Measurement of transverse vibrations/visualization of mode shapes in square plate by using digital speckle pattern interferometry and wavelet transform

New filtering scheme is investigated and implemented on digital speckle pattern interferometric fringes to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the speckle interferograms. To establish the potential of new filtering scheme the experiment was conducted on the vibrating cantilever beam. Experimental results revealed that the new filtering scheme is more powerful than other known filtering schemes (Kumar et al. Opt Laser Eng 2004;41:81–93. Kumar et al. Opt Laser Technol 2001;33:567–571. Shakher et al. Opt Eng 2002;41:176–180. Shakher et al. Proceedings ICICS, Singapore, 9–12 September 1997, p. 953–956. Bowler et al. Proceedings of IEE second international conference on image processing, London, 1986, p. 24–26. Lim. Opt Eng 1981;20:670–678. Devila et al. J Mod Opt 1995;42:1795–1804; Kaufmann et al. Opt Eng 1996;35:9–14). The new scheme reduced the speckle noise and improved SNR in speckle interferograms. Further, the new investigated filtering scheme is implemented to study the mode shapes of square plates under two different boundary conditions. In the first condition all the edges of the square plate were fixed while in the second condition two adjacent edges were fixed and the remaining two edges were free. From the experimental results it is clear that the mode shapes are more distinctly visible with the implementation of the new filtering scheme as compared to other known schemes. Under both the boundary conditions the recorded resonance frequencies were compared with the calculated values of resonance frequencies based on classical theory. The results obtained form DSPI show good agreement with classical theory.     

Tauberian Constants for Double Series

The object of this paper is to extend a result of Agnew in [1]for single series to double series, and so enable Tauberianconstants between matrix transformations of double sequencesto be calculated using the technique that many authors haveused previously for single sequences (see, for instance, [2,3, 8]). This method (see below) gives the best possible Tauberianconstants in the form of certain upper limits, and we attemptto calculate these for Cesàro summability with variousknown Tauberian conditions. In Section 2, we introduce our notationand review earlier work. In Section 3, we prove our main result,and we discuss applications to Cesàro summability inSection 4.     

Rapid and Efficient Synthesis of Imidazolines and Bisimidazolines Under Microwave and Ultrasonic Irradiation

Small assemblies of 2-imidazolines and bisimidazolines from appropriate nitriles and ethylenediamine with catalytic amounts of P₂S₅ employing a microwave assisted protocol were prepared. Sonication of this system also led to successful synthesis of 2-imidazolines and bisimidazolines. Another advantage of these systems is the ability to carry out large scale reactions.     

Critical temperatures of triangular Ising lattice with small second neighbor interaction

The next-nearest neighbor correlation function for isotropic triangular Ising system has been evaluated. This function is used to determine the shifts in the critical temperatures of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic triangular lattice after introduction of a small next-nearest neighbor interaction in zero field.     

Integrability Properties of A Supersymmetric Coupled Dispersionless Integrable System

We study the integrability aspects of an N=1 supersymmetric coupled dispersionless (SUSY-CD) integrable system in detail. We present a superfield Lax representation of the SUSY-CD system by writing its (3×3)-matrix superfield Lax pair and show that the zero-curvature condition corresponds to the SUSY-CD system. From the fermionic superfield Lax representation, we obtain a set of coupled superfield Riccati equations that we further use to obtain an infinite set of superfield conserved currents. We investigate the Darboux transformation of the SUSY-CD system and use it to obtain multisoliton solutions of the system.     

A result on the sum of element orders of a finite group

Let G be a finite group and $$\psi (G)=\sum _{g\in {G}}{o(g)}$$. There are some results about the relation between $$\psi (G)$$ and the structure of G. For instance, it is proved that if G is a group of order n and $$\psi (G)>\dfrac{211}{1617}\psi (C_n)$$, then G is solvable. Herzog et al. in (J Algebra 511:215–226, 2018) put forward the following conjecture: Conjecture. If G is a non-solvable group of order n, then $$\begin{aligned} {\psi (G)}\,{\le }\,{{\dfrac{211}{1617}}{\psi (C_n)}}, \end{aligned}$$with equality if and only if $$G \cong A_5$$. In particular, this inequality holds for all non-Abelian simple groups. In this paper, we prove a modified version of Herzog’s Conjecture.
