The thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) technique has been used to study the slow molecular mobility of polysulfone in the glassy state and in the glass transformation region, i.e., in the temperature ranging from ?155 to 183 °C. Since the polysulfone is a rigid polymer without polar side-groups, a broad and low-intensity secondary relaxation was detected in the temperature region from ?120 °C up to the glass transition; the activation energy of the motional modes of this secondary relaxation is in the range between 35 and 100 kJ mol?1. The glass transition temperature of polysulfone provided by the TSDC technique is T M = T g = 176 °C (at 4 °C min?1). The relaxation time at this temperature is τ(T g) = 33 s and the fragility index was found to be m = 91. Our results are compared with literature values obtained by dynamic mechanical analysis and by dielectric relaxation spectroscopy. The amorphous polysulfone was also characterized by DSC; a glass transition signal with an onset at T on = 185.5 ± 0.3 °C (heating rate 10 °C min?1) was detected, with ΔC p = 0.21 ± 0.01 J g?1 °C?1. 相似文献

One‐dimensional iron oxide materials fabricated on conducting glass substrates and their unique properties make these nanostructures promising candidates for a wide range of applications. Herein, vertically oriented α‐Fe2O3 nanorod arrays synthesized under hydrothermal conditions over a large area are described, as an active platform for surface‐enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) and surface‐enhanced fluorescence (SEF). From scanning electron microscopy images the formation of a homogeneous distribution of vertically oriented rods in a large area is confirmed. For activating the localized surface plasmon resonances, which are responsible for SERRS and SEF, a 6 nm layer of Ag is deposited onto the α‐Fe2O3 nanorod arrays by physical vapor deposition to form Ag islands. 相似文献

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used and can reduce musculoskeletal pain in spite of the cost of adverse reactions like gastrointestinal ulcers or cardiovascular events. The current study investigates if a safer treatment such as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) could reduce tendinitis inflammation, and whether a possible pathway could be through inhibition of either of the two-cyclooxygenase (COX) isoforms in inflammation. Wistar rats (six animals per group) were injected with saline (control) or collagenase in their Achilles tendons. Then, we treated them with three different doses of IR LLLT (810 nm; 100 mW; 10 s, 30 s and 60 s; 3.57 W cm(-2); 1 J, 3 J, 6 J) at the sites of the injections, or intramuscular diclofenac, a nonselective COX inhibitor/NSAID. We found that LLLT dose of 3 J significantly reduced inflammation through less COX-2-derived gene expression and PGE(2) production, and less edema formation compared to nonirradiated controls. Diclofenac controls exhibited significantly lower PGE(2) cytokine levels at 6 h than collagenase control, but COX isoform 1-derived gene expression and cytokine PGE(2) levels were not affected by treatments. As LLLT seems to act on inflammation through a selective inhibition of the COX-2 isoform in collagenase-induced tendinitis, LLLT may have potential to become a new and safer nondrug alternative to coxibs. 相似文献

The 275GHz electron-paramagnetic-resonance spectrometer we reported on in 2004 has been equipped with a new probe head, which contains a cavity especially designed for operation in continuous-wave mode. The sensitivity and signal stability that is achieved with this new probe head is illustrated with 275GHz continuous-wave spectra of a 1mM frozen solution of the complex Fe(III)-ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid and of 10mM frozen solutions of the protein rubredoxin, which contains Fe(3+) in its active site, from three different organisms. The high quality of the spectra of the rubredoxins allows the determination of the zero-field-splitting parameters with an accuracy of 0.5GHz. The success of our approach results partially from the enhanced absolute sensitivity, which can be reached using a single-mode cavity. At least as important is the signal stability that we were able to achieve with the new probe head. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the influence of the extraction method, chemical composition, antimicrobial effects, antioxidant activity, and cytotoxicity on human cells of the non-polar extracts of grape (Vitis labrusca) and blackberry (Rubus fruticosus) seeds. The Soxhlet (Sox), Bligh–Dyer (BD), and ultrasound (US) methods were used for extractions. For blackberry non-polar seed extract, extraction via the BD method showed the highest mean values of total phenolic content (TPC), expressed in milligrams of gallic acid equivalent per 100 mL of non-polar seed extracts (102.37 mg GAE/100 mL), and higher antioxidant activity in relation to the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical, expressed in milligrams of gallic acid equivalent per 100 mL of non-polar seed extracts (11.50 mg AAE/100 mL), if compared with the Sox and US extractions. Similar results were obtained for the non-polar grape seed extracts, where BD extraction obtained the highest values for TPC (28.61 mg GAE/100 mL) and DPPH (35.36 mg AAE/100 mL). The type of extraction method had an impact on the composition of fatty acids. Only the non-polar blackberry and grape seed extracts obtained via the Sox method showed some in vitro inhibitory effect against Escherichia coli (IAL 2064) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 13565). Regardless of the extraction method used, the non-polar blackberry and grape seed extracts did not decrease the cell viability (IC50 >1000 µg/mL) of cancer and normal cell lines, thus indicating the relative safety of the extracts. All the seed extracts decreased the generation of reactive oxygen species in the cell lines. Blackberry and grape seed lipid fractions can be utilized as antioxidants, and the extraction methods used cause significant changes in relation to their bioactivity and chemical composition. 相似文献

The efficient synthesis of a series of novel side-chain carboxylated 5,9-diaminobenzo[a]phenoxazinium salts is described. The ring system was prepared by the reaction of 5-alkylamino-2-nitrosophenol hydrochlorides with the appropriate N-alkylated-naphthylamine. Evaluation of the visible and fluorescence properties of the cationic dyes was carried out in ethanol and water at physiological pH. In both solvents they showed intense visible absorption maxima in the range 500-638 nm (ethanol) and 625-650 (water), and fluoresced strongly, with fluorescence maxima from 612 to 669 nm (ethanol) and from 654 to 685 nm (water). A wide variation in fluorescence quantum yields is observed, ranging from 0.051 to 0.50 and 0.065 to 0.32 in ethanol and water, respectively. 相似文献

Synthesis, characterisation and antimicrobial activity of new benzo[a]phenoxazine based fluorophores
N-[5-(3-Aminopropylamino)-10-methyl-9H-benzo[a]phenoxazin-9-ylidene]ethanaminium chloride (Bze-NH2) was prepared and used as a precursor in the synthesis of new polycyclic cationic dyes. In addition to the potentiality of Bze-NH2 as a non-covalent fluorescent probe, the presence of a free amino group in its structure prompted us to study the application of this functionalised heterocycle in the covalent labelling of glycine and valine amino acids, as models of biomolecules. All compounds obtained showed strong absorbance and high emission at long-wavelengths (λem >640 nm). Furthermore, all benzo[a]phenoxazine derivatives synthesised were evaluated as antifungal agents against Saccharomyces cerevisiae, considering the commercial Nile Blue A (NB) as a lead compound. The results revealed that they exhibited good activity, which was usually superior to NB, the most effective compound displaying a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 15 μM. 相似文献

The effect of ionic strength and pH on phosphatidylcholine (PC) adsorption from vesicles on silica nanoparticles was investigated over a range of NaCl concentrations (0.1-150 mM) at pH 6.3 and 7.4 from determination of adsorption isotherms, colloid stability, particle sizing, and zeta-potentials. At and above 10 mM ionic strength, pH 6.3, high-affinity adsorption isotherms with limiting adsorption indicative of one-bilayer deposition on each silica particle were obtained. At 10 mM ionic strength, adsorption isotherms indicated lower affinity between PC and silica at pH 7.4 than at pH 6.3, suggesting a role of hydrogen bonding between silanol on silica and phosphate on PC in promoting bilayer deposition at low pH. Under conditions where high affinity and bilayer deposition were achieved, silica sedimentation documented from photographs was absent, suggesting particle stabilization induced by bilayer coverage. However, at physiological (150 mM NaCl) or close to physiological ionic strength (140 mM NaCl), the large colloid stability similarly achieved at pH 6.3 or 7.4 suggested the major role of van der Waals attraction between the PC bilayer vesicle and silica particle in determining bilayer deposition. The effect of increasing ionic strength was increasing van der Waals attraction, which caused PC vesicle disruption with bilayer deposition and bilayer-induced silica stabilization. 相似文献
