properties of a chelating resin containing bicine groups

A polystyrene divinyl benzene based resin containing bicine groups has been prepared and its analytical properties investigated. The pH dependence of sorption of metal on the resin has been determined for Cu(II), Fe(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II). The important characteristics of the resin are fast equilibrium, high selectivity and small volume change between its hydrogen and metal forms. These enable it to be applied to the rapid concentration of trace amounts of these metal ions. It shows promise for the separation of lead from other metal ions.     

Use of 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine as a complexing agent for the determination of copper by flame atomic absorption spectrometry and its application to complex sulphide ore

Copper has been determined in ore samples by FAAS after preceding precipitation with 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine at pH 10. Standard deviations of ±0.11% were obtained for 14% Cu.
