Cavitands and capsules define nanoliter spaces for recognition, isolation and reactions of small molecules. These systems are usually self-assembled and factors such as solvent size, stoichiometry, and packing factors determine what goes into the spaces. Here we examine two switching devices to control what and when guests get in and out of these hosts: bipyridyl-metal chelation and azobenzene photoisomerization. The effects are reversible by treatment with conventional chelating agents and brief heating, respectively. Accordingly, it is possible to trigger reactions that take place within a cylindrical capsule by light, even though the reaction process is not photochemical by nature. Likewise the presence of metals can regulate reactions without acting as direct catalysts.  相似文献

Reduced layered M(C4H4N2)V4O10 ((I, M = Co; II, M = Ni; III, M = Zn); C4H4N2 = pyrazine, pyz) hybrid solids were synthesized via hydrothermal reactions at 200-230 degrees C, and their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (Cmcm, No. 63, Z = 4; a = 14.311(2), 14.2372(4), 14.425(1) A; b = 6.997(1), 6.9008(2), 6.9702(6) A; and c = 11.4990(8), 11.5102(3), 11.479(1) A; for I, II, and III, respectively). All three solids are isostructural and contain V4O102- layers condensed from edge- and corner-shared VO5 square pyramids. A single symmetry-unique V atom is reduced by 1/2 electron (on average) and bonds via its apical oxygen atom to interlayer Mpyz2+ chains. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show a strong temperature dependence and a Curie constant that is consistent with two randomly localized spins per V4O10(2-) formula for III. Further, the unusual discovery of a remarkably well-defined transition to a singlet ground state, as well as formation of a spin gap, is found for III at 22(1) K. The temperature-dependent electrical conductivities show apparent activation energies of 0.36 (I), 0.46 (II), and 0.59 eV (III). During heating cycles in flowing N2, the samples exhibit weight losses corresponding to the removal of predominantly pyrazine, pyrazine fragments, and CO2 via reaction of pyrazine with the vanadate layer. The complete removal of pyrazine without loss of crystallinity is found for well-ground samples of I and III. The SEM images of I and II after heating at 400-500 degrees C show relatively intact crystals, but at 600 degrees C further structural collapse results in the formation of macropores at the surfaces.  相似文献

L-454,560 is a potent phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor which was identified as a development candidate for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). As part of the discovery of this compound, interspecies in vitro metabolism data was generated using liver microsomes and hepatocytes in order to understand the metabolic fate of the compound. In microsomes, metabolism of the 3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole ring was the predominant pathway observed, including ring cleavage. In rat hepatocytes, hydroxylation of the methyl group on the oxadiazole ring and double-bond isomerization were the most abundant metabolites observed. No major species differences were found in terms of microsomal metabolite profiles. The use of LC with UV and MS detection is highlighted, as well as information from tandem mass spectrometry and NMR.  相似文献

Thin films of lithium ferrite (with general composition Li0.5Fe2.5O4) were fabricated at low temperatures (up to 650 °C) by citrate-route using spin-deposition technique. Deposited films consisted of nanometer-sized grains as evidenced by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques. XRD patterns for annealed films showed broad peaks exhibiting a spinel phase. Size of nanocrystallites is estimated to be 3-7 nm using Scherrer's equation. Average grain size ∼8.5 nm is observed from TEM images of films annealed at 650 °C. Scanning electron micrographs show the formation of spherical aggregates of around 130 nm in diameter. The AFM analysis clearly evidenced the development of nanograins even at low (∼500 °C) annealing temperatures. Significant decrease in complex dielectric permittivity (′ − j″) with frequency is observed in the low frequency (100 Hz-1 MHz) as well as in X-band microwave frequency (8-12 GHz) region. ′ is found to be in the range of 15.7-33.9 in low frequency region, whereas in X-band microwave frequency region, it is found to lie between 3.9 and 4.9. Similarly, ″ is found to be 0.16-5.9 in the low frequency region, and 0.002-0.024 in the X-band microwave frequency region. Room temperature dc resistivity of these films is estimated to lie in the range of 106-108 Ω cm. These results strongly suggest that citrate-route processed nanocrystalline lithium ferrite thin films are promising candidates for monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs).  相似文献
