The thermal conductance of individual single crystalline silicon nanowires with diameters less than 30 nm has been measured from 20 to 100 K. The observed thermal conductance shows unusual linear temperature dependence at low temperatures, as opposed to the T3 dependence predicted by the conventional phonon transport model. In contrast to previous models, the present study suggests that phonon-boundary scattering is highly frequency dependent, and ranges from nearly ballistic to completely diffusive, which can explain the unexpected linear temperature dependence. 相似文献

The proposed Penning trap mass spectrometer, to be located at the TASCC facility of the Chalk River Laboratories, is described. The facility will be used for precise atomic mass determinations among both stable and unstable nuclides. The unstable nuclides would be produced in heavy ion reactions using the TASCC facility. The products from these reactions would be collected using an He-jet transport system loaded with NaCl aerosols. After transport to a background free area, the nuclides of interest would be laser desorbed and resonantly ionized. Subsequently, these ions would be accumulated in a Paul trap, cooled and injected into a precision Penning trap mass spectrometer for mass analysis. 相似文献

The effect of level and frequency on the audibility of partials was measured for complex tones with partials uniformly spaced on an equivalent rectangular bandwidth (ERB(N)) number scale. On each trial, subjects heard a sinusoidal "probe" followed by a complex tone. The probe was mistuned downwards or upwards (at random) by 4.5% from the frequency of one randomly selected partial in the complex. The subject indicated whether the probe was higher or lower in frequency than the nearest partial in the complex. The frequencies were roved from trial to trial, keeping frequency ratios fixed. In experiment 1, the level per partial, L, was 40 or 70 dB SPL and the mean frequency of the central partial, f(c), was 1201 Hz. Scores for the highest and lowest partials in the complexes were generally high for all spacings. Scores for the inner partials were close to chance at 0.75-ERB(N) spacing, and improved as the spacing was increased up to 2 ERB(N). For intermediate spacings, performance was better for the lower level used. In experiment 2, L was 70 dB SPL and f(c) was 3544 Hz. Performance worsened markedly for partial frequencies above 3544 Hz, consistent with a role of phase locking. 相似文献

Fusion cross-sections for the 7Li + 12C reaction have been measured at energies above the Coulomb barrier by the direct detection of evaporation residues. The heavy
evaporation residues with energies below 3 MeV could not be separated out from the α-particles in the spectrum and hence their
contribution was estimated using statistical model calculations. The present work indicates that suppression of fusion cross-sections

Dye aggregation is detrimental to the performance of high optical density dye-doped photonic materials. To overcome this challenge,
the ability of cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) as a molecular host to disrupt aggregate formation on glass substrates was examined.
Rhodamine B was covalently attached to glass slides by initially coating the surface with azidohexylsiloxane followed by copper-catalyzed
“click” triazole formation with rhodamine B propargyl ester. The absorption and emission spectra of rhodamine B coated slides
in water indicated diverse heterogeneous properties as surface dye density varied. Fluorescence quenching due to dye aggregation
was evident at high surface dye density. Addition of aqueous cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) to the surface-tethered dyes perturbed
the spectra to reveal a considerable reduction in heterogeneity, which suggested that the presence of a surface in close proximity
