Maximal residuated lattices with lifting boolean center

In this paper, we define, inspired by ring theory, the class of maximal residuated lattices with lifting boolean center and prove a structure theorem for them: any maximal residuated lattice with lifting boolean center is isomorphic to a finite direct product of local residuated lattices.     

Kinetic method for acetylsalicylic acid determination based on its inhibitory effect upon the catalytic decomposition of H<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>2</Subscript>

The catalytic reaction of catalase was investigated, by means of a Clark oxygen sensor, in the presence of various concentrations of acetylsalicylic acid. Michaelis-Menten kinetic parameters were determined from Lineweaver-Burk plots, obtained in the absence and in the presence of the inhibitor. The inhibition pattern, suggested by the Lineweave-Burk plots, corresponds to a fully mixed inhibition mechanism. A kinetic method, based on the indicator reaction: , was developed for the quantitative determination of acetylsalicylic acid. Calibration graphs of the reciprocal value of first-order rate constant versus acetylsalicylic concentration covered the concentration range (2.99–19.98)×10^–4 mol/L, while the detection limit was 4.12×10^–4 mol/L acetylsalicylic acid with a standard deviation of 2.1×10^–5 mol/L.     

Striking selectivity of anion incorporation into polypyrrole by competitive doping: perchlorate versus hexafluorophosphate

In the electro-oxidative preparation of polypyrrole films from electrolyte media containing both perchlorate and hexafluorophosphate anions a striking selectivity towards ClO₄ was observed, with a three-fold preference for this anion in films from aqueous medium and a greater than ten-fold preference from MeCN. This result is of benefit towards the production of polypyrroles containing complex functionalized dopant anions, since the presence of PF₆ to bolster electrolysis parameters will less readily carry over into the final polymer. PF₆ is particularly useful for this purpose in MeCN, where ClO₄ is inappropriate, being itself too readily incorporated into the polymer from this solvent system.     

Exclusion chromatography of polypropylenamine dendrimers

Size-exclusion chromatography of polypropylenamine (POPAM) dendrimers is investigated. The nitrile-terminated half-generations can be analysed on polystyrene-divinylbenzene-based column packings using tetrahydrofuran as a mobile phase. Several basic and acidic aqueous phase systems were compared for exclusion chromatography of POPAM-amine dendrimers. The optimum system consists of a reversed-phase silica stationary phase deactivated by tetraazacyclotetradecane and a mobile phase of 0.25 M formic acid at 60°C. Several by-products were identified by thermospray mass spectrometric detection.     

On characterizations of sup-preserving functionals

Let (E, ≦) be a vector lattice and E ₊ be the set of all nonnegative elements of E. We investigate M-functionals from E ₊ into ?₊, that is functions A: E ₊ → ?₊ such that $$ \Lambda (f \vee g) = \Lambda (f) \vee \Lambda (g),\Lambda (\alpha f) = \alpha \Lambda (f) $$ for α ≧ 0 and f, g ? E ₊. Let X be a set and Σ be an algebra of subsets of X. By an M-measure we understand the function μ: Σ → ?₊ such that μ( $ \not 0 $ ) = 0 and $$ \mu (A \cup B) = \mu (A) \vee \mu (B)forA,B \in \Sigma ). $$ The main result of the paper is a Riesz type theorem. We prove that every M-functional on C(X, ?)₊ can be expressed in terms of M-measure.
