Study of coherent diffractive production reactions ofp+C→[Y 0 K +]+C type and observation of narrow structures in ∑ (1385)0 K + and ∑0 K + effective mass spectra

In the experiments at the SPHINX facility in 70 GeV proton beam of the IHEP accelerator the coherent diffractive production reactions on carbon nucleip+C [(1385)⁰ K ⁺+C andp+C[⁰ K ⁺]+C were investigated. The evidences for new baryon states were obtained in the study of hyperon-kaon effective mass spectra in these two reactions:X (2050) with massM=(2052±6) MeV and width =(35 _–35 ⁺²² ) MeV inM[(1385)⁰ K ⁺] andX(2000) withM=1999±6 MeV and =91±17 MeV inM[⁰ K ⁺]. The unusual features of these massive states (small enough decay widths, anomalously large branching ratios for decays with strange particles emission) make them very serious candidates for cryptoexotic pentaquark baryons with hidden strangeness.     

Reaction of substituted spiro[1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene-2,3′-(1′-pyrazolines)] with chlorinating reagents

In reaction of 4′-arylspiro[1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene-2,3′-(1′-pyrazolin)]-1-ones with N-chlorosuccinimide formed spirocyclic substituted 3-chloro-1-pyrazolines that lost nitrogen at heating transforming into spirocyclic chlorocyclopropanes. The reaction of the same pyrazolines with chlorine led to the formation of spirocyclic gem-dichlorocyclopropanes.     

Esters of Substituted 2,3,7-Triazabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-3-ene-4-carboxylic acids and 1,2,7-Triazaspiro[4.4]non-2-ene-3-carboxylic acids in Alkylation and Acylation

Esters of substituted 2,3,7-triazabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-3-ene-4-carboxylic acids react with acetone in the presence of hydrogen chloride (bromide) affording esters of substituted 2-(1,1-dimethyl-3-oxobutyl)-2,3,7-triazabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-3-ene-4-carboxylic acids. Reactions of esters of substituted 2,3,7-triazabicyclo[3.3.0]octa-1(5),3-diene-4-carboxylic acids with 1-adamantanol in trifluoroacetic acid resulted in esters of substituted 2-(1-adamantyl)- 2,3,7-triazabicyclo[3.3.0]octa-1(5),3-diene-4-carboxylic acids.__________Translated from Zhurnal Organicheskoi Khimii, Vol. 41, No. 2, 2005, pp. 252–263.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Stepakov, Molchanov, Kostikov.     

Viscoelastic Properties of Aqueous Anionic Surfactant (Potassium Oleate) Solutions

The dependence of the viscosity of potassium oleate salt-containing solutions on the surfactant concentration is studied. The potassium oleate concentration corresponding to the formation of semidilute solution of cylindrical micelles is determined. It is shown that, in the semidilute regime, one can distinguish two regions characterized by different exponential dependences of the viscosity on the surfactant concentration. The first region corresponds to unbreakable micelle chains that have no time to be destroyed during the characteristic time of reptation, whereas the second region corresponds to “living chains” whose lifetime is shorter than the characteristic time of reptation. In the second region, rheological properties of semidilute potassium oleate solutions are adequately described by the Maxwell model with a single relaxation time.     

Regioselective cycloaddition of C-carbamoylnitrones to methyl (E)-2-(2-phenylcyclopropylidene)acetate and methyl (E)-2-methylidene-3-phenylcyclopropane-1-carboxylate

N-Aryl-C-(arylcarbamoyl)nitrones regioselectively add to methyl 2-(2-phenylcyclopropylidene)-acetate and methyl 2-methylidene-3-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylate to give in each case two diastereoisomeric 5-oxa-6-azaspiro[2.4]heptane-4-carboxylates.     

Plasma-chemical and hydrometallurgical processes for the synthesis of nanostructures from natural crystalline graphite

A flow chart for the extraction of high-purity (99.98%) crystalline graphite by hydrometallurgical methods from the high-carbon rocks of the Ruzhinskaya area was developed. The graphite was used as the starting material for plasma-chemical tests. Nano-sized carbon nanomaterials were isolated upon the experiment. Some of them could be inherited from the natural graphite-bearing rocks. The results of investigation will be used in the development of resource-saving process for extraction of useful components.     

Methyl (E)-2-(2-phenylcyclopropylidene)acetate: Synthesis, isomerization, and reaction with 1,3-diphenyl-2-benzofuran

Treatment of 3-methyl-2-phenylcycloprop-2-ene-1-carboxylic acid with potassium tert-butoxide induced its isomerization into trans-2-methylidene-3-phenylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid which was converted into methyl ester, and heating of the latter for 1 h in toluene gave methyl (E)-2-(2-phenylcyclopropylidene)acetate. Thermal isomerization of methyl (E)-2-(2-phenylcyclopropylidene)acetate on prolonged heating in toluene afforded 5-methoxy-3-methyl-2-phenylfuran, and the reaction with 1,3-diphenyl-2-benzofuran resulted in [4 + 2]-cycloaddition at the exocyclic double bond.
