We conducted experiments to determine isotope changes in the deposit-feeding chironomid larvae Chironomus acerbiphilus during feeding, starvation and metamorphosis. Isotope changes in chironomid larvae occurred mainly during growth and rarely afterward. This finding indicates that chironomid isotope turnover mainly occurs in conjunction with growth and suggests that chironomid larvae only break down newly assimilated food for energy during periods of no growth. Chironomid delta(13)C values significantly increased throughout the starvation experiment, indicating that chironomids preferentially break down components with lower delta(13)C content during starvation. We found significant changes in chironomid isotope ratios ((15)N enrichment) during pupation. This evidence suggests that the physiological condition of animals (such as during an active growth phase or pre- or post-molting) is important to their stable isotope ratios.  相似文献

Gambir, the aqueous extract from Uncaria gambir (Rubiaceae), has been used as an astringent medicine in Asian countries. Investigation of the constituents in the extract led to the isolation of four chalcane-flavan dimers, gambiriin A1 (6), A2 (7), B1 (8), and B2 (9), in addition to (+)-catechin (1), (+)-epicatechin (2), and dimeric proanthocyanidins, procyanidin B1 (3), procyanidin B3 (4), and gambiriin C (5). The spectroscopic and chemical data obtained in the present study indicated that their previously proposed structures 6a, 7a, 8a, and 9a should be revised to 6, 7, 8, and 9, respectively.  相似文献

The synthesis of a spiro[4.4]nonane skeleton by the palladium-catalyzed domino cyclization of a linear 7-methylene-2,10-undecadienyl acetate is described. The pi-allylpalladium intermediate underwent intramolecular alkene insertion with high intraannular diastereoselectivity, followed by intramolecular Heck-type cyclization, leading to a spiro[4.4]nonane system. Oxidation of the allylic ether moiety and transformation of the vinyl group to an exo-methylene unit provided 3, which is the known synthetic intermediate of dimethyl gloiosiphone A (2).  相似文献

The geometric characteristics of nanogel particles in aqueous solutions were studied by determining their ratios of radius of gyration (mean-square radius; Rg) to hydrodynamic radius (Rh), Rg/Rh, derived from static light scattering and dynamic light scattering experiments, respectively. The various nanogel samples studied included ones composed of lightly cross-linked N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPA) polymer, NIPA-based anionic or cationic copolymers, and amphoteric terpolymers. Polyelectrolyte complexes between anionic or cationic nanogels and oppositely charged polyions or nanogels having opposite charges were also studied. Most NIPA and NIPA-based polyelectrolyte nanogels in a swollen state had Rg/Rh values >0.775, which is the theoretically predicted value for a solid sphere. In a collapsed state, one may expect nanogel particles to be spherical in shape; however, this was not the case for a variety of nanogel samples, either with or without charges. These data were consistent with the idea that the surfaces of these nanogel particles were decorated with attached dangling chains. The Rg/Rh data from polyelectrolyte-nanogel complexes, however, indicated different structures from this. It was found that most of the polyelectrolyte-nanogel complex particles had Rg/Rh approximately 0.775. This suggested that the complexed nanogel particles were spherical in shape and that there were no dangling surface chains.  相似文献

Stretched silver island multilayers have been investigated for patterned optical polarizers for the wavelength of 800 nm. Submicrometer-thick optical polarizing films are fabricated by stretching periodic multilayers consisting of silver island layers and Pyrex layers at the temperature of 660°C. As the optical anisotropy of the optical polarizing film is lost by heating at a temperature higher than the stretching temperature, the fine non-polarizing areas can be deliberately and easily formed on the optical polarizing film by laser irradiation with high power density. We have successfully formed various non-polarizing areas on the optical polarizing film with a 1 W-class carbon dioxide laser. The demonstrated fabricating techniques of deliberately patterned optical polarizing films should be useful for novel optical computing and sensing devices.  相似文献

Summary: Novel biodegradable copolymers derived from succinate, butan‐1,4‐diol, and butan‐1,4‐diamine were synthesized by two‐step polycondensation reactions. The obtained copolymers had a periodical‐sequence structure consisting of ester and amide units, and the melting temperatures of the periodic copolymers increased with an increase in amide content. The crystalline structure of the periodic copolymers differs from that of butylene succinate homopolymer (PBS), and these results suggest that the periodically introduced amide units are included in the crystalline phase forming a novel crystalline structure.

A new method is proposed for fabricating polymer-coated silver hollow glass fibers to avoid the flexibility deterioration after the curing process. Transmission properties of fibers made by the two procedures with and without curing process are compared. Little difference was observed in the transmission properties at the wavelength 2.94 μm of Er:YAG laser light and 10.6 μm of CO2 laser light. The polymer layer is shown to be stable after 2-h, 5-W, continuous wave CO2 laser light transmission.  相似文献

The development of a millimeter and submillimeter wave catheter for irradiation on living bodies using a gyrotron as the radiation power source is described. The GYROTRON FU-IV, optimized for such applications was used in the development. It was operated in both CW and pulsed regime at TE03 and TE32 modes with frequencies 302 GHz and 238 GHz respectively. Irradiation tests were made on thermal papers, beefs and liver of living rats.  相似文献

The radical copolymerization of N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)maleimide (DMPhMI) and 2,4,4-trimethylpentene (TP) was investigated in several solvents at 60°C. The copolymerization rate and the molecular weight of the resulting copolymers were dependent on the kind of solvent used. It was also revealed that the monomer reactivity ratios depended on the solvent; r1 = 0.086 and r2 = 0 in chloroform and r1 = 0.25 and r2 = 0 in benzene, where DMPhMI and TP are M1 and M2, respectively. The propagation rate constants were determined for the homopolymerization and copolymerization in chloroform and benzene using electron spin resonance spectroscopy. The homo- and crosspropagation rate constants (k11 and k12, respectively) were revealed to depend on the solvent: k11 is 20 and 37 L/mol·s and k12 is 230 and 150 L/mol·s in chloroform and in benzene, respectively. The interaction between the maleimide moiety and the solvent molecules was discussed based on the acceptivity of the solvents. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. OCTA (Open Computational Tool for Advanced material technology) is an integrated simulation system for polymeric materials developed by a joint project of industry and academia supported by Japanese government. It aims at exploring the utility of mesoscale modelings developed in polymer science. OCTA consists of four simulation engines (molecular dynamics engine, rheology engine, interface engine, multi-phase engine) and a simulation platform.
