Lot sizing with carbon emission constraints

This paper introduces new environmental constraints, namely carbon emission constraints, in multi-sourcing lot-sizing problems. These constraints aim at limiting the carbon emission per unit of product supplied with different modes. A mode corresponds to the combination of a production facility and a transportation mode and is characterized by its economical costs and its unitary carbon emission. Four types of constraints are proposed and analyzed in the single-item uncapacitated lot-sizing problem. The periodic case is shown to be polynomially solvable, while the cumulative, global and rolling cases are NP-hard. Perspectives to extend this work are discussed.     

Design,Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Pyrazolo[1,2,4]triazolopyrimidine Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents

Three novel pyrazolo-[4,3-e][1,2,4]triazolopyrimidine derivatives (1, 2, and 3) were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their in vitro biological activity. All three compounds exhibited different levels of cytotoxicity against cervical and breast cancer cell lines. However, compound 1 showed the best antiproliferative activity against all tested tumor cell lines, including HCC1937 and HeLa cells, which express high levels of wild-type epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Western blot analyses demonstrated that compound 1 inhibited the activation of EGFR, protein kinase B (Akt), and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk)1/2 in breast and cervical cancer cells at concentrations of 7 and 11 µM, respectively. The results from docking experiments with EGFR suggested the binding of compound 1 at the ATP binding site of EGFR. Furthermore, the crystal structure of compound 3 (7-(4-bromophenyl)-9-(pyridin-4-yl)-7H-pyrazolo[4,3-e][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidine) was determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Our work represents a promising starting point for the development of a new series of compounds targeting EGFR.     

Bounds and majorization relations for the critical points of polynomials

We apply several matrix inequalities to the derivative companion matrices of complex polynomials to establish new bounds and majorization relations for the critical points of these polynomials in terms of their zeros.     

Bounds on the chromatic polynomial and on the number of acyclic orientations of a graph

An upper bound is given on the number of acyclic orientations of a graph, in terms of the spectrum of its Laplacian. It is shown that this improves upon the previously known bound, which depended on the degree sequence of the graph. Estimates on the new bound are provided.A lower bound on the number of acyclic orientations of a graph is given, with the help of the probabilistic method. This argument can take advantage of structural properties of the graph: it is shown how to obtain stronger bounds for small-degree graphs of girth at least five, than are possible for arbitrary graphs. A simpler proof of the known lower bound for arbitrary graphs is also obtained.Both the upper and lower bounds are shown to extend to the general problem of bounding the chromatic polynomial from above and below along the negative real axis.Partially supported by the NSF under grant CCR-9404113. Accretion of Phantom Energy by Bardeen Black Hole

In this paper we deal with the accretion of phantom energy onto static spherically symmetric Bardeen black hole. It is shown that the mass of black hole reduces with the accretion of phantom energy. We compute accretion rate onto Bardeen black hole at critical point. Furthermore, we obtain the conditions at critical point, under which accretion is possible and also discuss certain relevant cases. Finally, we discuss the validity of generalized second law of thermodynamics at the event horizon of Bardeen black hole.     

The spectrum of a weighted Laplacian in the half‐space

J. Banasiak In this paper, we deal with spectral properties of a weighted Laplacian in the half‐space when a Dirichlet or a Neumann boundary condition is imposed. After proving that the spectrum is discrete under suitable assumptions, we give explicit formulae of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in a specific case. In particular, the obtained eigenfunctions are rational or pseudo‐rational and have remarkable orthogonality properties. These results suggest the use of the discovered functions for approximating solutions of elliptic problems in the half‐space. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Reactions with Hydrazidoyl Halides XII Synthesis of Pyrazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine,Selenadiazolo[3,2-a]quinazolones,Selenadiazoline, Thiadiazoline and Thiazole Derivatives

Several new pyrazolo[5,I-c]triazine, selenadiazoline, thiadiazoline, selenadiazolo[3,2-a]quitiazolone, and arylazothiazole derivatives were synthesised by the reaction of hydrazonoyl halides with different reagents. The structure of new heterocycles were assigned on the basis of their elemental analysis, spectral data, and alternate synthesis whenever possible.
