The oxidation of flavonoids is of great interest because of their action as antioxidants with the ability to scavenge radicals by means of electron-transfer processes. The redox reactions of the flavonoid derivative troxerutin, (2-[3,4-bis-(2-hydroxyethoxy) phenyl]-3[[6-deoxy-α-L-manno-pyranosyl)-β-(D-glucopyranosyl]-oxy]-5-hydroxy-7-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-4H-1-benzo-pyran-4-one), were investigated over a wide range of conditions, using pulse radiolysis and cyclic voltammetry. The oxidation mechanism proceeds in sequential steps. One-electron redox potentials for troxerutin were found to be +1.196, +0.846 and −0.634 V vs. NHE.  相似文献

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) studies of 5-amino tetrazole (5AT), a tetrazole derivative, in aqueous silver sol at pH approximately 9 and on deposited colloidal silver films were carried out and compared with the normal Raman spectrum of the molecule. The experimentally observed Raman bands along with their corresponding infrared bands were assigned based on the results of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The significant changes evidenced between the SERS and the normal Raman spectra combined with the theoretical data obtained for Ag-5AT system demonstrated that the molecule is adsorbed on colloidal Ag particles through the lone pair of electrons of the nitrogen atom. The contribution of the chemical mechanism for the SERS enhancement was proved by the behavior of the electronic absorption spectrum of the Ag colloid upon addition of 5AT. This is further supported by the theoretical calculations that show that the favorable interaction of the frontier orbitals localized on Ag(+) and the negatively charged nitrogen from the tetrazole ring leads to the formation of the stable (up to 130 kJ mol(-1)) charge-transfer complex. The orientation of the adsorbed species with respect to the metal surface was also predicted by applying the "surface selection rule". In addition, the feasibility of the formation of the polymeric species has also been discussed.  相似文献

Structural parameters of a set of five thiocarbonyl molecules in the lowest nπ* states are calculated by using a generalized orbital optimization algorithm (a variant of the orthogonal gradient method) in an INDO MCSCF framework. Transition energies, singlet-triplet splittings, planar inversion barriers, and dipole moments in nπ* states of different spin multiplicities are reported. Predicted structural features agree reasonably well with available experimental or theoretical data. Some interesting trends are noted in the computed inversion barrier heights, singlet-triplet splittings, and dipole moments in nπ* states.  相似文献

This paper presents a system-oriented model for analyzing the dispersion of electrophoretic transport of charged analyte molecules in a general-shaped microchannel, which is represented as a system of serially connected elemental channels of simple geometry. Parameterized analytical models that hold for analyte bands of virtually arbitrary initial shape are derived to describe analyte dispersion, including both the skew and broadening of the band, in elemental channels. These models are then integrated to describe dispersion in the general-shaped channel using appropriate parameters to represent interfaces of adjacent elements. This lumped-parameter system model offers orders-of-magnitude improvement in computational efficiency over full numerical simulations, and is verified by results from experiments and numerical simulations. The model is used to perform a systematic parametric study of serpentine channels consisting of a pair of complementary turn microchannels, and the results indicate that dispersion in a particular turn can contribute to either an increase or decrease of the overall band broadening. The efficiency and accuracy of the system model is further demonstrated by its application to general-shaped channels that occur in practice, including a serpentine channel with multiple complementary turns and a multi-turn spiral-shaped channel. The results indicate that our model is an accurate and efficient simulation tool useful for designing optimal electrophoretic separation microchips.  相似文献

The OH and the NO2 radicals generated pulse radiolytically in N2O-saturated aqueous solution at pH 8–8.5 oxidize Mesna to form the corresponding thiyl radicals which on reaction with thiolate ions form an RSSR type of transient with λmax = 420 nm. The rate constants for the formation of these transients were determined. In the absence of O2 at pH=6, the RS radicals formed show an absorption maximum at 360 nm and an ε=200±50 dm3 mol−1 cm−1. The rate constant k (OH+RSH) was 6×109 dm3 mol−1 s−1 as determined from competition kinetics. In the presence of O2 the Mesna thiyl radical was seen to rapidly add oxygen to form an RSOO type of species with λmax = 535 nm, ε=700±50 dm3 mol−1 cm−1 and k (RS+O2)=1.3×108 dm3 mol−1 s−1. Both the RS and the RSOO radicals formed by the oxidation of Mesna were able to abstract H-atoms from ascorbate ions and k(RS +AH)=~k(RSOO+AH)=~6−7×108 dm3 mol−1 s−1-. Moderately strong oxidants like CCl3OO and the (CH3)3CO radicals, having a reduction potential of +1.4−1.6 V vs NHE were unable to oxidize Mesna. The results thus reflect on the pro- and anti-oxidant properties of Mesna.  相似文献

Pulse-radiolysis reactions were performed to study the effect of hydrogen bonding to dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on the oxidation of dihydroxy benzene and biphenyl diols to phenoxyl radicals. It was observed that with DMSO as the hydrogen-bond acceptor, the oxidation process proceeds via proton-coupled electron transfer in the case of hydroquinone. For resorcinol, DMSO acts in a similar way as in the case of hydroquinone. For other biphenols, viz., 2,2′- and 4,4′-biphenyl diols, it was found that DMSO had no effect on the electron transfer. The results are explained based on the ionization potential and structure of the phenol derivatives which probably depends on the rotation of the OH bond causing different electron distribution in the transient conformation.  相似文献

The catalytic roles of ionic liquids (ILs) in the syntheses of 1,3-disubstituted ureas from the carboxylation of amines by CO(2) were experimentally and theoretically investigated. The carboxylation reaction of n-butylamine was greatly facilitated by the presence of an IL and the catalytic activity of the IL was strongly affected by the nucleophilicity of the anion. Computational study on the mechanistic aspects of the carboxylation with methylamine with or without the presence of an IL, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, implies that the activation energies of the transition states and the intermediate ionic species could be lowered significantly through the multi-interactions of the carbonyl group of CO(2) with both cations and anions of the ILs.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the evolution of phase-separating binary mixtures which are subjected to alternate cooling and heating cycles. An initially homogeneous mixture is rapidly quenched to a temperature T(1)T(c). These cycles are repeated to create a domain morphology with multiple length scales, i.e., the structure factor is characterized by multiple peaks. For phase separation in d = 2 systems, we present numerical and analytical results for the emergence and growth of this multiple-scale morphology.  相似文献

Four new neutral copper azido polymers, [Cu(4)(N(3))(8)(L(1))(2)](n) (1), [Cu(4)(N(3))(8)(L(2))(2)](n) (2), [Cu(4)(N(3))(8)(L(3))(2)](n) (3), and [Cu(9)(N(3))(18)(L(4))(4)](n) (4) [L(1-4) are formed in situ by reacting pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde with 2-[2-(methylamino)ethyl]pyridine (mapy, L(1)), N,N-dimethylethylenediamine (N,N-dmen, L(2)), N,N-diethylethylenediamine (N,N-deen, L(3)), and N,N,2,2-tetramethylpropanediamine (N,N,2,2-tmpn, L(4))], have been synthesized by using 0.5 mol equiv of the chelating tridentate ligands with Cu(NO(3))(2)·3H(2)O and an excess of NaN(3). Single-crystal X-ray structures show that the basic unit of these complexes, especially 1-3, contains very similar Cu(II)(4) building blocks. The overall structure of 3 is two-dimensional, while the other three complexes are one-dimensional in nature. Complex 1 represents a unique example containing hemiaminal ether arrested by copper(II). Complexes 1 and 2 have a rare bridging azido pathway: both end-on and end-to-end bridging azides between a pair of Cu(II) centers. Cryomagnetic susceptibility measurements over a wide range of temperature exhibit dominant ferromagnetic behavior in all four complexes. Density functional theory calculations (B3LYP functional) have been performed on complexes 1-3 to provide a qualitative theoretical interpretation of their overall ferromagnetic behavior.  相似文献

Tests have been made to benchmark and assess the relative accuracies of low-order multireference perturbation theories as compared to coupled cluster (CC) and full configuration interaction (FCI) methods. Test calculations include the ground and some excited states of the Be, H(2), BeH(2), CH(2), and SiH(2) systems. Comparisons with FCI and CC calculations show that in most cases the effective valence shell Hamiltonian (H(v)) method is more accurate than other low-order multireference perturbation theories, although none of the perturbative methods is as accurate as the CC approximations. We also briefly discuss some of the basic differences among the multireference perturbation theories considered in this work.  相似文献
