Sur la thermogravimétrie des précipités analytiques : Dosage du zinc

With the help of the CHEVENARD thermobalance, the authors have traced the pyrolysis curves of the precipitates which serve for the gravimetric determination of zinc. In the table, the temperature limits and the forms in which the precipitates are weighed, are listed. Eight new reagents for the automatic determination of zinc are included in the table.     

Review of inventory systems with deterioration since 2001

This paper presents an up-to-date review of the advances made in the field of inventory control of perishable items (deteriorating inventory). The last extensive review on this topic dates back to 2001 (Goyal S.K. and Giri B.C., Recent trends in modeling of deteriorating inventory, European Journal of Operational Research, 134, 1–16). Since then, over two hundred articles on this subject have been published in the major journals on inventory control, indicating the need for a new review. We use the classification of Goyal and Giri based on shelf life characteristics and demand characteristics. Contributions are highlighted by discussing main system characteristics, including price discounts, backordering or lost sales, single or multiple items, one or two warehouses, single or multi-echelon, average cost or discounted cash flow, and payment delay.     

Etude cristallographique des termes n = 4,5, 5 et 6 des séries (La,Ca)nTinO3n+2, (Nd,Ca)nTinO3n+2 et Can(Ti,Nb)nO3n+2

The homologous phases corresponding to the formula A_nB_nO_3n+2 observed in the systems: La₂Ti₂O₇CaTiO₃, Nd₂Ti₂O₇CaTiO₃ and Ca₂Nb₂O₇CaTiO₃, have a structure derived from the structure of perovskite by periodic crystallographic shears, which delimitate n octahedra thick sheets. In the [0 1 0]1 direction, the sheets are following each other with two types of arrangement.Crystals of terms n = 4,5, 5 and 6 were investigated by X-ray diffraction. According to the type of arrangement of the sheets, the phases studied have either an orthorhombic symmetry or a monoclinic symmetry, this last one giving rise to merohedral twins.

Summary We prove a ?virtual connectedness? theorem for plane curves with nodes, cusps and ordinary triple points. Irreducible curves are so obtained from virtually connected arrangements of lines.

Exploration of the lithium–aluminum–silver system. Crystal and electronic structure analysis of new phases Li6.98Al4.15Ag0.87 and LiAlAg2

The lithium–aluminum–silver ternary system has been investigated and two new phases Li_6.98Al_4.15Ag_0.87 and LiAlAg₂ were characterized using both powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. These phases crystallize in the cubic system, space group (a=6.344(1), 6.3124(5) Å), they, respectively, display the Pearson's cF12- and cF16-type structural arrangements. Compared to Li₂AlAg, the only phase in the system reported so far, the structure of Li_6.98Al_4.15Ag_0.87 is disordered owing to atomic substitutions and contains a full site vacancy. Band structures and densities of states of Li_6.98Al_4.15Ag_0.87, LiAlAg₂ and Li₂AlAg have been calculated by a first principle pseudopotential method using the plane-wave basis CASTEP package.     

Invertibility of the biharmonic single layer potential operator

The 2×2 system of integral equations corresponding to the biharmonic single layer potential in ² is known to be strongly elliptic. It is also known to be positive definite on a space of functions orthogonal to polynomials of degree one. We study the question of its unique solvability without this orthogonality condition. To each curve , we associate a 4×4 matrixB such that this problem for the family of all curves obtained from by scale transformations is equivalent to the eigenvalue problem forB . We present numerical approximations for this eigenvalue problem for several classes of curves.     

Synergistic Interaction of Photodynamic Treatment with the Sensitizer Aluminum Phthalocyanine and Hyperthermia on Loss of Clonogenicity of CHO Cells

Abstract— When CHO cells were exposed to hyperthermia and subsequently to photodynamic treatment, the combined effects were additive but in the reverse sequence the interaction was synergistic. The synergistic interaction comprised two quite different components: (1) photodynam-ically induced sensitization of cellular proteins and/or supramolecular structures for thermal inactivation and (2) a photodynamically induced inhibition of the cellular repair system for sublethal thermal damage. The first component of the synergistic interaction was reflected by a change of the Arrhenius parameters of thermal cell killing. A lowering of the activation energy of this process was responsible for the synergistic interactions, whereas a concomitant decrease of the frequency factor, opposing this effect, actually caused a much lower degree of synergism at higher temperatures. This component of the synergistic interaction did not respond to the insertion of an intermediate incubation period between the two treatments. The second component of the synergistic interaction, viz. the interference with the ability of cells to survive sublethal thermal damage, was reversible, as an intermediate incubation between photodynamic treatment and hyperthermia resulted in its repair. The photodynamically induced inhibition of the ability of cells to survive sublethal thermal damage was not related to ATP or glutathione depletion, inhibition of de novo protein synthesis or impairment of degradation of damaged protein molecules. Restoration of the repair system for sublethal damage depended on a metabolic process and required free intracellular Ca²⁺, suggesting that a cell signaling pathway may be involved. Thus, in a practical sense the magnitude of the synergistic interaction between photodynamic treatment and hyperthermia depends on the length of the interval between the two treatments and on the temperature and duration of the subsequent thermal treatment. This may have significant consequences for the development of clinical protocols.

We have examined in the 3600–100 cm^?1 region the IR and Raman spectra of three bis(trialkylgermyl)amines (R₃Ge)₂NR′ (R = Me, Et; R′ = H, C₆H₅), of three dialkyl(trialkylgermyl)amines R₃GeNR′₂ (R = Me, Et; R′ = Me, n-Bu) and of two triethylgermylpyrazoles:
