Energy spectra and angular distribution of nucleons emitted in intermediate energy heavy ion collisions prior to equilibrium are calculated. The spectra have two components: (a) promptly emitted particles (PEPS) or Fermi jets; (b) emission from a localized excited region at the interface of the two colliding ions. Several high-resolution imaging techniques such as FESEM, TEM and AFM are compared with respect to their application on alginate hydrogels, a widely used polysaccharide biomaterial. A new AFM method applicable to RGD peptides covalently conjugated to alginate hydrogels is described. High-resolution images of RGD adhesion ligand distribution were obtained by labeling biotinylated RGD peptides with streptavidin-labeled gold nanoparticles. This method may broadly provide a useful tool for sECM characterization and design for tissue regeneration strategies.  相似文献

The lattice of ordered compactifications of a topological sum of a finite number of totally ordered spaces is investigated. This investigation proceeds by decomposing the lattice into equivalence classes determined by the identification of essential pairs of singularities. This lattice of equivalence classes is isomorphic to a power set lattice. Each of these equivalence classes is further decomposed into equivalence classes determined by admissible partially ordered partitions of the ordered Stone–ech remainder. The lattice structure within each equivalence class is determined using an algorithm based on the incidence matrix of the partially ordered partition. As examples, the ordered compactification lattices for the spaces [0,1)[0,1),[0,1)[0,1)[0,1),RR, and R/{0}R/{0} are determined.  相似文献

Dendronized polymers are a particularly interesting platform for the preparation of advanced semiconductors given their high degree of functionalization, monodispersity, and bulkiness. Despite advantageous features, the incorporation of dendritic moieties in semiconducting polymers is still relatively underexplored, and the impact on the optoelectronic, thermomechanical, and solid-state properties are difficult to predict. This work focuses on the incorporation of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendritic side chains to semicrystalline polymers based on diketopyrrolopyrrole. Using a versatile synthetic strategy based on the azide-alkyne Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, dendronized semiconducting polymers were prepared and the effect of the dendritic side chains on different properties were carefully characterized using different techniques. The dendritic side chains were found to reduce aggregation and crystallinity of the polymers in thin films. PAMAM-containing semiconducting polymers were also shown to have good charge transport properties in organic field-effect transistors, within the same order of magnitude to that of diketopyrrolopyrrole-based polymers bearing branched alkyl chains. This new design approach is particularly interesting to develop advanced semiconducting polymers given its synthetic versatility and the structural diversity of the dendronized moieties. Furthermore, the utilization of dendritic moieties in semiconducting polymers is a promising approach to fine-tune the thermomechanical properties toward semiconducting polymers for next-generation organic electronics.  相似文献

Injectable delivery vehicles in tissue engineering are often required for successful tissue formation in a minimally invasive manner. Shear‐reversibly crosslinked hydrogels, which can recover gel structures from shear‐induced breakdown, can be useful as an injectable, because gels can flow as a liquid when injected but re‐gel once placed in the body. In this study, injectable and shear‐reversible alginate hydrogels were prepared by combination crosslinking using cell‐crosslinking and ionic crosslinking techniques. The addition of a small quantity of calcium ions decreased the number of cells that were required to form cell‐crosslinked hydrogels without changing the shear reversibility of the system. The physical properties and gelation behavior of the gels were dependent on the concentration of both the cells and the calcium ions. We found that gels crosslinked by combination crosslinking methods were effective to engineer cartilage tissues in vivo. Using both ionic and cell‐crosslinking methods to control the gelation behavior may allow the design of novel injectable systems that can be used to deliver cells and other therapeutics for minimally invasive therapy, including tissue engineering.

Elemental analysis of glass was conducted by 16 forensic science laboratories, providing a direct comparison between three analytical methods [micro-x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (μ-XRF), solution analysis using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry]. Interlaboratory studies using glass standard reference materials and other glass samples were designed to (a) evaluate the analytical performance between different laboratories using the same method, (b) evaluate the analytical performance of the different methods, (c) evaluate the capabilities of the methods to correctly associate glass that originated from the same source and to correctly discriminate glass samples that do not share the same source, and (d) standardize the methods of analysis and interpretation of results. Reference materials NIST 612, NIST 1831, FGS 1, and FGS 2 were employed to cross-validate these sensitive techniques and to optimize and standardize the analytical protocols. The resulting figures of merit for the ICP-MS methods include repeatability better than 5 % RSD, reproducibility between laboratories better than 10 % RSD, bias better than 10 %, and limits of detection between 0.03 and 9 μg g?1 for the majority of the elements monitored. The figures of merit for the μ-XRF methods include repeatability better than 11 % RSD, reproducibility between laboratories after normalization of the data better than 16 % RSD, and limits of detection between 5.8 and 7,400 μg g?1. The results from this study also compare the analytical performance of different forensic science laboratories conducting elemental analysis of glass evidence fragments using the three analytical methods.

Unregulated growth promoter use in food-producing animals is an issue of concern both from food safety and animal welfare perspectives. However, the monitoring of such practices is analytically challenging due to the concerted actions of users to evade detection. Techniques based on the monitoring of biological responses to exogenous administrations have been proposed as more sensitive methods to identify treated animals. This study has, for the first time, profiled plasma proteome responses in bovine animals to treatment with nortestosterone decanoate and 17β-oestradiol benzoate, followed by dexamethasone administration. Two-dimensional fluorescence differential in-gel electrophoresis analysis revealed a series of hepatic and acute-phase proteins within plasma whose levels were up- or down-regulated within phases of the treatment regime. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) immuno-assays were developed to quantify responses of identified protein markers during the experimental treatment study with a view to developing methods which can be used as screening tools for growth promoter abuse detection. SPR analysis demonstrated the potential for plasma proteins to be used as indicative measures of growth promoter administrations and concludes that the sensitivity and robustness of any detection approach based on plasma proteome analysis would benefit from examination of a range of proteins representative of diverse biological processes rather being reliant on specific individual markers.  相似文献

This study describes the myosin composition of extrafusal and intrafusal muscle fibers found in the human thyroarytenoid (TA) and sternohyoid (control) muscles. We sought to determine the presence of muscle spindles in the TA muscle, and to identify unusual extrafusal fiber types, using the commonly accepted approach of tissue staining with myosin isoform specific antibodies. Extrafusal fibers are organized into motor units, which subsequently produce muscle movement, whereas intrafusal fibers compose muscle spindles, the primary stretch receptor that provides afferent (feed back) information to the nervous system for regulation of motor unit length and tonicity. Immunohistochemical identification of muscle spindles was confirmed in sternohyoid, but not in TA samples; however, some extrafusal fibers contained tonic myosin. These results indicate that human TA muscle functions similar to some mammalian extraocular muscle, performing unloaded (non-weight bearing) contractions without afferent information from native muscle spindles.  相似文献

Scheduling problems are often modeled as resourceconstrained problems in which critical resource assignments to tasks are known and the best assignment of resource time must be made subject to these constraints. Generalization toresource scheduling, where resource assignments are chosen concurrently with times results is a problem which is much more difficult. A simplified model of the general resource scheduling model is possible, however, in which tasks must be assigned a singleprimary resource, subject to constraints resulting from preassignment ofsecondary, or auxiliary, resources. This paper describes extensions and enhancements of tabu search for the special case of the resource scheduling problem described above. The class of problems is further restricted to those where it is reasonable to enumerate both feasible time and primary resource assignments. Potential applications include shift oriented production and manpower scheduling problems as well as course scheduling where classrooms (instructors) are primary and instructors (rooms) and students are secondary resources. The underlying model is a type of quadratic multiple choice problem which we call multiple choice quadratic vertex packing (MCQVP). Results for strategic oscillation and biased candidate sampling strategies are shown for reasonably sized real and randomly generated, synthetic, problem instances. The strategies are compared with other variations using consistent measures of solution time and quality developed for this study.  相似文献
