We investigate the dependence of the size parameter in the Mie scattering theory on the near-field enhanced Raman scattering properties for high dielectric constant ZnO nanorods grown randomly by PLD (pulsed laser deposition). High Raman signals of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) at 532 nm excitation wavelength were observed with nanorods of 400 nm average diameter. This experimental result was explained theoretically by the size parameter described in the Mie scattering theory, not by surface plasmon polaritons. This was also confirmed by the near-field distribution calculated by the FDTD (Finite-Difference Time Domain) method. The ZnO nanorods with 400 nm average diameter can detect as low as 1 μM of R6G. This near-field enhancement factor is equivalent to that with 10-nm-thick gold-coated ZnO nanorods (nanoshells) with an average core diameter of 100 nm. Controlling the diameter of bare ZnO nanorods is effective for obtaining large enhancement factors without an additional process of gold thin film coating on them.  相似文献

A divergent method for the synthesis of α,α′‐diarylacenaphtho[1,2‐c]phosphole P‐oxides has been established; α,α′‐dibromoacenaphtho[c]phosphole P‐oxide, which was prepared through a TiII‐mediated cyclization of 1,8‐bis(trimethylsilylethynyl)naphthalene, underwent a Stille coupling with three different kinds of aryltributylstannanes to afford the α,α′‐diarylacenaphtho[c]phosphole P‐oxides in moderate to good yields. X‐ray crystallographic analyses and UV/Vis absorption/fluorescence measurements have revealed that the degree of π‐conjugation, the packing motif, the electron‐accepting ability, and the thermal stability of the acenaphtho[c]phosphole π‐systems are finely tunable with the α‐aryl substituents. All the P?O and P?S derivatives exhibited high stability in their electrochemically reduced state. To use this class of arene‐fused phosphole π‐systems as n‐type semiconducting materials, we evaluated device performances of the bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaics (OPV) that consist of poly(3‐hexylthiophene), an indene‐C70 bisadduct, and a cathode buffer layer. The insertion of the diarylacenaphtho[c]phosphole P‐oxides as the buffer layer was found to improve the power conversion efficiency of the polymer‐based OPV devices.  相似文献

Full quantum computation of the electronic state of proteins has recently become possible by the advent of the ab initio fragment molecular orbital (FMO) method. We applied this method to the analysis of the interaction between the Bombyx mori pheromone-binding protein and its ligand, bombykol. The protein–ligand interaction of this molecular complex was minutely analyzed by the FMO method, and the analysis revealed several important interactions between the ligand and amino acid residues.  相似文献

Peptidoglycan glycosyltransferases are highly conserved bacterial enzymes that catalyze glycan strand polymerization to build the cell wall. Because the cell wall is essential for bacterial cell survival, these glycosyltransferases are potential antibiotic targets, but a detailed understanding of their mechanisms is lacking. Here we show that a synthetic peptidoglycan fragment that mimics the elongating polymer chain activates peptidoglycan glycosyltransferases by bypassing the rate-limiting initiation step.  相似文献

We describe the optical power enhancement on the surface of the 2D (two-dimensional) periodic arrays of convex and concave gold nanostructures for comparing the characteristics of the nanostructures for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) templates. The optical power enhancement is due to the surface plasmon polaritons, which is calculated by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method at commercially-available 532 nm pump light. A periodic array of closely-packed gold particles is defined as convex nanostructure, while a periodic array of hemispherical holes, or voids, on gold substrate is defined as concave nanostructure. The peak power enhancement factor, the average power enhancement factor and the activity rate of each structure were compared. The convex nanostructures show a strong enhancement factor in localized hotspots, while the concave nanostructures show not only the peak power enhancement factor comparable to that of convex nanostructures, but also higher spatially-averaged power enhancement factors and activity rates than those observed on the convex nanostructures, meaning that the highly enhanced near-field zone distributes densely on the substrate. We also revealed the dependence of the void diameter on the inter-void distance for the power enhancement in the concave nanostructures system, providing a guideline for the fabrication of the efficient SERS template, which shows a strong power enhancement factor with a high area density.  相似文献

A rat model of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (Rice's model) was obtained by unilateral ligation of the common carotid artery of 7-day-old rats with hypoxia (exposure to 8% oxygen). To estimate the in vivo intracerebral reducing ability of the mature rats (8 weeks old) of Rice's model, temporal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) imaging of the brain of a rat receiving a blood-brain barrier-permeable nitroxide radical, 3-hydroxymethyl-2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrrolidine-1-oxyl, was performed. In this imaging technique, the decay rate of the EPR signal intensity in a selected region of the brain is indicative of region-specific reducing ability. The effect of neonatal treatment of an antioxidant agent, 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one (MCI-186), after a hypoxic-ischemic insult was also tested. It was found that the reducing ability had been depleted in the contralateral hemisphere of Rice's model rats; this depletion was suppressed by administering MCI-186.  相似文献
