Long chain polymers owe many of their properties to the structural arrangements of their molecules and are extensively used for many industrial and applied sciences. One of such application is their perspective use in the field of solid-state nuclear track detectors. However they are profoundly influenced by low LET radiations exposure and new structural arrangements may emerge. CR-39 is one of the most popular polymeric track detectors, however its aliphatic nature restricts its applications. Thus in the present investigations the damage densities produced by solar radiations to the polymer have been estimated by analyzing the structural, physical and etching properties of the polymer. The polymer is found to be highly sensitive towards solar radiations and great changes in physical and structural properties of polymer have been observed. The sensitivity of the polymer has been found to decrease by 83.40% during eight months.   相似文献

To strengthen the radiation protection infrastructure in Bathinda, the uranium concentration in daily diet of the residents has been measured and its associated radiation risks were estimated for the adult population. Food samples were collected from major cancer prone areas of the district, from which daily diets were prepared. These diet samples were analyzed using fission track technique. The measured values of the uranium content were found to vary from 0.38 mBq/g in mustard seeds to 4.60 mBq/g in wheat. In case of milk the uranium content is found to vary from 28.57–213.36 mBq/ℓ with mean concentration of 61.35 mBq/ℓ. This leads to a daily dietary intake of 0.90 Bq/day. The measured value of 0.90 Bq d−1, contributes to 1.12 mSv to the cumulative effective dose to the population. This dose is much large than the International Commission for Radiological Protection (ICRP) annual effective dose limit of 1 mSv for the general public [1]. Therefore, it would pose significant health hazard.   相似文献

The saddle field fast atom beam sputtered (ABS) 50 nm thick molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) films as a diffusion barrier for copper metallization were investigated. To study the diffusion barrier properties of Mo2C films, the as-deposited and annealed samples were characterized using four probes, X-ray diffraction, field enhanced scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, atomic force microscopy and Rutherford back scattering techniques. The amorphous structure of the barrier films along with presence of carbon atoms at the molybdenum carbide-silicon interface is understood to reduce effective grain boundaries and responsible for increased thermal stability of Cu/Mo2C/Si structure. The lowest resistivity of the as-deposited molybdenum carbide barrier films was ∼29 μΩ cm. The low carbon containing molybdenum carbide was found thermally stable up to 700 °C, therefore can potentially be used as a diffusion barrier for copper metallization.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrated 20 ladder climbing steps on the anharmonic intermolecular potential in the amino-acid microcrystals with an intense monocycle terahertz pulse. Absorption spectra show the suppression of the peak and enhancement of the low-frequency absorption for the incident electric field amplitude. These results are reproduced by simulations based on coherent transition processes between quantum levels in the anharmonic potential. The appearance of such nonlinearity allows us to control macroscopic motion via a phase-controlled terahertz pulse.  相似文献

Background

Activation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK), a member of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family, has been proposed to mediate neurite outgrowth-promoting effects of several neurotrophic factors in vitro. However, the precise activity of ERK during axonal regeneration in vivo remains unclear. Peripheral axotomy has been shown to activate ERK in the cell bodies of primary afferent neurons and associated satellite cells. Nevertheless, whether ERK is also activated in the axons and surrounded Schwann cells which also play a key role in the regeneration process has not been clarified.

Results

Phosphorylation of ERK in the sciatic nerve in several time-points after crush injury has been examined. Higher phosphorylation of ERK was observed in the proximal and distal nerve stumps compared to the contralateral intact nerve from one day to one month after crush. The activation of ERK was mainly localized in the axons of the proximal segments. In the distal segments, however, active ERK was predominantly found in Schwann cells forming Bungner's bands.

Conclusion

The findings indicate that ERK is activated in both the proximal and distal nerve stumps following nerve injury. The role of activated ERK in Wallerian degeneration and subsequent regeneration in vivo remains to be elucidated.  相似文献

Finite element analysis was performed over a small particle field, edge constraint plane strain post-necking model. The aim is to understand the roles of particle shape, volume fraction and distribution over the post-necking deformation and fracture of AA5754-O sheet materials. For models containing one single particle, the post-necking deformation decreases when the particle varies from circular to elliptical. The inter-particle spacing, the major parameter of distribution to determine whether a pair of particles belongs to a stringer or not, was varied for models with two particles of circular or elliptical shape. The general trend is that the post-necking deformation and fracture strains decrease with decreasing spacing between particles. There is considerable difference in terms of both fracture topographies and strains for models containing 16 particles when distributions varied from random/uniform to stringer distributions. The post-necking deformation and fracture strains monotonically decrease with particle volume fractions for models with 4–64 particles of random or stringer distribution. This indicates that the post-necking behavior for AA5754-O alloys where the matrix material is rather ductile is not solely controlled by a single or pair of particles although they may become initiation places of damage. Multiple damaging sources such as stringers or large particles can act cooperatively and speed up the damaging propagation of the material, and therefore produce small post-necking deformation and early fracture. The center clustering of particles can be beneficial for post-necking behavior and bendability of sheet materials.  相似文献

Y-Ba-Cu-O films are grown on strontium titanate substrates by RF sputtering from a single composite target. A barium-deficient annular ring with diameter equal to that of the target dimension is repeatedly observed. Films inside this ring are deposited exclusively at the close target-substrate distance. At larger distances the films grow more in exterior regions rather than in the interior region of the ring. Stoichiometry, structural morphology and superconducting transition temperatures are studied for various regions of the film. The films are superconducting when sintered in flowing oxygen at 950°C with onset at 100 K and a broad transition width.  相似文献

The applicability of transient techniques to the study of the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide is discussed. The elastic, inelastic, and total intensities for x-ray and high-energy electron scattering from the 10-electron systems Ne, HF, H2O, NH3, and CH4 have been calculated by using SCF-MO wave functions obtained with double-zeta quality bases of Gaussian contractd wave functions. A series of poly(arylene ether)s were successfully prepared by aromatic, nucleophilic substitution reactions with various perfluoroalkyl‐activated bisfluoromonomers with 4,4′‐bishydroxybiphenyl and 4,4′‐bishydroxyterphenyl. 4,4′‐Bishydroxyterphenyl was synthesized through the Grignard coupling reaction of magnesium salt of 4‐bromoanisole with dibromobenzene followed by demethylation with pyridine–hydrochloride. The products obtained by the displacement of fluorine atoms exhibited good inherent viscosity, up to 0.77 dL/g, and number‐average molecular weights up to 69,300. These poly(arylene ether)s showed very good thermal stability, up to 548 °C for 5% weight loss according to thermogravimetric analysis under synthetic air, and high glass‐transition temperatures, up to 259 °C according to differential scanning calorimetry, depending on the exact repeat unit structure. These polymers were soluble in a wide range of organic solvents, such as N‐methylpyrrolidone, dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran, toluene, and CHCl3, and were insoluble in dimethyl sulfoxide and acetone. Thin films of these poly(arylene ether)s showed good transparency and exhibited tensile strengths up to 132 MPa, moduli up to 3.34 GPa, and elongations at break up to 84%, depending on their exact repeating unit structures. These values are comparable to those of high‐performance thermoplastic materials such as poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) and Ultem poly(ether imide) (PEI).
