The polarization dependent loss (PDL) of a singlemode–multimode–singlemode (SMS) fibre structure used as an edge filter is presented. Minor errors in the fabrication process for the SMS fibre structure can introduce SMS fibre core offsets. The PDL due to lateral and rotational core offsets is investigated numerically and experimentally. It is shown that small core offsets are necessary to achieve low PDL for an SMS fibre based edge filter. It is also demonstrated that when lateral core offsets are unavoidable, the PDL of a SMS edge filter can still be minimized by introducing a rotational core offset of 90°.  相似文献

High density of silicon nanowires (SiNWs) were synthesized by a hot-wire assisted plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. The structural and optical properties of the as-grown SiNWs prepared at different rf power of 40 and 80 W were analyzed in this study. The SiNWs prepared at rf power of 40 W exhibited highly crystalline structure with a high crystal volume fraction, XC of ~82% and are surrounded by a thin layer of SiOx. The NWs show high absorption in the high energy region (E>1.8 eV) and strong photoluminescence at 1.73 to 2.05 eV (red–orange region) with a weak shoulder at 1.65 to 1.73 eV (near IR region). An increase in rf power to 80 W reduced the XC to ~65% and led to the formation of nanocrystalline Si structures with a crystallite size of <4 nm within the SiNWs. These NWs are covered by a mixture of uncatalyzed amorphous Si layer. The SiNWs prepared at 80 W exhibited a high optical absorption ability above 99% in the broadband range between 220 and ~1500 nm and red emission between 1.65 and 1.95 eV. The interesting light absorption and photoluminescence properties from both SiNWs are discussed in the text.  相似文献

1,4,5-Trihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone is transformed regioselectively to the α-hydroxy dichlorides 18-21, which are cyclized to yield predominantely the naturally configurated 9,10-trans-diols 1,3,26, and 27 (80 to 96% d.e.). The monotrifluoroacetates 38-40 derived from the trans-diols are hydroxylated via bromination at C-7 to yield almost exclusively the 7,9-cis-9,10-trans-triols α1-rhodomycinone (4), feudomycinone D (7), and 4-0-methyl-β-rhodomycinone (42). The feudomycinones A (5) and C (6) are obtained with less chemo- and stereoselectivity by hydroxylation of the l0 Deoxycompounds 33 and 34.  相似文献

The solubilities of anthracene, acridine, xanthene, thioxanthene, carbazole, dibenzofuran, and dibenzothiophene have been experimentally determined in benzene, cyclohexane, thiophene, and pyridine from ambient temperature to approximately 440 K. The results have been correlated using the classical equation for solid-liquid solubility to obtain the experimental activity coefficient of the solute in the solvent. These experimental activity coefficients have been regressed, using three common solution models, to find the binary interaction parameters needed in those models. The solubilities of biphenyl, dibenzofuran, and dibenzothiophene have been experimentally determined in five binary mixtures of the solvents. The experimental activity coefficients have been found and compared to the values predicted by the four solution models, using the binary interaction parameters obtained from the solubilities in the pure solvents and solventsolvent binary interaction parameters obtained from literature vaporliquid equilibria data. The effect of substituting various heteroatoms into the ring structure has been discussed.  相似文献

With the trend for green technology, the study focused on utilizing a forgotten herb to produce an eco-friendly coating. Andrographis paniculata or the kalmegh leaves extract (KLE) has been investigated for its abilities in retarding the corrosion process due to its excellent anti-oxidative and antimicrobial properties. Here, KLE was employed as a novel additive in coatings and formulations were made by varying its wt%: 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12. These were applied to stainless steel 316L immersed in seawater for up to 50 days. The samples were characterized and analyzed to measure effectiveness of inhibition of corrosion and microbial growth. The best concentration was revealed to be 6 wt% KLE; it exhibited the highest performance in improving the ionic resistance of the coating and reducing the growth of bacteria.  相似文献

The monolayer of organic molecules at the air-water interface has been studied using the Maxwell displacement current (MDC) technique. The materials used in this study were the biological materials of phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidic acids (PA). The configuration of the experimental set-up consists of the metal/air-gap/monolayer/metal coupled with the Langmuir method. This measurement enables the detection of current without destroying the monolayer. The phase transition and molecular orientation of the phospholipid monolayers were investigated using MDC measurement without mechanical contact between electrodes and the materials. Direct evidence of phase transition from gaseous to the polar ordering phase can be obtained across phospholipid monolayers even though at very low surface pressure. Relaxation process of the phospholipid monolayers was investigated by using the step compression on the MDC signals.  相似文献

The electronic structure and stability of pyrrolyl are investigated using CASSCF, CASPT2 and G2(MP2) techniques. The ground state of pyrrolyl is found to be 2A2, with five π-electrons, as in cyclopentadienyl. The computed N–H bond energy of pyrrole is 94.8 kcal mol−1, while the heat of formation ΔfH298o of pyrrolyl is deduced to be 70.5±1 kcal mol−1. The Arrhenius parameters of N–H and C–H bond fission in pyrrole and cyclopentadiene and hydrogen abstraction reactions (by hydrogen) were also computed, indicating that pyrrolyl forms predominantly by C–H bond fission of pyrrolenine rather than by direct N–H bond fission.  相似文献

Radon alpha activity concentration has been measured in 28 homes in the Erbil Capital-Iraqi Kurdistan region during the autumn season by using time-integrated passive radon dosimeters containing CR-39 solid state nuclear track detectors “SSNTDs”. The radon activity concentrations in these homes range from (10.33–90.34) with an average of . The average absorption effective dose equivalent for a person living in homes for which the investigation were done was found to be , obtained by using an equilibrium factor of 0.5 and an occupancy factor of 0.8. The average lung cancer cases per year per 106 person was found to be 23±12.  相似文献

In this work, silicon suboxide (SiOx) thin films were deposited using a RF magnetron sputtering system. A thin layer of gold (Au) with a thickness of about 10 nm was sputtered onto the surface of the deposited SiOx films prior to the thermal annealing process at 400 °C, 600 °C, 800 °C and 1000 °C. The optical and structural properties of the samples were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical transmission and reflection spectroscopy. SEM analyses demonstrated that the samples annealed at different temperatures produced different Au particle sizes and shapes. SiOx nanowires were found in the sample annealed at 1000 °C. Au particles induce the crystallinity of SiOx thin films in the post-thermal annealing process at different temperatures. These annealed samples produced silicon nanocrystallites with sizes of less than 4 nm, and the Au nanocrystallite sizes were in the range of 7-23 nm. With increased annealing temperature, the bond angle of the Si-O bond increased and the optical energy gap of the thin films decreased. The appearance of broad surface plasmon resonance absorption peaks in the region of 590-740 nm was observed due to the inclusion of Au particles in the samples. The results show that the position and intensity of the surface plasmon resonance peaks can be greatly influenced by the size, shape and distribution of Au particles.  相似文献

The air-dried powdered stem bark of Calophyllum nodusum (Guttiferea) collected from Sandakan (Sabah, Malaysia), was extracted sequentially with hexane, chloroform and methanol. The solvents were removed by rotary evaporator to give dark viscous extracts. Detailed and repeated chromatographic separation of the extracts lead to isolation of two new xanthones, identified as nodusuxanthone and trapezifolixanthone A. Other common terpenoids such as betulinic acid, lupeol, stigmasterol and friedelin were also isolated from the extracts and identified. The structures of the compounds were established by detailed spectral analysis and comparison with previously reported data.  相似文献
