Identification and elimination of inductively coupled plasma-induced defects in AlxGa1 - xN/GaN heterostructures

By using temperature-dependent Hall,variable-frequency capacitance-voltage and cathodoluminescence (CL) measurements,the identification of inductively coupled plasma (ICP)-induced defect states around the Al x Ga 1-x N/GaN heterointerface and their elimination by subsequent annealing in Al x Ga 1-x N/GaN heterostructures are systematically investigated.The energy levels of interface states with activation energies in a range from 0.211 to 0.253 eV below the conduction band of GaN are observed.The interface state density after the ICP-etching process is as high as 2.75×10 12 cm 2 ·eV 1.The ICP-induced interface states could be reduced by two orders of magnitude by subsequent annealing in N 2 ambient.The CL studies indicate that the ICP-induced defects should be Ga-vacancy related.     

Predicting Atomic Decay Rates Using an Informational-Entropic Approach

We show that a newly proposed Shannon-like entropic measure of shape complexity applicable to spatially-localized or periodic mathematical functions known as configurational entropy (CE) can be used as a predictor of spontaneous decay rates for one-electron atoms. The CE is constructed from the Fourier transform of the atomic probability density. For the hydrogen atom with degenerate states labeled with the principal quantum number n, we obtain a scaling law relating the n-averaged decay rates to the respective CE. The scaling law allows us to predict the n-averaged decay rate without relying on the traditional computation of dipole matrix elements. We tested the predictive power of our approach up to n =?20, obtaining an accuracy better than 3.7% within our numerical precision, as compared to spontaneous decay tables listed in the literature.     

Interaction between a dark spot and a two-dimensional nonlinear photonic lattice with fully incoherent white light

We study experimentally the interaction of a dark spot with a nonlinear photonic lattice with fully incoherent white light emitted from an incandescent bulb in the self-defocussing photovoltaic media when the dark spot is aimed at different positions of lattices with different lattice spacing. In this case a host of novel phenomena is demonstrated, including dark spot induced lattice dislocation-deformation, the annihilation of the dark spot and so on. Results demonstrate that the interaction between incoherent dark spot and photonic lattice is always attraction and the large-spacing photonic lattice is analogous to the continuous medium.     

The Role of Potential Structure in Excitation Functions of Synthesizing Superheavy Nuclei

The excitation functions of two very similar reaction channels, 58Fe＋ 208pb→ 265Hs ＋ 1n and 58Fe＋ 209Bi → 266Mt ＋1n are studied in the framework of the dinuclear system conception. The fusion probabilities are found to be strongly subject to the structure of the driving potential. Usually the fusion probability is hindered by a barrier from the injection channel towards the compound nuclear configuration. The barrier towards the mass symmetrical direction, however, also plays an important role for the fusion probability, because the barrier hinders the quasi-fission, and therefore helps fusion.     

Strategy of improving the stability and detonation performance for energetic material by introducing the boron atoms

A novel stable energetic compound (E)‐1,2‐diamino‐1,2‐dinitrodiboron (DANB) was theoretically designed based on the structure of 1,1‐diamino‐2,2‐dinitroethene (FOX‐7). Atomization method in combination with Hess' law was used to predict the heat of formation. The detonation velocity (D) and detonation pressure (P) of DANB were approximatively estimated by using Kamlet–Jacobs equations. As a result, DANB has huge heat of formation (2013.5 kJ/mol) and specific enthalpy of combustion (?26.4 kJ/g). Furthermore, DANB possesses high crystal density (1.85 g/cm³) and heat of detonation (5476.0 cal/g), which lead to surprising detonation performance (D = 10.72 km/s, P = 51.9 GPa) that is greater than those of FOX‐7 (D = 8.63 km/s, P = 34.0 GPa) and CL‐20 (D = 9.62 km/s, P = 44.1 GPa). More importantly, DANB is very stable because its bond dissociation energy of the weakest bond (BDE = 357.8 kJ/mol) is larger than those of the most common explosives, such as FOX‐7 (BDE = 200.4 kJ/mol), CL‐20(BDE = 209.2 kJ/mol), HMX(BDE = 165.7 kJ/mol), and RDX (BDE = 161.4 kJ/mol). Therefore, our results show that DANB is a promising candidate for stable and powerful energetic material.     

High-power 880-nm diode-directly-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO₄ laser at 1342 nm with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror

A high-power 880-nm diode-directly-pumped passively mode-locked 1342 nm Nd:YVO? laser was demonstrated with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). The laser mode radii in the laser crystal and on the SESAM were optimized carefully using the ABCD matrix formalism. An average output power of 2.3 W was obtained with a repetition rate of 76 MHz and a pulse width of 29.2 ps under an absorbed pump power of 12.1 W, corresponding to an optical-optical efficiency of 19.0% and a slope efficiency of 23.9%, respectively.

The moire topography based on optical logic operation

The optical logic-operated moire,which is proposed on the basis of optical logicoperation,is a new method to obtain specific moire beat pattern.Its advantages lie in the ca-pability to select carrier-free,sharpened fringes with high contrast.The experimental methodand results of the application of the optical logic-operared moire in moire topography are pre-sented in this paper.
