Biosorption of thorium(IV) from aqueous solution by Cystoseira indica alga was investigated in batch and fixed-bed column experiments. In the batch study the effects of pH and initial concentration were investigated. The optimum pH for Th(IV) biosorption was found to be 3.5. The experimental isotherms obtained at different pH conditions were analyzed using three two-parameter models and three three-parameter models. Among the two-parameter models the Langmuir model and among the three-parameter models the Redlich–Peterson model vividly described the equilibrium data. The results showed that C. indica alga is a homogeneous biosorbent and Th(IV) biosorption is a favorable and physical process. The maximum biosorption capacity from the Langmuir model was 151.3, 195.7 and 120.6 mg/g at pH 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5, respectively. The continuous isotherm obtained from the column data was modeled by the Langmuir model and the maximum biosorption capacity was 283.8 mg/g. The experimental data were fitted by the use of an analytical and a numerical model, namely Clark and mass transfer models. The results showed that the mass transfer model adequately described the experimental data. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the value of kin has more effect than the axial dispersion coefficient (Dz) on the shape of breakthrough curve. 相似文献
In this work, a polypyrrole/multiwalled carbon nanotubes composite decorated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles was chemically synthesized and applied as a novel adsorbent for the extraction of methocarbamol from human plasma. Electrospray ionization ion mobility spectrometry was used for the determination of the analyte. The properties of the magnetic‐modified adsorbent were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, and X‐ray diffraction. The effects of experimental parameters on the extraction efficiency of the sorbent were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, the linear dynamic range was found to be 2–150 ng/mL with the detection limit of 0.9 ng/mL. The relative standard deviation was 5.3% for three replicate measurements of methocarbamol in plasma sample. The extraction efficiency of the sorbent for the determination of different drugs with various polarities was also compared to that of Fe3O4‐polypyrrole and Fe3O4‐multiwalled carbon nanotubes sorbents. Finally, the method was used for the determination of methocarbamol in blood samples. 相似文献
The gas–liquid partitioning behavior of major odorants (acetic acid, propionic acid, isobutyric acid, n-butyric acid, i-valeric acid, n-valeric acid, hexanoic acid, phenol, p-cresol, indole, skatole, and toluene (as a reference)) commonly found in microbially digested wastewaters was investigated by two experimental approaches. Firstly, a simple vaporization method was applied to measure the target odorants dissolved in liquid samples with the aid of sorbent tube/thermal desorption/gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. As an alternative method, an impinger-based dynamic headspace sampling method was also explored to measure the partitioning of target odorants between the gas and liquid phases with the same detection system. The relative extraction efficiency (in percent) of the odorants by dynamic headspace sampling was estimated against the calibration results derived by the vaporization method. Finally, the concentrations of the major odorants in real digested wastewater samples were also analyzed using both analytical approaches. Through a parallel application of the two experimental methods, we intended to develop an experimental approach to be able to assess the liquid-to-gas phase partitioning behavior of major odorants in a complex wastewater system. The relative sensitivity of the two methods expressed in terms of response factor ratios (RFvap/RFimp) of liquid standard calibration between vaporization and impinger-based calibrations varied widely from 981 (skatole) to 6,022 (acetic acid). Comparison of this relative sensitivity thus highlights the rather low extraction efficiency of the highly soluble and more acidic odorants from wastewater samples in dynamic headspace sampling. 相似文献
Formation of the complex of ethyl viologen in its cationic (Ev+?) and neutral (Ev°) forms with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was investigated by means of voltammetric technique in buffer solution of pH 7.00. The number of βCD (n or m) per viologen species (Ev+?) or (Ev°), bonding equilibrium constants as well as bonding rate constants was calculated. The calculated values of $K_{\text{eq}}^{(1)}$ and $K_{\text{eq}}^{ ( 2)}$ (pertaining to the bonding of Ev+? and Ev° with βCD) are 13.6 M–n and 2.1 × 103 M?m, respectively, whereas the calculated values of n and m are 0.54 and 1.25, respectively. The bimolecular rate constant for the Ev°?βCD inclusion complex formation is 3.03 × 103 M?1s?1. These results are supported by the simulation of the experimental cyclic voltammograms. This study also highlights the significance of the proposed electrochemical method as compared to earlier studies on viologen-Cyclodextrin systems. 相似文献
Reaction of symmetrical and unsymmetrical (thio)barbituric acids with aldehydes in the presence of triethylamine afforded a new form of bis-(thio)barbiturate containing charge-separated inter- and eight-membered intramolecular H-bonds. The reaction products were obtained as bis-(thio)barbiturates containing eight-membered intramolecular H-bond in the presence of l-(+)-tartaric acid (TA). The intramolecular H-bond strength (kcal/mol) and corresponding pKa value for 4ab′ were estimated to be 37 kcal/mol and ?1.3, respectively. 相似文献
In this work, electrophoresis was successfully used to separate three different polymer-coated magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles with similar sizes (nominally 50 nm) using high-pH borate buffer system. The coating polymers were dextran, polyethylene glycol, or carboxymethyl dextran. The results showed that the migration time of carboxymethyl dextran coated nanoparticles is the longest due to relatively more negative surface charges. Investigation of the effects of buffer concentration, pH, electric field strength and the capillary temperature, on electrophoretic properties of samples was also carried out. The results showed that pH, electric field strength and the capillary temperature had indirect relations with both of the migration time and the separation resolution of three different polymer-coated nanoparticles while the buffer concentration had a direct relation. 相似文献
Copolymers of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and dopamine methacrylate can establish a reversible, self‐healing 3D network in aprotic solvents based on hydrogen bonding. The reactivity and hydrogen bonding formation of catechol groups in copolymer chains are studied by UV–vis and 1H NMR spectroscopy, while reversibility from sol to gel and inverse as well as self‐healing properties are tested rheologically. The produced reversible organogel can self‐encapsulate physically interacting or chemically bonded solutes such as drugs due to thermosensitivity of the used copolymer. This system offers dual‐targeted and controlled drug delivery and release—by slowing down release kinetics by supramolecular bonding of the drug and by reducing diffusion rates due to modulus increase.
Human Mammary Tumor Virus (HMTV) or Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus holds similarity as an endogenous onco-retrovirus belongs to retroviridae family, predominantly infects the epithelial cell of human as well as mouse. With the recognition of nano-biosensor in nanotechnology, ideal interdigitated electrode (IDE) was genuinely performed for HMTV detection. Aluminium enriched IDE (AlIDE) was fabricated for high performance detection with a cost-effective photolithography technique. In this research, (3-glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane refined platform was selected to detect the conductivity with HMTV target DNA interaction on the designed AlIDE. Strong binding affinity of streptavidin-biotin with target DNA enhanced the sensitivity by empowering higher number of HMTV probe and target complementation on sensing surface. Furthermore, the target DNA was immobilized on probe modified AlIDE and a quantitative value of 100 aM attained as a lowest detection. A linear with dose-dependent duplex formation was shown with the regression coefficient value of 0.964. Negative control has shown insignificant detection at 10 pM, which justifies the higher fold discrimination with specificity. The excellence of AlIDE performance in detection of HMTV may pave the way for more verification on other diseases. 相似文献
The catalytic activity of an oxidovanadium(IV) unsymmetrical Schiff base complex supported on γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles, γ-Fe2O3@[VO(salenac-OH)] in which salenac-OH?=?[9-(2′,4′-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,8-diaza-4-methylnona-2,4,8-trienato](-2), was explored in the oxidation of hydrocarbons with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP, 70% aqueous solution) as oxidant. High catalytic activity and selectivity were demonstrated by this magnetic nanocatalyst in alkane hydroxylation and alkene epoxidation, and the corresponding products were obtained with good to excellent yields in acetonitrile at 50 °C. Reasonable catalytic activity was presented by this supported catalyst in the epoxidation of linear alkenes under optimal reaction conditions. In addition, alkylbenzene derivatives and cycloalkanes can be oxidized to their corresponding alcohols and ketones with good yields in this catalytic system. It is possible to magnetically separate the γ-Fe2O3@[VO(salenac-OH)] catalyst and reuse it four times without losing the activity significantly. Moreover, the catalyst structure and morphology do not change after recovery, as indicated by comparing scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS) of the recovered catalyst with those of the fresh catalyst.
