Biomimetic Asymmetric Reduction of Quinazolinones with Chiral and Regenerable NAD(P)H Models

A facile approach to chiral dihydroquinazolinone derivatives has been described via biomimetic asymmetric reduction of quinazolinones with chiral and regenerable NAD(P)H models. The utility of this method was demonstrated by a concise synthesis of the bromodomain protein divalent inhibitor.     

A simple aptamer molecular beacon assay for rapid detection of aflatoxin B1

A simple aptamer molecular beacon assay for rapid detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) was achieved. AFB1-binding induced formation of a hairpin structure and closeness of fluorophore label and quencher probe, causing fluorescence decrease.     

Determination of endocrine disruptors in environmental waters using poly(acrylamide-vinylpyridine) monolithic capillary for in-tube solid-phase microextraction coupled to high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection

A method for the determination of endocrine disruptors, bisphenol A and 17alpha-ethinylestradiol, in environmental water samples was developed using in-tube solid-phase microextraction followed by liquid chromatography and fluorescence detection. A poly(acrylamide-vinylpyridine) monolithic capillary column was applied as the extraction media in view of its greater phase ratio than open-tubular capillaries and thus higher extraction efficiency. After optimizing the extraction conditions, bisphenol A and 17alpha-ethinylestradiol were extracted directly from water samples in a wide dynamic linear range of 0.5-1000 ng mL(-1), with the detection limits obtained as 0.064 and 0.12 ng mL(-1), respectively. The precision of the method was satisfactory with the intraday and interday RSD values smaller than 7.2%. Environmental water samples of different sources were successfully analyzed with the presented method and the monolithic capillary was proved to be robust and reusable in analyzing real water samples.     

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of New Pyridothienopyrimidines and Pyridothienotriazines

5‐Acetyl‐3‐amino‐4‐aryl‐6‐methylthieno[2,3‐b]pyridine‐2‐carboxamides ( 5a,b ) were reacted with triethyl orthoformate or nitrous acid to give the corresponding pyrimidinones 6a,b and triazinones 7a,b . The reaction of 5a,b with acetic anhydride was carried out and its products were identified as a mixture of 8‐acetyl‐9‐aryl‐2,7‐dimethylpyrido[3′,2′:4,5]thieno[3,2‐d]pyrimidine‐4(3H)‐one ( 9a,b ) and related 5‐acetyl‐4‐aryl‐3‐biacetylamino‐6‐methylthieno[2,3‐b]pyridine‐2‐carbonitrile ( 10a,b ). Reaction of 7a with some halocompounds afforded the N‐alkylated triazinones 8a‐c . Chlorination of 6a,b and 9a,b with phosphorus oxychloride produced 4‐chloropyrimidines 11a‐d which were used as precursors for the rest of the target heterocycles. Some of the prepared compounds were tested in vitro for their antimicrobial activities.     

Simultaneous Determination of Glyphosate,Glufosinate, and Aminomethylphosphonic Acid by Capillary Electrophoresis After 9‐Fluorenylmethyl Chloroformate Derivatization

A capillary electrophoresis (CE) with UV absorption detection method is described for the simultaneous determination of glufosinate, glyphosate, and aminomethylphosphoric acid. The 9‐fluorenylmethyl chloroformate (FMOC‐Cl) was used for precolumn derivatization of the non‐absorbing herbicides. The three analytes were separated by CE in 9 min with 25 mM borate buffer at pH 9, followed by detection with a UV detector at 260 nm. We demonstrate how the detection limit can be enhanced by using acetonitrile‐salt mixtures. With acetonitrile‐salt mixtures, the limit of detection (LOD) was in the 10^?7 M range. Linearity of more than two orders of magnitude was generally obtained. Precisions of migration times and peak areas were less than 0.9% and 7.5%, respectively. The applicabilities of the method for the analysis of ground water and lake water were examined.     

A Pair of Novel Heptentriol Stereoisomers from the Ascomycete Daldinia concentrica

A pair of novel heptentriol stereoisomers, hept‐6‐ene‐2,4,5‐triols 2 and 3 , were isolated from the culture broth of the ascomycete Daldinia concentrica (Bolton : Fries ) Cesati & De Notaris , besides three known compounds, i.e., 2,3‐dihydro‐5‐hydroxy‐2‐methyl‐4H‐1‐benzopyran‐4‐one ( 1 ), 3,5‐dihydroxy‐2‐(1‐oxobutyl)‐cyclohex‐2‐en‐1‐one ( 4 ), and pyroglutamic acid (=5‐oxo‐L ‐proline; 5 ). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic means, including 2D‐NMR (HMQC, HMBC, ¹H,¹H‐COSY).     

The Efficient Synthesis of the Optically Active β‐Hydroxyl‐γ‐Butyrolactone Derivatives

The optically active β‐hydroxyl‐γ‐butyrolactones were synthesized from nonchiral starting material by employing reductive cleavage reaction, sharpless asymmetric epoxidation and dihydroxylation, and Lewis acid‐catalysed cyclization as key steps. This strategy can be used to prepare many chiral β‐hydroxyl‐γ‐butyrolactone analogues.     

Probing the Effects of Reagent Gas Pressure and Ion Source Temperature for Dimethyl Ether Chemical Ionization of Tricyclic Antidepressants in an External Source Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer

This study examines the reagent gas pressure and ion source temperature dependence for dimethyl ether chemical ionization (DME CI) mass spectra recorded with an external source ion trap mass spectrometer (ITMS). Information for better controls of the reagent gas pressure in order to obtain fair CI spectra is provided. The origin of M^+? ions observed in DME CIMS is discussed in detail. Furthermore, the ion source temperature effect on the DME CI is also investigated.     

Synthesis of statistical glycidyl methacrylate‐n‐vinyl pyrrolidone copolymers and their reaction with naproxen

Free‐radical copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) with N‐vinylpyrrolidone (VPD) was carried out at 50 °C using 3.0 mol · L^?1 of N,N′‐dimethylformamide solution and 9.0 · 10^?3 mol · L^?1 of 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator. The modification reaction of GMA‐VPD copolymers with a model bioactive carboxylic acid, 6‐methoxy‐α‐methyl‐2‐naphthaleneacetic acid (naproxen), was studied in the homogeneous phase using basic catalysts. Reaction of Pyrimidinonethione Derivatives: Synthesis of N‐Methyl‐2‐Hydrizinopyrimidine‐4‐One,Thiazolo[3,4‐b] N‐Methylpyrimidinone; 2‐(1‐Pyrazolonyl) N‐Methylpyrimidine‐4‐one and 2‐Hydrazino‐N‐Methyl Pyrimidine‐4‐One Derivatives

6‐Aryl‐5‐cyano‐4‐pyrimidinone‐2‐thion derivatives 1a‐c reacted with methyl iodide (1:2) to give the corresponding 2‐S,N‐dimethyl pyrimidine‐4‐one derivatives 2a‐c . Compounds 2a‐c were in turn, reacted with hydrazine hydrate to give the sulfur free reaction products 3a‐c . These reaction products were taken as the starting materials for the synthesis of several new heterocyclic derivatives. Reaction of 3a‐c with acetic anhydride and formic acid gave pyrimido triazines 4a‐c and 7a‐c , respectively. Their reactions with active methylene containing reagents gave the corresponding 2‐(1‐pyrazonyl)‐N‐methyl pyrimidine derivatives 9a‐c and 10a‐c , respectively. Their reactions with aromatic aldehydes afforded the corresponding 2‐hydrazono pyrimidine derivatives 11a‐c . The structure of these reactions products were established based on both elemental analysis and spectral data studies.
