A charge-integration readout circuit with a linear-mode silicon avalanche photodiode for a photon-number resolving detector

We experimentally demonstrated continuous tuning of the wavelength of pulses of a subpicosecond soliton laser working in the 1.55 μm spectral range during propagation in a nonlinear optical fiber. The width of the tuning band reached 250–300 nm, and the maximum wavelength of solitons at the fiber exit exceeded 1.8 μm at an average optical power of input radiation of ～2.7 mW.     

Complete NMR analysis of oxytocin in phosphate buffer

Complete NMR analysis of oxytocin (OXT) in phosphate buffer was elucidated by one‐dimensional (1D)‐ and two‐dimensional (2D)‐NMR techniques, which involve the assignment of peptide amide NH protons and carbamoyl NH₂ protons. The ¹H? ¹⁵N correlation of seven amide NH protons and three carbamoyl NH₂ protons were also shown by HSQC NMR of OXT without ¹⁵N enrichment. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Synergic extraction of lanthanoids by mixtures of LIX 54 (high molecular weight beta-diketone) and bidentate neutral amines.

The synergic extraction of lanthanoids has been investigated using mixtures of high molecular weight beta-diketone, LIX 54 (HA; major component, 1-phenyl-3-isoheptyl-1,3-propanedion) and bidentate neutral ligands (S) in toluene. The distribution behavior of bidentate amines (2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp)) was investigated and their related equilibrium constants were evaluated. The synergic effect is produced by the formation of such adduct complexes as MA3 x S. The extraction constants with LIX 54 alone and those in the presence of bidentate ligands were determined for lanthanoid-series elements.     

Pipette tip biosensors for bacterial double-stranded DNA using bioluminescence induced by zinc finger luciferase

The authors describe a pipette type of biosensor for detecting target genes and using a zinc finger protein fused to luciferase (ZF luciferase). The ZF protein binds to a specific DNA sequence, and the target double-stranded (ds) DNA can be detected by monitoring the enzymatic activity of ZF luciferase. A small avidin-immobilized reaction plate is placed on a plastic pipette tip (referred to as Biologi tip). The dsDNA detection procedures are carried out by using a programmable dispensing robot equipped with a photodetector. These procedures include (a) the aspiration of an analyte to capture the biotinylated target dsDNA (a product of a polymerase chain reaction) on the small reaction plate inside the pipette tip, (b) the introduction of ZF luciferase and luciferin into the pipette tip, and (c) migration of the pipette tip to the detection port to measure bioluminescence on the small reaction plate. The emission originating from luciferase activity is observed on the reaction plate containing immobilized biotin-tagged target dsDNA, whereas plates containing non-target or biotinylated single-stranded DNA only do not yield a signal. The intensity of emission increases proportionally to the concentration of dsDNA, and the detection limit of the target dsDNA is as low as 62 pM. An actual genomic DNA sample from Escherichia coli O157 was successfully detected by this automatic analyzer using the Biologi tip equipped with a reaction plate. This indicates that this system has a large potential for practical applications, including in particular point-of-care analyses in hygiene control, food safety testing, and clinical diagnosis.

Concise quantum associative memories with nonlinear search algorithm

The model of Quantum Associative Memories (QAM) we propose here consists in simplifying and generalizing that of Rigui Zhou et al. 1 which uses the quantum matrix with the binary decision diagram put forth by David Rosenbaum 2 and the Abrams and Lloyd's nonlinear search algorithm 3 . Our model gives the possibility to retrieve one of the sought states in multi‐values retrieving scheme when a measurement is done on the first register in time complexity. It is better than Grover's algorithm and its modified form which need steps when they are used as the retrieval algorithm. n is the number of qubits of the first register and m the number of x values for which . As the nonlinearity makes the system highly susceptible to the noise, an analysis of the influence of the single qubit noise channels on the Nonlinear Search Algorithm of our model of QAM shows a fidelity of about 0.7 whatever the number of qubits existing in the first register, thus demonstrating the robustness of our model.     

13顶点金属碳硼烷结构和非线性光学性质的DFT研究

采用量子化学密度泛函理论(DFT)B3LYP/6-31G(d)方法,对4,1,6-MC2B10H1213顶点金属碳硼烷几何构型进行优化,结合有限场(FF)方法计算了它们的极化率和二阶非线性光学(NLO)系数.结果表明,十个13顶点金属碳硼烷分子中1a～6a的二阶NLO系数与其构型纵向扩张呈现相同的规律.分子的前线分子轨道能级差越小,其二阶NLO系数越大.对于不同自旋态的同种金属碳硼烷分子,其偶极矩值为高自旋态大于相应的低自旋态,极化率和二阶NLO系数与自旋多重度没有一致的对应规律,自旋多重度对NLO性质影响不大.     

Diastereoselective protonation on a radical anion in the photoallylation and photoreduction of 1,1-dicyano-2-methyl-3-phenyl-1-butene by allyltrimethylsilane

Diastereoselectivity in the photoallylation and photoreduction of 1,1-dicyano-2-methyl-3-phenyl-1-butene by allyltrimethylsilane in the presence of phenanthrene was dependent on the structures and stoichiometry of the added carboxylic acids. Diastereoselectivity increased up to 72% by the addition of equimolar amount of l-lactic acid based on the alkene.     

Cold nuclear matter effects on J/ψ yields as a function of rapidity and nuclear geometry in d+A collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV
