A new molecular dyad consisting of a Cy5 chromophore and ferrocene (Fc) and a triad consisting of Cy5, Fc, and β‐cyclodextrin (CD) are synthesized and their photophysical properties investigated at both the ensemble and single‐molecule levels. Hole transfer efficiency from Cy5 to Fc in the dyad is reduced upon addition of CD. This is due to an increase in the Cy5‐Fc separation (r) when the Fc is encapsulated in the macrocyclic host. On the other hand, the triad adopts either a Fc‐CD inclusion complex conformation in which hole transfer quenching of the Cy5 by Fc is minimal or a quasi‐static conformation with short r and rapid charge transfer. Single‐molecule fluorescence measurements reveal that r is lengthened when the triad molecules are deposited on a glass substrate. By combining intramolecular charge transfer and competitive supramolecular interaction, the triad acts as an efficient chemical sensor to detect different bioactive analytes such as amantadine hydrochloride and sodium lithocholate in aqueous solution and synthetic urine. 相似文献

Frequency measurements are given for the 0001-0000 and 0111-0110 bands of N2O from 1257 to 1340 cm?1. The measurements utilize heterodyne techniques by measuring small frequency differences between a tunable diode laser locked to the center of an N2O absorption line and harmonic combinations of frequencies of radiation from two CO2 Lamb-dip-stabilized lasers. The measurements are facilitated by the use of the CO laser as a transfer laser whose frequency is also measured. These measurements have been combined with other data to provide new band constants and frequency calibration tables for several band systems of N2O in the following regions; 1215 to 1340, 1816 to 1930, and 2135 to 2268 cm?1. The kinetics of the solvolysis of the ion trans-[Coen2N3Cl]+ have been investigated at several temperatures in mixtures of water with t-butyl alcohol with concentrations of the latter ranging up to 50 vol% or a mol fraction of 0.16. Values for the enthalpy and entropy of activation show sharp changes with changing solvent composition which can be correlated with extrema in the physical properties of the mixture concerned with sharp changes in solvent structure. Plots of log(rate constant) against the reciprocal of the dielectric constant and against the Grunwald-Winstein Y factor are both curved. The application of a free energy cycle shows that the effect of changes in solvent structure on the solvolysis dominates on the cobalt(III) cation in the transition state over that on the cation in the initial state. 相似文献

Summary This paper gives an account of the systematic, collaborative learning programme undertaken by a group of experienced analytical laboratories within the European Economic Community (EEC) to improve the state-of-the art in the determination of individual chlorobiphenyl congeners in different matrices in preparation for the certification exercises to produce two fish oils as certified reference materials (CRMs). The choice of individual CB congeners, the critical GC parameters necessary to optimise the chromatographic separation and quantification of the congener is given. An assessment is made of the methods of extraction, separation and clean-up of samples prior to gas chromatographic analysis.

Summary The results of optimizing Soxhlet and Simultaneous Distillation-Extraction (SSDE) procedures for the isolation of natural insecticides fromTagetes erecta, Tagetes patula, andTagetes minuta, members of theCompositae family, are presented. Extraction procedures were developed and validated that produced the extract with the highest degree of biocidal activity. The highest activity was obtained with extracts isolated by SSDE using methylene chloride. Initial work was carried out on a micro-SSDE. Preparative SSDE was used to provide large quantities of extracts for bioassays. Bioassays were used to govern optimization procedures usingAedes aegypti andAnopheles stephensi adults and larvae as target organisms.Tagetes minuta was determined to be the most active of the three species studied. Evaluation of activity and recovery versus extraction time was investigated. It was determined that an extraction time of ten hours resulted in the highest activity and over 90% recovery of the oils. The Community Bureau of Reference has organized a collaborative interlaboratory project to improve the analytical protocol for some specific chlorobiphenyls (CBs) within the European Community (EC). A series of test procedures were prescribed to optimize the gas chromatographic conditions for splitless and on-column injection, which substantially improved the quality of data. Important parameters included the initial column and injector temperatures and the choice of the polarity of the stationary phase. In a study with cleaned eel-fat extracts, coefficients of variation for reproducibility CV(R) ranging from 11 to 24% at the 0.04–0.3 mg/kg level per CB congener were obtained. Tetrabutylammonium salts of the mixed haloindates, [Bu4N][InCl3X], X=Cl, Br, I, interact with aromatic solvents forming liquid inclusion compounds. The aromatic/cation ratio (A/C), a measure of the amount of guest aromatic, has been determined for a variety of simple aromatics. The values range from 2.6 to 0.4, substantially lower than the A/A of similar [Bu4N][Al2R6X] liquid clathrates. The ability of these liquid clathrates to function as catalysis media has been explored. The solubility of (Ph3P)2Rh(CO)Cl and (Ph3P)3RhCl in the various clathrates was determined. It was found that significant leaching of the catalyst into the bulk aromatic solvent occurred, ranging from 13 to 94%. A related liquid clathrate, [Li·12-crown-4][InCl4]·(C6H5CH3)2, had <1% of the dissolved catalyst leached. 相似文献

The absolute frequencies of 39 lines in the 0002-0000, 2001-0000, and 1201-0000 bands of N2O in the range 4300–4800 cm?1 have been measured by heterodyne frequency techniques. The lines were each measured in Doppler-limited absorption, with a color-center laser as a tunable probe of the N2O and two stabilized CO2 lasers as reference frequencies. New rovibrational constants have been fitted to these measurements. Tables of calculated transition frequencies are given, with estimated absolute uncertainties as small as 10?4 cm?1. The pressure shifts of four lines have been measured, and the values fall within the range of 0 to ?2 MHz/kPa (0 to ?0.2 MHz/Torr). 相似文献
