The steady (acoustic) streaming associated with a sphericaldrop displaced from the velocity antinode of a standing waveis studied. The ratio of the particle size to the acoustic wavelengthis treated as small but non-zero, and the solution is developedin the form of a two-term expansion in terms of the correspondingsmallness parameter. The drop viscosity is assumed to be muchhigher than that of the surrounding fluid, which is the casefor a drop in a gas medium. There are essentially three distinctregions where the steady streaming flow is analysed: insidethe drop (internal circulation), in the Stokes shear-wave layerat the surface on the gas side, and the gas outside the Stokeslayer (the outer streaming region). Solutions for the internalcirculation and the outer streaming are obtained in the limitof small Reynolds number. Despite the gas-to-liquid viscosity ratio being small, the outerstreaming may be dramatically affected by the fact that thesphere is liquid as opposed to solid. The parameter that measuresthe effect of liquidity is essentially the viscosity ratio dividedby the relative (to the particle size) thickness of the Stokeslayer. The case of a solid sphere is recovered by letting thisparameter go to zero.  相似文献

A new scheme for photonic information storage based on photothermal F to Z2 colour centre conversion is presented. Z2 centres are formed by F-band bleaching in the temperature range 300 to 500 K in additively coloured crystals of KCl doped with gadolinium. The variation of the optical density in the F-band is studied as a function of the logarithm of exposure in order to obtain the Hurter-Driffield characteristics of the storage medium. The ideal parameters of storage are arrived at and the writing sensitivity of the medium for the proposed process is determined. Photonic information storage using a helium-neon laser is demonstrated and the results are compared with other reported schemes.  相似文献

A kinetic reinvestigation of the title redox system in aqueous alkaline media at 35°C and an ionic strength of 0.5 mol dm?3 shows that the reaction follows a pseudosecond-order Fe(CN) disappearance. While varying [phenol]0 and [OH?] exhibit a linear influence on the pseudo-second-order rate constant, varying[Fe(CN)]0 and [Fe(CN)]0, initially taken, have a complicated inhibitory effect on the same. The major phenoloxidation products isolated under a chosen condition are 2,2′- and 4,4′- dihydroxydiphenyl. Results are interpreted in terms of a probable mechanism which envisages a reversible formation, by the first one-electron transfer, of a reactive phenoxy radical (PhO˙) which on the second one-electron transfer forms a less reactive ion-pair intermediate (stabilized by the Fe(CN) produced) to decompose rate-determiningly to phenoxonium cation (PhO+) and Fe(CN), the product-formation steps being very rapid and kinetically indistinguishable.  相似文献

Data on elastic constants and associated properties at high temperature for TmTe crystal are presented and discussed starting from primary physical parameters viz. nearest neighbour distance and hardness parameter assuming long- and short-range potentials. When the values of the higher order elastic constants are known for a crystal, many of the anharmonic properties of the crystal can be treated within the limit of the continuum approximation in a quantitative manner. In this study, higher order elastic constants and related properties are computed upto 1000 K for TmTe. The first-order pressure derivatives of second- and third-order elastic constants, the second-order pressure derivatives of second-order elastic constants and partial contractions are also evaluated at different temperatures. The results thus obtained are compared with other available data and found in well agreement with present values.  相似文献
