Flow cytometry (FCM) technique was applied to rapid determination of cell number ofLactococcus garvieae. An antiserum againstL. garvieae was prepared and its immunological property was examined. The present antibody would recognize some epitopes ofL. garvieae with a high specificity. The optimum conditions for the FCM assay were as follows: discriminate value, 60; dilution ratio
of the antiserum, 1.0 X 104. Calibration curve forL. garvieae cells was linear, in the range of 2.4 X 104-1.5 X 107 cells/mL. The detection ofL. garvieae in cell suspensions contaminated withEscherichia coli was carried out. A good correlation was observed in the range of 20–90% for the mixing ratio ofL. garvieae. A combined stopped-flow temperature-jump apparatus interfaced with a dedicated microcomputer has been used to study the complexation reaction of iron(III) with thiocyanate in aqueous solution. Caragana tibetica KOM. (Fabaceae) is a medicinal plant that has been traditionally used in western part of China. In the course of our screening study on antioxidant activity of medicinal plants, the 70% acetone extract of the stems of C. tibetica was found to have a potent superoxide anion scavenging activity. Tibeticanol (1), a new piceatannol dimer possessing antioxidant activity, was isolated along with eleven known aromatic compounds. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of NMR and MS data. Enzyme oxidation of monomeric stilbene, piceatannol (3), with horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide yielded cassigarol E (5) and G (6) as major products. Bacterial cold water disease, caused by Flavobacterium psychrophilum, is a serious problem in the aquaculture industry worldwide. Several methods to prevent and treat cold water disease have
been studied. Although detection at the early stage of F. psychrophilum infection is very important for the prevention and treatment of cold water disease, an effective detection method has not
yet been developed. The use of flow cytometry (FCM) for the rapid determination of bacterial cell numbers with high sensitivity
is beginning to attract attention. Immunomagnetic separation (IMS) has also been used to detect F. psychrophilum. The purpose of the present study was to develop a method to quickly determine the number of bacterial cells by combining
the FCM and IMS methods. Because samples can be more effectively concentrated using smaller magnetic beads and stronger magnetism,
we used carbonyl iron powder as the magnetic beads for the IMS. The detection level of F. psychrophilum using FCM combined with IMS was 5 orders lower than that using FCM without IMS. The values determined using FCM combined
with IMS strongly correlated with those obtained using the colony-counting method, in the range of approximately 10–108 colony-forming units per milliliter. One FCM assay could be completed within 60 s and the total assay time, including sample
preparation, was less than 2 h. The combined method of FCM with IMS developed in this study can be used reliably for the rapid

3‐Iodothyronamine (T1AM) is a novel metabolite of thyroid hormone. In HEK‐293 cells expressing an orphan G‐protein coupled receptor, the trace amine receptor, T1AM, potently increased cAMP accumulation. In mice, T1AM rapidly induced hypothermia and bradycardia within minutes of administration. These results suggest the existence of a new signaling pathway, the stimulation of which leads to rapid physiological and behavioral consequences. This paper discusses the sufficient conditions for chaotic behavior in piecewise-linear sampled-data control systems by applying Shiraiwa-Kurata's theorem. First, it is shown that a discrete-time system with a piecewise-linear element is chaotic if the lower-dimensional system induced from the original system has a snapback repeller. Next, this result is applied to a piecewise-linear sampled-data control system. Finally, the chaotic region for a two-dimensional sampled-data control system with a dead zone element is studied, and two types of transition from a fixed point to a chaotic attractor are studied by numerical simulation. 相似文献
