Numerical study of the thermal processes occurring in materials under irradiation with high-energy heavy ions

Numerical simulation of the thermal processes occurring in indium phosphide under the action of a heavy gold ion with the energy E ₀ = 200 MeV is carried out. The problem is solved taking into account phase transitions of the melting and evaporation types. Numerical studies are carried out on the basis of a modified thermal-peak model and the obtained results are analyzed.

A series of thioamides are transformed to their corresponding oxo analogues in good to excellent yields with acidified, wet, silica-supported tetrabutylammonium periodate under solvent-free conditions.     

Preparation of an experimental glass-ionomer cements and evaluation of their properties

The preparation of glass-ionomer cements based on the composition of SiO₂–Al₂O₃–CaO–SrO–F and evaluation of their properties is described. Cements were prepared via the sol–gel method and characterized by XRD, BET, SEM, and EDAX analysis. The effect of various concentrations of Sr on in vitro bioactivity of the glass speciments was investigated. In vitro bioactivity of the samples was evaluated by soaking them in simulated body fluid followed by structural characterization using SEM and atomic absorption analysis. A glass specimen with 0.5 mol of Sr exhibited appropriate bioactivity.

Kinetics and thermodynamics of uranium ion adsorption from waste solution using Amberjet 1200 H as cation exchanger

The present work deals with the adsorption of uranium from a nitric acid waste solution using the cation exchange resin Amberjet 1200 H (AHR) . Batch experiments were performed in order to assess the performance of AHR in uranium adsorption. The influences of pH, contact time, initial uranium concentration and temperature have been enhanced. The physical parameters including the adsorption kinetics, the isotherm models and the thermodynamic data have also been determined to determine the nature of the uranium adsorption by AHR. The studied resin has been agreed with both the pseudo second order reaction and Langmuir isotherm.     

Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone-bound boron trifluoride (PVPP-BF3); a mild and efficient catalyst for synthesis of 4-metyl coumarins via the Pechmann reaction

Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone-supported boron trifluoride has been studied for synthesis of 4-methyl coumarin by the Pechmann reaction. The reaction proceeded smoothly with hydroxyl phenols and ethyl acetoacetate in good yields in ethanol at reflux conditions. The polyvinylpolypyrrolidone-boron trifluoride complex is a non-corrosive and stable solid catalyst elevated Lewis acid property.     

KINETIC STUDY OF ALKOXIDE PROMOTED DECOMPOSITION OF ORGANIC PHOSPHONIUM COMPOUNDS Evidence for Hexacovalent Intermediate

Abstract

This study reports rate data of the alkoxide promoted decomposition of triphenyl 3-hydroxypropyl phosphonium chloride, diphenyl di(3-hydroxypropyl)phosphonium chloride, and tetraphenyl phosphonium bromide. Comparison of kinetics, rate constants, and activation parameters of the alkoxide promoted decompositions points to different mechanism as compared to the hydroxyl promoted reaction. The alkoxide reaction is believed to proceed via a hexacovalent intermediate. Reasons for the hexacovalent route are discussed.
