A twisted heteroclinic cycle was proved to exist more than twenty-
five years ago for the reaction-diffusion FitzHugh-Nagumo equations in their
traveling wave moving frame. The result implies the existence of infinitely
many traveling front waves and infinitely many traveling back waves for the
system. However efforts to numerically render the twisted cycle were not fruit-
ful for the main reason that such orbits are structurally unstable. Presented
here is a bisectional search method for the primary types of traveling wave solu-
tions for the type of bistable reaction-diffusion systems the FitzHugh-Nagumo
equations represent. The algorithm converges at a geometric rate and the wave
speed can be approximated to significant precision in principle. The method
is then applied for a recently obtained axon model with the conclusion that
twisted heteroclinic cycle maybe more of a theoretical artifact. 相似文献

One-dimensional integral imaging (1DII) which only has horizontal disparity is a practical solution of high resolution in the vertical direction, low-cost, easy-viewable three-dimensional (3D) display. A 1DII based on a parallax barrier is proposed in this paper. The 1DII consists of a parallax barrier and a display panel. The operation principle and parameter calculation of the 1DII are described in detail. Two prototypes of the proposed 1DII and conventional 1DII based on a lenticular lens array are developed. The proposed 1DII improves the quality of the 3D image and provides larger viewing angle than that based on a lenticular lens array, and it is simpler and has lower cost than that based on a lenticular lens array. 相似文献

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) under motion has drawn significant attention in recent years. Motion of the NMR probe has serious effects on NMR measurement. For example, NMR logging normally runs at downhole condition with tool motion at a speed of 30 ft/min. We propose here methods for motion corrections of NMR data based on the quantitative analysis of motion effects on polarization and echo acquisition. We also produced a multi-functional NMR scanning system to verify the theoretical analysis. Presented experiments demonstrate that the theoretical and experimental results match very well. 相似文献

A facile approach to the synthesis of pressure and temperature dual‐responsive polystyrene (PS) microbeads with controlled sizes via dispersion polymerization is described. Three different luminophors are selected and directly introduced into the reaction system and thus incorporated into the resultant PS microbeads during polymerization. By manipulating the reaction conditions, including concentrations of the initiator and monomer, polarity of the reaction medium, and injection rate for the monomer, uniform PS microbeads with sizes ranging from 1 to 5 μm are obtained. When a light source centered at 365 nm is used to excite all the luminophors in the PS beads, three distinct and resolvable emission peaks corresponding well with the luminophors are observed. By taking advantage of their sensitive responses to both pressure and temperature, the PS beads can be utilized for quantitative measurements of these two stimulations simultaneously. The PS beads loaded with multiple luminophors have the ability to serve as building blocks for the fabrication of novel sensing and imaging devices and therefore provide a promising strategy for the study of aerodynamics. 相似文献

基于密度泛函理论第一性原理系统研究了BN链掺杂石墨烯纳米带(GNRs)的电学及磁学特性, 对锯齿型石墨烯纳米带(ZGNRs)分非磁态(NM)、反铁磁态(AFM)及铁磁性(FM)三种情况分别进行考虑. 重点研究了单个BN链掺杂的位置效应. 计算发现: BN链掺杂扶手椅型石墨烯纳米带(AGNRs) 能使带隙增加, 不同位置的掺杂, 能使其成为带隙丰富的半导体. BN链掺杂非磁态ZGNR的不同位置, 其金属性均降低, 并能出现准金属的情况; BN链掺杂反铁磁态ZGNR, 能使其从半导体变为金属或半金属(half-metal), 这取决于掺杂的位置; BN链掺杂铁磁态ZGNR, 其金属性保持不变, 与掺杂位置无关. 这些结果表明: BN链掺杂能有效调控石墨烯纳米带的电子结构, 并形成丰富的电学及磁学特性, 这对于发展各种类型的石墨烯基纳米电子器件有重要意义.

采用Sn自熔剂法制备了具有n型传导的VIII型Ba8Ga16 xGexSn30(0 x 1.0)单晶笼合物,并对其结构和热电特性进行研究.研究结果表明:Ge在单晶中的实际含量较少,随着掺杂量的增加样品的晶格常数略有减小,Ge掺杂后样品的载流子浓度较掺杂前低,迁移率增加;所有样品的Seebeck系数均为负值,且绝对值较未掺杂样品低,但Ge掺杂后样品的电导率提高了62%;x=0.5的样品在500 K附近取得最大ZT值1.25. 相似文献

Based on our study on field emission from multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), we experimentally manufactured field emission display (FED) triode with a MWNTs cold cathode, and demonstrated an excellent performance of MWNTs as field emitters. The measured luminance of the phosphor screens was 1.8 × 103 cd/m2 for green light. The emission is stable with a fluctuation of only 1.5% at an average current of 260 μA. 相似文献

Monodisperse polystyrene microspheres with diameters of 200–500 nm were prepared by dispersion polymerization with microwave irradiation with poly(N‐vinylpyrrolidone) as a steric stabilizer and 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile as a radical initiator in an ethanol/water medium. The morphology, size, and size distribution of the polystyrene microspheres were characterized with transmission electron microscopy and photon correlation spectroscopy, and the formed films of the polystyrene dispersions were characterized with atomic force microscopy. The effects of the monomer concentration, stabilizer concentration, and initiator concentration on the size and size distribution of the polystyrene microspheres were investigated. The polystyrene microspheres prepared by dispersion polymerization with microwave irradiation were smaller, more uniform, and steadier than those obtained with conventional heating. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
