Brauer Characters of Finite Monoids

We introduce the concept of a Brauer character of a representation of a finite monoid M in characteristic p>0. When p does not divide the order of any subgroup of M, we develop a theory of p-monoid quivers. We apply our results to the full transformation semigroup.     

Stresses in an elastic plate lying over a base due to strip-loading

The closed-form analytic expressions for the stresses at any point of an elastic plate coupling in different ways to a base as a result of a two-dimensional shear strip-loading are obtained. The contact between the horizontal layer and the base is either smooth-rigid or rough-rigid or welded. The variations of the shear stresses with the horizontal distance have been studied numerically. It is found that the effect of different boundary conditions on the stress field is significant and the stresses for an elastic layer lying over an elastic half-space differ considerably from those of an entire homogeneous elastic half-space.     

Structure Elucidation and Synthesis of Flavonol Acylglycosides. III.. The synthesis of tiliroside

Naturally occurring kaempferol 3-O-β-D -(6″-O-coumaroyl)glucopyranoside (tiliroside) has been synthesized thereby confirming its structure. This is the first acylated flavonoid glycoside to be synthesized.     

New modifications in 15 UD pelletron at nuclear science centre

The 15 UD pelletron at NSC has been operational and performed well during the last 11 years. There have been major modifications performed for upgradation of pelletron system over this period. Major upgradations which have been implemented are new resistor network system for voltage gradient, doublet to singlet unit conversion for accelerator units, turbopump based gas stripper system etc. In addition accelerator mass spectroscopy program has also been started. A new multi-cathode source, Wien filter etc. have been procured and will be added soon in the system. An overview of the most significant upgradations undertaken and other activities for the system are being reported in the present paper.     

High intensity coherent transient in multiple quantum wells

In this paper we report Degenerate Four Wave Mixing (DFWM) experiments on the excitons of GaAs/AlGaAs Multiple Quantum Well (MQW) at high incident intensities. These experiments provide a clear manifestation of Many-Body Interactions (MBI) among the excitons, in the form of a multi-photon (intensity-dependant) resonance at the low energy side of the heavy-hole exciton of the first subband of the MQW. The temporal resolution of the DFWM response provides a demonstration of the multi-photon nature of this resonance and, hence, of its MBI origin.
