In this communication, we discuss the electro-oxidation of the fermentation products formate and ethanol at platinum black modified electrodes under microbial fuel cell conditions, i.e., at neutral pH, room temperature, and in microbial culture solutions. The electrocatalytic oxidation was studied using cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and potentiostatic coulometry. Current densities up to 6 mA cm−2 at 0.2 V oxidation potential and 97% coulombic efficiency were observed for the electro-oxidation of 100 mM solutions of formate in pH 7 buffer solution. Electrode deactivation could be successfully prevented using an oxidative potential reactivation procedure. Polymer coating, however, fully stopped the formate oxidation. As expected, the electro-oxidation of ethanol was less efficient—with a limiting current density being 600 μA cm−2.Dedicated to Professor Dr. Alan M. Two series of 5-[[4-[4-(dialkylamino)butyl]-l-cyclohexyl]acetyl], and 5-[(dialkylamino)acyl]-10,11-dihydro-5H- dibenzo[b,e][1,4]diazepin-11-ones were synthesized as potential m2-selective ligands 1,2. Their affinity and selectivity for the muscarinic cholinergic receptor m-AChR subtypes were determined. Replacing a nitrogen with CH in the piperidine ring of 5-[[4-[4-(dialkylamino)butyl]-l-piperidinyl]acetyl]-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo-[b,e][1,4]diazepin-11-ones 3 significantly altered the affinity and selectivity to the muscarinic receptor subtypes.  相似文献

Multilayers of poly(acrylic acid), PAA, and chitosan, CHI, have been built by the layer-by-layer (LbL) method from aqueous solutions at different pH values and analyzed by the dissipative quartz crystal microbalance (D-QCM) and ellipsometry. The results showed that under all of the assembly conditions considered the growth of the films is nonlinear. The thickness of the PAA layers increases as the pH of the assembling solutions decreases, whereas the adsorption of CHI is almost unaffected by the pH conditions. The comparison of the thickness obtained by D-QCM and by ellipsometry has allowed us to calculate the water content of the films, showing that the multilayers are highly hydrated, with an average water content higher than 20%. The analysis of D-QCM data has provided high-frequency values of the complex shear modulus that are in the megapascal range and shows a transition from mainly viscous to mainly elastic behavior for the added PAA layers, depending on the pH. The monomer surface density in each layer (obtained from the combination of ellipsometry and differential refractive index measurements) indicated that the monomer density depends on the assembly conditions. It was found that the adsorption kinetics is a bimodal process, with characteristic times that depend on the number and nature of the layers. Finally, the possibility of using of these multilayers as a drug storage and delivery system has been evaluated.  相似文献

The diamagnetic complex [Re(CN)8]3- is shown to react with Mn2+ ions in methanol to generate the centered, face-capped octahedral cluster (CH3OH)24Mn9Re6(CN)48, which is structurally analogous to (CH3OH)24Mn9Mo6(CN)48. Related reactions involving stoichiometric mixtures of octacyanometalate complexes generate the substituted species (CH3OH)24Mn9Mo5Re(CN)48, (CH3OH)24Co9Mo5Re(CN)48, (CH3OH)24Mn9Mo3Re3(CN)48, (CH3OH)24Mn9W5Re(CN)48 and (CH3OH)24Co9W5Re(CN)48, in which the O(h) symmetry of the cluster core is broken. Reassessment of the magnetic properties of the Mn9Mo6(CN)48 cluster confirm that it possesses a ground state spin of S = 39/2, but does not exhibit single-molecule-magnet behavior. Lowering the symmetry of the molecule by substitutions of ReV at one or three of the MoV sites does not lead to an overall increase in the magnetic anisotropy, as probed by ac magnetic susceptibility measurements. A similar result occurs for the other substituted species, with the important exception of the new single-molecule magnet (CH3OH)24Co9W5Re(CN)48, for which the spin reversal barrier is significantly reduced relative to that observed previously in (CH3OH)24Co9W6(CN)48.  相似文献

NMR studies of synthetic polymers and biomacromolecules, which provide insight into the conformation and dynamics of these materials, can benefit strongly from the increased sensitivity offered by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) and other hyperpolarizing methods. In this study 1H DNP nuclear spin hyperpolarization of two polybutadiene samples, representing a supercooled liquid and an entangled polymer melt, is demonstrated at 0.35 T magnetic field strength and at temperatures between −80 and +50 °C. Electron spin polarization transfer from the α,γ‐bisdiphenylene‐β‐phenylallyl radical to the sample nuclei is achieved by the Overhauser and solid effect. DNP signal enhancements are studied, varying the electron spin resonance offset, microwave power, and sample temperature. The influence of spin relaxation times, line widths, and molecular dynamics are discussed. The results show promising, up to 15‐fold NMR signal enhancements using noncryogenic temperatures and an inexpensive setup that is less technically demanding than current high‐field DNP setups.

The aim of this work is to establish a method for the simultaneous determination of eight penicillins in milk samples by LC‐UV, LC‐MS and LC‐MS/MS. The procedure involves a step for clean‐up and to preconcentrate the analytes by SPE and a subsequent chromatographic analysis. LC‐UV, LC‐MS and LC‐MS/MS have been used for the simultaneous quantification of penicillins in milk. The proposed methods have been validated according to the EU guideline and present LOQ below the maximum limits of residues (MRLs) established by the European Union for penicillins in milk. The developed methods were applied to different milk samples obtained from cows medicated with penicillins.  相似文献
