We present molecular simulation data for viscosity, self-diffusivity, and the local structural ordering of (i) a hard-sphere fluid and (ii) a square-well fluid with short-range attractions. The latter fluid exhibits a region of dynamic anomalies in its phase diagram, where its mobility increases upon isochoric cooling, which is found to be a subset of a larger region of structural anomalies, in which its pair correlations strengthen upon isochoric heating. This "cascade of anomalies" qualitatively resembles that found in recent simulations of liquid water. The results for the hard-sphere and square-well systems also show that the breakdown of the Stokes-Einstein relation upon supercooling occurs for conditions where viscosity and self-diffusivity develop different couplings to the degree of pairwise structural ordering of the liquid. We discuss how these couplings reflect dynamic heterogeneities. Finally, we note that the simulation data suggest how repulsive and attractive glasses may generally be characterized by two distinct levels of short-range structural order. 相似文献

The radiation-chemical reduction of Tl+, Co2+ and Ni2+ ions in water-in-oil microemulsion has been described. Rate constants for the reduction of the metal ions by e- aq were found to be much lower compared to those in aqueous solution. The absorption spectrum and the rate constants of formation of the transient intermediates of metal clusters were correlated with the water-pool size, surrounding environment and compared with data in aqueous solution. Tl2 + reacts with Cd2+ with k = 1.1 × 108 M-1 s-1. Reactions of Tl2 + and Co+ with Ag+ leads to the formation of Ag metal particles. No reaction was observed from Cd+ to Tl+ or Co2+. The results are discussed in terms of dynamic exchange of materials between the polar cores of microemulsion. This exchange facilitates formation of silver particles. 相似文献

The low-temperature flexibility of polyethylene (PE)–chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) blends and their composites with a small amount of graphene oxide filler was studied. Quantitative height variation in the AFM images, rheological as well as fracture analyses were employed to gain insights into the generation of flexibility in the matrix phase. The semi-crystalline CPE (CPE25) polymer did not induce viscoelastic behavior at temperatures lower than the glass transition temperature of PE, whereas the amorphous CPE (CPE35) had completely different behavior. The samples with CPE35 could not be sufficiently hardened even at ?180 °C and remained too soft for cryosectioning. Therefore, compression, which results in a 30–60 % reduction in length along the cutting direction with no change in the dimension perpendicular to it, was very prominent for both thin section and block face of the sample. The composites had even higher degree of compression due to additional effect of weak filler matrix interactions and as a consequence, the topographical variations led to filler pull out during sectioning. It was also confirmed using the rheological analysis that composites (and blends with 10 % CPE35 content) had phase immiscibility as CPE phase was suspected to concentrate near the graphene oxide phase leading to generation of chlorine-rich phases. The addition of graphene oxide did not lead to reduced flexibility and the composites also retained the modulus similar to pure polymer. The mechanical fracture of the samples also confirmed the flexibility of the CPE containing blends and composites as these samples were still flexible at ?195 °C. 相似文献

This paper presents a study on the line-width and wavelength stability of a single mode narrow line-width (≈ 100 MHz) dye laser pumped by a copper vapour laser, with and without precision temperature control of dye solution. The single mode dye laser system was based on a specially designed SS metal dye cell and grazing incidence grating (GIG) dye resonator with intra-cavity double prism beam expander and etalon. A high precision wavelength-meter was used to record the line-width and frequency stability data. With the coarse dye solution temperature control of 23 ± 2 °C, dye laser line-width varied in a periodic fashion (in every 30 s) between 100 and 770 MHz. Frequency stability was ± 215 MHz (1 min). This is attributed to switching from single to double mode due to temperature induced cavity length change. For the precise dye solution control of 23 ± 0.1 °C, the periodic variation of the line-width was removed completely and the line-width was always ≤ 100 MHz. The frequency stability also improved to ± 42 MHz (1 min). It is established that the dye temperature control is very crucial for achieving, highly frequency stable single axial mode operation. 相似文献
