The UV wavelength region is of great interest in absorption spectroscopy, which is employed for chemical analysis, since many organic compounds absorb in only this region. Germanium-doped silica, which is often preferred as the waveguide core material in optical devices for telecommunication, cannot accommodate guidance below 400 nm, owing to the presence of UV-absorbing centers. We show that silicon oxynitride (SiO(x) N(y)) waveguides exhibit very good UV performance. The propagation loss for 24-microm -wide SiO(x)N (y) waveguides was found to be ~1.0dB/cm in the wavelength range 220-550 nm. The applicability of these waveguides was demonstrated in a biochemical microsystem consisting of multimode buried-channel SiO(x)N (y) waveguides that were monolithically integrated with microfluidic channels. Absorption measurements of a beta -blocking agent, propranolol, at 212-215 nm were performed. The detection limit was reached at a concentration of 13microM , with an optical path length of 500microm (signal/noise ratio, 2). 相似文献

Nonionic surfactants e.g. alcohol ethoxylates (AEOs) and alkylamine ethoxylates (ANEOs) are commonly utilised as adjuvants in pesticide formulations to enhance their effectiveness. In this study, analytical methods for AEO and ANEO determination in soil samples using pressurised liquid extraction (PLE) were developed and used in connection with LC–MS. The recovery of the method, which was highly dependent on the soil properties, varied in the range 47–106% for AEO and 27–109% for ANEO. Detection limits (LOD) were 7–13 µg kg–1 for AEO and 24–43 µg kg–1 for ANEO. The developed method has been applied to determine AEOs and ANEOs in surface soil samples from fields sprayed with glyphosate herbicides. Tallowalkylamine ethoxylates (an ANEO) were detected in the soil before and after pesticide application, with increasing concentrations after treatment. The highest concentration in the soil samples was observed for the ANEO homologues with the longest ethoxy chains; in the clay soil the concentration decreased with the length of the ethoxy chain. Pyrazole, a member of the structural class of azoles, exhibits molecular properties of interest in pharmaceuticals and materials chemistry, owing to the two adjacent nitrogen atoms in the five-membered ring system. The weakly basic nitrogen atoms of deprotonated pyrazoles have been applied in coordination chemistry, particularly to access coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks, and homocoupling reactions can in principle provide facile access to bipyrazole ligands. In this context, we summarize recent advances in homocoupling reactions of pyrazoles and other types of azoles (imidazoles, triazoles and tetrazoles) to highlight the utility of homocoupling reactions in synthesizing symmetric bi-heteroaryl systems compared with traditional synthesis. X‐ray/neutron (X/N) diffraction data measured at very low temperature (15 K) in conjunction with ab initio theoretical calculations were used to model the crystal charge density (CD) of the host–guest complex of hydroquinone (HQ) and acetonitrile. Due to pseudosymmetry, information about the ordering of the acetonitrile molecules within the HQ cavities is present only in almost extinct, very weak diffraction data, which cannot be measured with sufficient accuracy even by using the brightest X‐ray and neutron sources available, and the CD model of the guest molecule was ultimately based on theoretical calculations. On the other hand, the CD of the HQ host structure is well determined by the experimental data. The neutron diffraction data provide hydrogen anisotropic thermal parameters and positions, which are important to obtain a reliable CD for this light‐atom‐only crystal. Atomic displacement parameters obtained independently from the X‐ray and neutron diffraction data show excellent agreement with a |ΔU| value of 0.00058 Å2 indicating outstanding data quality. The CD and especially the derived electrostatic properties clearly reveal increased polarization of the HQ molecules in the host–guest complex compared with the HQ molecules in the empty HQ apohost crystal structure. It was found that the origin of the increased polarization is inclusion of the acetonitrile molecule, whereas the change in geometry of the HQ host structure following inclusion of the guest has very little effect on the electrostatic potential. The fact that guest inclusion has a profound effect on the electrostatic potential suggests that nonpolarizable force fields may be unsuitable for molecular dynamics simulations of host–guest interaction (e.g., in protein–drug complexes), at least for polar molecules. 相似文献

Here we present a method for simultaneous determination of the fungal metabolites mycophenolic acid, ochratoxin A (OTA) and fumonisin B2 (FB2) in meat products. Extraction was performed with water–acetonitrile, followed by acetone-induced precipitation of salts and proteins. Purification and identification of analytes was performed by mixed-mode reversed-phase anion-exchange chromatography in direct ion-exchange mode, followed by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) detection. Quantification was based on isotope dilution with fully 13C-labelled FB2 and OTA, and matrix-spiked calibration curves. Fermented sausages inoculated with an OTA- and FB2-producing strain of Aspergillus niger were analysed, but no analytes were detected. Analysis of 22 retail products showed one Parma meat with a very high level of OTA contamination (56–158 μg/kg) that clearly exceeded the Italian regulatory limit of 1 μg/kg. This sample and uninfected control samples were subsequently reanalysed, and the high OTA content was verified by two other techniques: (i) LC–time-of-flight MS confirmed the accurate mass as well as chlorine isotope pattern; and (ii) sample methylation in methanol–BF3 and subsequent LC-MS/MS provided indirect confirmation by detection of the OTA methyl ester. In the contaminated Parma ham, the high OTA level most likely originated from growth of Penicillium nordicum on the meat. 相似文献

The objective of this article is to provide an overview and critical evaluation of the use of carbon nanotubes and related carbon-based nanomaterials for microchip chromatography. The unique properties of carbon nanotubes, such as a very high surface area and intriguing adsorptive behaviour, have already been demonstrated in more classical formats, for improved separation performance in gas and liquid chromatography, and for unique applications in solid phase extraction. Carbon nanotubes are now also entering the field of microfluidics, where there is a large potential to be able to provide integrated, tailor-made nanotube columns by means of catalytic growth of the nanotubes inside the fluidic channels. An evaluation of the different implementations of carbon nanotubes and related carbon-based nanomaterials for microfluidic chromatography devices is given in terms of separation performance and ease of fabrication. 相似文献

The formation and growth mechanisms in the hydrothermal synthesis of SnO(2) nanoparticles from aqueous solutions of SnCl(4)·5H(2)O have been elucidated by means of in situ X-ray total scattering (PDF) measurements. The analysis of the data reveals that when the tin(IV) chloride precursor is dissolved, chloride ions and water coordinate octahedrally to tin(IV), forming aquachlorotin(IV) complexes of the form [SnCl(x)(H(2)O)(6-x)]((4-x)+) as well as hexaaquatin(IV) complexes [Sn(H(2)O)(6-y)(OH)(y)]((4-y)+). Upon heating, ellipsoidal SnO(2) nanoparticles are formed uniquely from hexaaquatin(IV). The nanoparticle size and morphology (aspect ratio) are dependent on both the reaction temperature and the precursor concentration, and particles as small as ~2 nm can be synthesized. Analysis of the growth curves shows that Ostwald ripening only takes place above 200 °C, and in general the growth is limited by diffusion of precursor species to the growing particle. The c-parameter in the tetragonal lattice is observed to expand up to 0.5% for particle sizes down to 2-3 nm as compared to the bulk value. SnO(2) nanoparticles below 3-4 nm do not form in the bulk rutile structure, but as an orthorhombic structural modification, which previously has only been reported at pressures above 5 GPa. Thus, adjustment of the synthesis temperature and precursor concentration not only allows control over nanoparticle size and morphology but also the structure. 相似文献

The reduction of 2-chloro-N-phenylpropanamide with LiAlH(4) has been re-examined. In contrast to previous findings, we obtain in almost equal quantities two amines from this reaction, namely N-propylaniline and the rearranged product N-isopropylaniline. 2-Methyl-N-phenylaziridine is an intermediate in the reduction and can be isolated from reactions with less LiAlH(4). Reduction of 2-methyl-N-phenylaziridine itself proceeds non-regioselectively to provide a mixture of propyl- and isopropylanilines. Formation of the amines by reduction of the aziridine is much slower than formation by reduction of the 2-chloropropanamide, which indicates that Lewis acid catalysis (by aluminium chlorohydrides) facilitates the reduction of the aziridine. In addition, Lewis acid catalysis increases the relative yield of the propylamine product. The reduction of 2-chloro-N-phenylpropanamide furnishes 2-phenylamino-1-propanol as a by-product, rather than the previously proposed 1-phenylamino-2-propanol. 相似文献
