Ligandless-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of trace amount of copper ions

In the present work, a new ligandless-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (LL-DLLME) method has been developed for preconcentration trace amounts of copper as a prior step to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. In the proposed approach 1,2-dicholorobenzene and ethanol were used as extraction and dispersive solvents, respectively. Some factors influencing on the extraction efficiency of copper and its subsequent determination were studied and optimized, such as the extraction and dispersive solvent type and volume, pH of sample solution, extraction time and salting out effect. Under the optimal conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 1.0 ng mL⁻¹-0.6 μg mL⁻¹ of copper with R² = 0.9985. Detection limit was 0.5 ng mL⁻¹ in original solution (3S_b/m) and the relative standard deviation for seven replicate determination of 0.2 μg mL⁻¹ copper was ±1.4%. The proposed method has been applied for determination of copper in standard and water samples with satisfactory results.     

Quantitative Analysis of Sertraline in Human Serum by LC with Fluorescence Detection After Pre-Column Derivatization with 4-Chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan

An accurate and sensitive reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method for analysis of sertraline in human serum, using 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan as pre-column derivatization agent, is described. The drug and an internal standard (azithromycin) were extracted from serum by use of a mixture of diethyl ether and chloroform, and subjected to pre-column derivatization with the reagent. Analysis of the resulting derivatives was performed on a 250 mm × 4.0 mm cyano column with 63:37 (v/v) methanol–sodium phosphate buffer (0.05 M, pH 3.7) containing 2 mL L^?1 triethylamine as mobile phase. Detector response was monitored at excitation and emission wavelengths of 470 and 537 nm, respectively. The calibration plot was linear over the concentration range 2–640 ng mL^?1. The lower limits of detection and quantification were 0.5 and 2 ng mL^?1, respectively. The method was validated for specificity, sensitivity, linearity, precision, accuracy, and stability and shown to be accurate (intra-day and inter-day accuracy from 0.3 to 4.2%) and precise (intra-day and inter-day precision from 2.4 to 15.5%). The drug was detected at concentrations as low as 2 ng mL^?1 in 0.5 mL serum and the method described can be easily applied to human single-dose pharmacokinetic studies of sertraline.     

Phase formation and change of magnetic properties in mechanical alloyed Ni0.5Co0.5Fe2O4 by annealing

The effects of milling time and annealing temperature on phase formation, microstructure and magnetic properties of nickel-cobalt ferrite synthesized from oxide precursors by mechanical alloying were studied. The study of milling time effects on phase formation of milled materials showed that if milling continues up to 55 h, single phase nano-sized nickel-cobalt ferrite is obtained. Also, magnetic properties of powders versus milling time and annealing at different temperatures extensively changed, so that annealing at 1200 °C increased the magnetization saturation of the as-milled powder from 15.1 to 53.6 emu/g. X-ray powder diffraction technique (XRD) with Cu-Ka radiation was employed for phase identification. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were also used to determine the morphology and size of the particles. The magnetic properties were measured by a vibration sample magnetometer (VSM).

A novel approach for considering layout problem in cellular manufacturing systems with alternative processing routings and subcontracting approach

In this paper a new integrated approach is presented for designing cellular manufacturing system and its inter- and intra-cell layouts. Various production factors such as part demands, alternative processing routings, operation sequences, processing times, capacity of machines, etc. are incorporated in the problem in order to extend its applicability. To increase the accuracy of the inter- and intra-cell layout design, the material handling cost is calculated in terms of the actual position of machines within the cells and regarding the dimensions of the machines and aisle distances. Also, a subcontracting approach is proposed to determine the production volume of parts within the CF and layout design process regarding the production, material handling and outsourcing costs and under demand and machine capacity constraints. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that addresses all these design features simultaneously. As the proposed problem is NP-hard, an efficient GA is employed to solve it. Finally, numerical examples adopted from the literature are used to verify the proposed approach.     

Simple and efficient protocol for the synthesis of benzoxazole,benzoimidazole and benzothiazole heterocycles using Fe(Ⅲ)–Schiff base/SBA-15 as a nanocatalyst

Benzimidazoles, benzoxazoles, and benzothiazoles derivatives were synthesized from condensation of aldehydes and 1,2-phenylenediamine or ortho-aminophenol or ortho-aminothiophenol in the presence of catalytic amount of Fe(Ⅲ)–Schiff base/SBA-15 in water medium. Short reaction times, good to excellent yields, easy availability, reusability, and use of an eco-friendly catalyst are some of the significant attributes of the present method.
