Iron is a crucial element required for the proper functioning of the body. For instance, hemoglobin is the vital component in the blood that delivers oxygen to various parts of the body. The heme protein present in hemoglobin comprises iron in the form of a ferrous state which regulates oxygen delivery. Excess iron in the body is stored as ferritin and would be utilized under iron-deficient conditions. Surprisingly, cancer cells as well as cancer stem cells have elevated ferritin levels suggesting that iron plays a vital role in protecting these cells. However, apart from the cytoprotective role iron also has the potential to induce cell death via ferroptosis which is a non-apoptotic cell death dependent on iron reserves. Apoptosis a caspase-dependent cell death mechanism is effective on cancer cells however little is known about its impact on cancer stem cell death. This paper focuses on the molecular characteristics of apoptosis and ferroptosis and the importance of switching to ferroptosis to target cancer stem cells death thereby preventing cancer relapse. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first review to demonstrate the importance of intracellular iron in regulating the switching of tumor cells and therapy resistant CSCs from apoptosis to ferroptosis. 相似文献

Nitrogen doped nano porous graphene was used as an efficient sorbent in solid‐phase extraction process for simultaneous separation and pre‐concentration of metal ions lead (II), cadmium(II), and chromium(III)) in biological samples. Ultrasonic assisted in‐syringe dispersive micro solid phase extraction coupled with micro sampling atomic absorption spectrometry was utilized for the determination of metal ions. Nitrogen doped nano porous graphene was synthesized as a nano sorbent by chemical vapour deposition method. Methane and aniline were used as carbon and nitrogen sources. The characterization of sorbent was performed by field emission scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscope, fourier transform infrared, chemical element analysis and raman analysis. Effective parameters on the extraction efficiency such as pH, sorbent dosage, eluent volume and eluent concentration were optimized by central composite design and desirability function. Experimental results indicate that the optimal conditions for this extraction were pH = 6.4, 1.42 mg of sorbent, 100 μL of eluent, and 0.84 mol L‐1 of eluent concentration. The detection limits are as low as 1.5, 0.3 and 0.9 μg L‐1 for lead, cadmium, and chromium, respectively. The intra‐day precisions were 3.6, 4.38 and 2.94 and Inter‐day precision were 4.83, 5.26 and 4.52 for lead, cadmium, and chromium, respectively. Method performance was investigated by determination of mentioned heavy metals in complicated biological matrixes such as human plasma, urine and saliva samples with good recoveries. 相似文献

Treatment of [M2(μ‐Cl)2(cod)2] (M=Ir and Rh) with Na[H2B(bt)2] (cod=1,5‐cyclooctadiene and bt=2‐mercaptobenzothiazolyl) at low temperature led to the formation of dimetallaheterocycles [(Mcod)2(bt)2], 1 and 2 ( 1 : M=Ir and 2 : M=Rh) and a borate complex [Rh(cod){κ2‐S,S′‐H2B(bt)2}], 3 . Compounds 1 and 2 are structurally characterized metal analogues of 1,5‐cyclooctadiene. Metal–metal bond distances of 3.6195(9) Å in 1 and 3.6749(9) Å in 2 are too long to consider as bonding. In an attempt to generate the Ru analogue of 1 and 2 , that is [(Rucod)2(bt)2], we have carried out the reaction of [Ru(Cl)2(cod)(CH3CN)2] with Na[H2B(bt)2]. Interestingly, the reaction yielded agostic complexes [Ru(cod)L{κ3‐H,S,S′‐H2B(bt)2}], 4 and 5 ( 4 : L=Cl; 5 : L=C7H4NS2). One of the key differences between 4 and 5 is the presence of different ancillary ligands at the metal center. The natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis of 1 and 2 shows that there is four lone pairs of electrons on each metal center with a significant amount of d character. Furthermore, the electronic structures and the bonding of these complexes have been established on the ground of quantum‐chemical calculations. All of the new compounds were characterized by IR, 1H, 11B, 13C NMR spectroscopy, and X‐ray crystallographic analysis. 相似文献

The shift of the Q-band of sodium zinc(II)-2,9,16,23-phthalocyanine tetracarboxylate (ZnPc(COONa)4) to about 800 nm is attributed to the influence of the electron-donating property of the carboxylate groups substituted in the β–position. ZnPc(COONa)4 which was found to have a symmetry of D 2h characterized by a splitting of the Q transition. This splitting was interpreted by the formation of dianionic symmetric ZnPc(COONa)4 resulting from the dissociation of the pyrrole protons as well as the possibility of Na+ dissolution of ZnPc(COONa)4 in the aqueous solution of NaOH. 相似文献

A simple, inexpensive, environmentally friendly and efficient route for Michael addition of indoles to α,β-unsaturated ketones using pentafluorophenylammonium triflate (PFPAT) as a catalyst is described.
