The room-temperature reactions of nitric oxide with 46 atomic cations have been surveyed systematically across and down the periodic table using an inductively-coupled plasma/selected-ion flow tube (ICP/SIFT) tandem mass spectrometer. Rate coefficients and product distributions were measured for the reactions of first-row cations from K+ to Se+, of second-row cations from Rb+ to Te+ (excluding Tc+), and of third-row cations from Cs+ to Bi+. Reactions both first and second order in NO were identified. The observed bimolecular reactions were thermodynamically controlled. Efficient exothermic electron transfer was observed with Zn+, As+, Se+, Au+, and Hg+. Bimolecular O-atom transfer was observed with Sc+, Ti+, Y+, Zr+, Nb+, La+, Hf+, Ta+, and W+. Of the remaining 32 atomic ions, all but 8 react in novel termolecular reactions second order in NO to produce NO+ and the metal-nitrosyl molecule, the metal-monoxide cation and nitrous oxide, and/or the metal-nitrosyl cation. K+, Rb+, Cs+, Ga+, In+, Tl+, Pb+, and Bi+ are totally unreactive. Further reactions with NO produce the dioxide cations CaO2+, TiO2+, VO2+, CrO2+, SrO2+, ZrO2+, NbO2+, RuO2+, BaO2+, HfO2+, TaO2+, WO2+, ReO2+, and OsO2+ and the still higher order oxides WO3+, ReO3+, and ReO4+. NO ligation was observed in the formation of CaO+(NO), ScO+(NO), TiO+(NO), VO+(NO)(1-3), VO2+(NO)(1-3), SrO+(NO), SrO2+(NO)1,2, RuO+(NO)(1-3), RuO2+(NO)1,2, OsO+(NO)(1-3), and IrO+(NO). The reported reactivities for bare atomic ions provide a benchmark for reactivities of ligated atomic ions and point to possible second-order NO chemistry in biometallic and metal-surface environments leading to the conversion of NO to N2O and the production of metal-nitrosyl molecules.  相似文献

Based on a standard constant-pressure Monte Carlo molecular simulation, we have studied liquid crystal phases of binary mixtures of nonspherical molecules. The components of the mixtures are two types of hard Gaussian overlap (HGO) molecules. The first type of molecule has a small molecularelongation parameter (short HGO molecules) and cannot form stable liquid crystal phase in the bulk by themselves. The second type of molecule has a large elongation parameter (long HGO molecules) and can form a liquid crystal phase easily. In the mixtures, the short HGO molecules can form an orientationally ordered phase because the long HGO molecules form confining surfaces to induce the alignment of the short molecules. We also study the isotropic-nematic phase transition in different mixtures composed of short and long HGO molecules with different elongations and concentrations. The obtained result implies that small anisotropic molecules can show liquid crystal behavior.  相似文献

We study the general energy and shape of the two-dimensional solid monolayer domains with the dipole-dipole interactions. Compared with the domain energy without tilted dipole moments [M. Iwamoto and Z. C. Ou-Yang, Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 206101 (2004)], the general dipolar energy is not only shape and size but also boundary orientation dependent. The general shape equation derived by this energy using variational approach predicts a circular solution and an equilibrium shape grown from this circle. In particular, the latter is composed of two branches: a translation-induced growth of all odd harmonic modes and a pressure-induced cooperative deformation by all even harmonic modes. The good qualitative agreement between our prediction and the experimental observations shows the validity of the present theory.  相似文献

Electrostatic phenomena occurring at the interface between metal/organic and organic/organic materials are discussed from the viewpoint of dielectrics physics. Focusing on two important origins of surface polarization phenomena, orientational ordering of polar molecules and displacement of excess charges at the interface, surface polarization phenomena of organic thin films are discussed. To define the orientational order of polar molecules, orientational order parameters are introduced, and surface polarization due to the alignment of dipoles is expressed. The generation of Maxwell displacement current (MDC) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) that are specific for surface organic monomolecular films are discussed, and some experimental evidence are shown. As an extension of the concept of surface Fermi level introduced to discuss the electrostatic phenomena due to electron transfer at the interface between metal-organic insulators, the surface Fermi level is extended to the discussion on the electrostatic phenomena of organic semiconductor materials on metals. In this paper, some experimental evidence of surface polarization originating from polar molecules and displacement of excess charges are shown. After that, with consideration of these surface phenomena, single electron tunneling of organic films are briefly discussed in association with surface polarization phenomena.  相似文献

We have investigated how the dynamics of surfactant molecules changes with the vesicle-micelle transition by (1)H NMR relaxation studies on the sodium decyl sulfate (SDeS)-decyltrimethylammonium bromide (DeTAB)-deuterium oxide system. The study has been planned with reference to the phase diagram of the SDeS-DeTAB-water system deduced from thermodynamic analysis of the surface tension data. The spin-lattice relaxation time (T(1)) and the spin-spin relaxation time (T(2)) are measured at 90 and 400 MHz at various total molalities, m, and compositions, X(2), of the surfactants. The data were analyzed according to the "two-step" model developed by Wennerstr?m et al. and molecular dynamics of the surfactant is discussed from the viewpoint of correlation time tau(f) associated with the local fast motion of the surfactant molecule, correlation time tau(s) associated with the slow overall motions of the aggregate and surfactant molecules within it, and local order parameter S. We find tau(s) of vesicles is an order of magnitude larger than that of micelles signifying that the tumbling of vesicle particles and surfactant diffusion over the vesicle are much slower than those for micelle. Tau(f) and S for vesicles are also larger than those for micelles. Molecular environments of the surfactant are also discussed from the dependence of the chemical shifts on m at constant X(2) or from that on X(2) at constant m. When the chemical shifts in vesicle and micelle are compared at constant m, the chemical shifts in vesicle are displaced to a lower magnetic field than those in micelle, which implies that the surfactant molecules are arranged more closely to each other in the vesicle than in the micelle.  相似文献

4-endo-5-exo-Dibromo-3-methyl-3,6-endo-oxyperhydrophthalic anhydride 3b and 4-exo-5-endo-dibro-mo-3-methyl-3,6-endo-oxyperhydrophtbalic anhydride 3c were isolated from the bromo-adducts of 3-methyl-3,6-endo-oxy-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride 2. When 3b or 3c was heated in quinoline, only 3-bromo-2-methylfuran 4 was obtained from 3b and only 4-bromo-2-methylfuran 5 from 3c.  相似文献

For a determination of the stabilization energy between the two rotational isomers of m-fluorobenzaldehyde, the S(1,2)<--S0 absorption spectra were observed in fluid n-hexane solutions at 293 and 198 K. After employing a simulation method for the spectra, we succeeded in determining the stabilization energies in the ground and the relevant excited state at the same time. The energy was estimated to be 1.7 +/- 0.5 kJ mol(-1) for S0 and also for S1 while it was 2.9 +/- 0.5 kJ mol(-1) for S2. Ab initio calculations at MP2/6-311G** computational level predicted that the O-cis form in the S0 state is more stable by 1.9 +/- 0.5 kJ mol(-1) than the counterpart rotamer, O-trans form. In summary, a schematic energy level diagram of the two rotational isomers will be illustrated for the S0, S1, and S2 states in the fluid system.  相似文献

Two quanta of the aldehyde H-wag vibrational mode are observed with relatively constant activity in the vibrational structure of 3A″ (nπ*) → 1A′ phosphorescence spectra of benzaldehyde, deuterated benzaldehydes, pyridine aldehydes, p-methylbenzaldehyde, p-fluorobenzaldehyde, and p-chlorobenzaldehyde at 4.2°K in a methylcyclohexane polycrystalline environment. The fundamental is either missing or very weak. Contrasted to the aldehyde H-wag mode, higher quanta of the CHO torsional mode are observed in the phosphorescence of the same molecules with variable intensity and progression length. These results are interpreted in terms of a static (i.e., valence) distortion of the 3nπ potential surface along the aldehyde H-wagging coordinate, and pseudo-Jahn-Teller distortion along the CHO torsional coordinate. The valence distortion is analogous to a distortion found for the 3nπ* state in propynal and its origin probably lies in excess electron density at the carbonyl carbon in the excited state. The dynamical Jahn-Teller distortion is ascribed to vibronic interaction between 3A″ (nπ) and the nearest 3A′(nπ*) states.  相似文献

As part of a series of studies to discover new topoisomerase II inhibitors, novel pyrimidoacridones, pyrimidophenoxadines, and pyrimidocarbazoles were synthesized, and in vitro and in vivo antitumor activities and DNA-protein and/or DNA-topoisomerase II cross-linking activity as an indicator of topoisomerase II-DNA cleavable complex formation were evaluated. The pyrimidocarbazoles possessed high in vitro and in vivo potencies. Compound 26 (ER-37326), 8-acetyl-2-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-1H-pyrimido[5,6,1-jk]carbazole-1,3(2H)-dione, showed in vitro growth inhibitory activity with respective IC(50) values of 0.049 microM and 0.35 microM against mouse leukemia P388 and human oral cancer KB. In vivo, this compound inhibited the tumor growth of mouse sarcoma M5076 implanted into mice with T/C values of 42% and 13% at 3.13 and 6.25 mg/kg/d respectively without significantly affecting the body weight. In addition, compound 26 (ER-37326) increased the formation of DNA-topoisomerase II cross-linking in P388 cells.  相似文献
