The self-assembling behavior of random copolymers of sodium 2-(acrylamido)-2-methylpropanesulfonate (AMPS)and hydrophobic comonomers possessing dodecyl groups linked by various spacer bonds was discussed with a focus on theeffect of the spacer. The characterization of association behavior of such polymers in water using quasielastic light scattering,capillary electrophoresis, NMR relaxation, various fluorescence, and viscoelastic methods was described. These copolymersform a variety of self-assembled nanostructures depending on the type of the spacer. Random copolymers of AMPS and N-dodecylmethacrylamide show a strong preference for intrapolymer self-association even in concentrated aqueous solutionsforming single-macromolecular self-assemblies (unimolecular micelles). In contrast, random copolymers of AMPS anddodecyl methacrylate are prone to undergo interpolymer associations yielding multipolymer micelles. In random copolymersof AMPS and a methacrylate substituted a nonionic surfactant (HO(CH_2CH_2O)_(25)C_(12)H_(25)) (C_(12)E_(25)), dodecyl groups are muchless restricted by the polymer backbone because they are linked via a long, flexible hydrophilic spacer. Thus, the polymer-bound C_(12)E_(25) surfactant moieties form micelles similar to those formed by discrete surfactants, but they are bridged bypolymer chains forming a network structure. 相似文献

The infrared (IR) spectra of alkali and alkaline earth metal ion complexes with the Ac-Tyr-NHMe (GYG) peptide have been measured by laser photodissociation in a cold ion trap coupled with an electrospray mass spectrometer. The GYG peptide corresponds to a portion of the ion selectivity filter in the KcsA K+ channel that allows K+ to pass, but blocks Na+ even though it has a smaller ionic radius than K+. This current study extends a previous investigation on Na+ and K+ to the entire set of alkali metaI ions and alkaline earth dications. IR-IR hole-burning (IR2 dip) spectroscopy has established the coexistence of several conformers of the GYG-metal ion complexes. The structures of the conformers were assigned by comparison between the isomer-selected IR spectra and theoretical IR spectra obtained from quantum chemical calculations. It was found that the structure of the dominant conformer correlates with the ability of the ion to permeate through the K+ channel. 相似文献

The He(I) photoelectron spectra of acetylacetone (HAA) and its metallo complexes, M(II)(AA)2 (M(II) = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn), have been measured. These spectra show characteristic metal-dependence, from which the assignment is made. The order of the orbital energy level, d > π3 > n? > n+, holds for all the complexes reported here. A multiple object-beam holography is proposed, where a two-dimensional rectangular amplitude grating and a phase plate of matrix form placed at the frequency plane of the grating constitute the main parts of a speckle-free periodic illumination system of continuous tone transparencies.
