The radially polarized mode is achieved from an active Yb fiber by utilizing of an intracavity converging axicon, where the axicon acts as a TM(01) mode selector based on not only its Brewster convex surface but also the distance between its vertex and plane output coupler. The polarization state of the annular laser beam is checked by using a home-made eight-hole aperture. Furthermore, an uncoated plane glass plate is inserted into the cavity, and the reflected beam points to the existence of an annular lasing mode inside the gain fiber. The issues for developing high-power radially polarized fiber lasers also are considered.  相似文献

A series of polystyrenes with phosphonic acid ( 5 ) via long alkyl side chains (4, 6, and 8 methylene units) were prepared by the radical polymerization of the corresponding diethyl ω‐(4‐vinylphenoxy)alkylphosphonates, followed by the hydrolysis with trimethylsilyl bromide. The resulting phosphonated polystyrene membranes had a high oxidative stability against Fenton's reagent at room temperature. The membranes prepared from 5 exhibited a very low water uptake, similar to that of Nafion 117 over the wide range of 30 to 80% relative humidity (RH). The proton conductivities of these membranes are lower than that of Nafion 117 in the range of 30 to 90% RH, but comparable or higher than those of the reported phosphonated polymers with higher IEC values, such as the phosphonated poly(N‐phenylacrylamide) (PDPAA, IEC: 6.72 mequiv/g) and fluorinated polymers with pendant phosphonic acids (M47, IEC: 8.5 mequiv/g), at low RH conditions despite the much lower IEC values (3.0–3.8 mequiv/g) of these membranes. These results suggest that the flexible pendant side chains of 5 would contribute to the formation of hydrogen‐bonding networks by considering the very low water uptake of these polymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Electronic states of P donors in Si nanocrystals (nc-Si) embedded in insulating glass matrices have been studied by electron spin resonance. Doping of P donors into nc-Si was demonstrated by the observation of optical absorption in the infrared region due to intraconduction band transitions. P hyperfine structure (hfs) was successfully observed at low temperatures. The observed splitting of the hfs was found to be much larger than that of the bulk Si:P and depended strongly on the size of nc-Si. The observed strong size dependence indicates that the enhancement of the hyperfine splitting is caused by the quantum confinement of P donors in nc-Si.  相似文献

In order to clarify the origin of a strong peak effect in the magnetization curve of NdBa2Cu3O7−δ crystals, we investigated the superconductivity transition behavior of the in-plane resistivity in static magnetic fields up to 8 T. Comparing the results for the samples exhibiting and not exhibiting the peak effect, we found that the former (peak effect sample) shows lower resistivity above the vortex melting temperature. This implies that the pinning force is effective in the vortex liquid state. We also found that the normal state resistivity behaviors of some samples were unusual, indicating inhomogeneous current flow. These results suggest an existence of sheet-like pinning centers perpendicular to the conduction planes.  相似文献

Under steady shear flow, the normal stress and the shear stress in both dilute and concentrated solutions of monodisperse poly-α-methylstyrenes and their blends were measured. It was confirmed that the molecular theories of Rouse and Zimm extended to concentrated solutions can explain the relation between the zero-shear normal stress coefficient and the zero-shear steady-flow viscosity for both monodisperse and polydisperse systems. Shear-rate dependence of steady-flow viscosity can be understood fairly well by the molecular entanglement concept proposed by Graessley so long as the polymer is monodisperse or the amount of the higher molecular weight component is high. However, zero-shear viscosity of blended systems cannot be explained quantitatively by the theory of Graessley. The shear-rate dependence of steady-state compliance of blended systems was also observed, and it can well be explained by the theory of Tanaka, Yamamoto, and Takano which interpreted the shear rate-dependent steady-state compliance in terms of the relaxation time spectrum and its variation with shear rate.  相似文献
