A characterization of polyhedral market games

The class of games without side payments obtainable from markets having finitely many commodities and continuous concave utility functions is considered. It is first shown that each of these so-called market games is totally balanced, for a reasonable generalization of the idea of a balanced side payment game. It is then shown that among polyhedral games (i.e., games for which each (V(S) is a polyhedron), this property characterizes the market games.

Summary This work describes the dialysis, the determination of the total soap content in the latex system by conductometric titration, the effect of dilution on soap distribution between the aqueous and polymer phases, the confirmation of the average diameter of the latex particles, the electrophoretic behavior, and the establishment of the solids content below which the latex behaves according toBeer's law for the transmission of light. The colloidal system used in this study was a styrenebutadiene ( 11) latex (Naugatex 2740) with potassium salt of the disproportionated rosin (Dresinate 214) as emulsifier.

Zusammenfassung An einem Styrol-Butadien (11)-Latex (Naugatex 2740) mit dem Kaliumsalz von disproportioniertem Harz (Dresinate 214) als Emulgator wurden folgende Untersuchungen durchgeführt: Dialyse, konduktometrische Bestimmung der Gesamtkonzentration an Seife im Latex, Einfluß der Verdünnung auf die Verteilung der Seife zwischen wässeriger und polymerer Phase, Ermittlung des mittleren Durchmessers der Partikel und elektrophoretisches Verhalten. Weiterhin wurde noch festgestellt, bis zu welchem Feststoffgehalt dasBeersche Gesetz für die Latexssuspension gilt.

Correlated pairs in the attractive Hubbard model

The attractive Hubbard Model is considered in the strong coupling limits (U?t) by treating the hopping integral, t, as a perturbation. A phase diagram emerges with two critical temperatures: itk_BitT_ct²/U and itk_BT_UU/4. For T<T_c, there is regime of strongly correlated pairs reminescent of superconductivity. For T_c<T<T_U, there is a domain of uncorrelated pairs. For T>T_U, one has a normal metal.

Zusammenfassung Bei deterministischen Netzplantechnik-Modellen erfolgt die Terminierung der einzelnen Vorgänge in der Regel unter der Annahme, da\ die vorgegebenen Vorgangsdauern konstant sind. Fa\t man dagegen diese Dauern als minimale Zeitabstände auf, so lassen sich zusätzliche Aussagen über die Auswirkungen von Vorgangsdehnungen bzw. -unterbrechungen ermitteln. Darüber hinaus können höhere Pufferzeiten bzw. kürzere Projektdauern erzielt werden.

Summary In deterministic network models the given durations of activities are usually assumed to be constant for time analysis. If those durations are interpreted as minimal durations, additional assertions about expanding resp. interrupting activities are possible. Moreover, greater floats resp. shorter project durations can be achieved.

The Reactivity Of singlet carbenes. An ab initio study

The energy barriers for the addition to ethylene of a series of carbenes have been calculated at an ab initio level. using the STO-3G and 3-21G basis sets. It is shown that the usual extrapolation of experiment results, which predicts that the reactivity of carbenes decreases when increasing its nucleophilic character, is not valid.     

Das nichtkooperative Nichtnullsummen-Zwei-Personen-Spiel

Zusammenfassung Als Grundlage für die Theorie des Nichtnullsummen-Zwei-Personen-Spiels werden die Begriffe Gleichgewichtspunkt, Sattelpunkt, präventive und defensive Strategie, Felddominanz, Strategiendominanz und mehrere Unterbegriffe davon definiert. Mit ihrer Hilfe wird eine Anzahl von Sätzen bewiesen, die unmittelbar zu einer Lösung dieses Spieltyps führen: Es zeigt sich, daß es zwei Klassen von Nichtnullsummenspielen gibt: solche mit spielbedingten und solche mit persönlichkeitsbestimmten Lösungen. Erstere umfassen alle Spiele, die einen einzigen, nichtdominierten Gleichgewichtspunkt besitzen. Dieser ist die Lösung. Bei allen übrigen Spielen ist die Persönlichkeit der Spieler sozusagen selbst Teil des Spiels. Auch hierfür werden Lösungen angegeben.

Summary The following terms being the basis of the two-person non-zero-sum games will be defined: equilibrium point, saddle point, preventive and defensive strategy, field dominance, strategy dominance, and several other sub-terms. Using these terms a number of theorems leading directly to a solution of this type of games will be proved. It is shown that there are two types of non-zero-sum games: one type with game-determined solutions and another one with personality-determined solutions. The first one includes all games having a single non-dominated equilibrium point, which is the solution. In all other games the player's intention must be considered as part of the game. Here as well solutions are given.
