The feasibility of constructing polymer/clay nanocomposites with polypeptides as the matrix material is shown. Cationic poly‐L‐lysine · HBr (PLL) was reinforced by sodium montmorillonite clay. The PLL/clay nanocomposites were made via the solution‐intercalation film‐casting technique. X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy data indicated that montmorillonite layers intercalated with PLL chains coexist with exfoliated layers over a wide range of relative PLL/clay compositions. Differential scanning calorimetry suggests that the presence of clay suppresses crystal formation in PLL relative to the neat polypeptide and slightly decreases the PLL melting temperature. Despite lower crystallinity, dynamic mechanical analysis revealed a significant increase in the storage modulus of PLL with an increase in clay loading producing storage modulus magnitudes on par with traditional engineering thermoplastics. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nitroaminoguanidine (NAG) has been investigated as regards its thermal decomposition characteristics using simultaneous thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and polarising microscopy. XRD studies show thatNAG crystal belongs to the tetragonal system. The crystal structure parameters are found to be:a=17.063±0.005Å,b=17.063±0.005Å,c=5.155±0.005Å andc/a axial ratio=0.302. Under non-isothermal conditions,NAG decomposed apparently in one stage with a loss in weight of 80%. But the thermal decomposition ofNAG in the solid phase under isothermal conditions proceeded through three stages. Both the first and the second stages obeyed theA-E (Avrami Erofee'v) equation forn=1. The 3rd stage is too slow and kinetics has not been attempted. The rate parameters for the first and second stages have been evaluated. Gaseous decomposition products detected using the IR gas cell are NH3, NO2, HCN, N2O, CO and CO2. High temperature IR studies indicate preferential deamination reaction initially indicating breaking of N?NH2 and C?NH2 bonds leading to NH2 radical formation. Addition of diphenylamine, a known chain inhibitor, decelerated the thermal decomposition, supporting a radical chain reaction.  相似文献

A gamma-cyclodextrin dimer modified with two pyrene moieties, 6-(2-pyrenebutylate-aminoethyl)pyrenebutylate-amino-6-deoxy-bis-gamma-cyclodextrin, has been synthesized in the presence of N,N'-dicyclohexycarbodiimide from gamma-cyciodextrin dimer linked with ethylenediamine at an upper rim. The sensing ability and binding property of the titled dimer were investigated for bile acids and endocrine disruptors. This cyclodextrin dimer showed both monomer and excimer fluorescence; the guest-induced emissions were observed as increases or decreases depending on the guest. The values deltaI(m)/I0(m) and deltaI(ex)/I0(ex), where I0(m) and I(m) are fluorescence intensities of monomer emission in the absence and presence of a guest and I0(ex) and I(ex) are those of excimer emission and deltaI(m) and deltaI(ex) were I(m) - I0(m) and I(ex) - I0(ex), respectively, were used as a parameter of sensitivity. This host exhibited highly sensitive molecular recognition ability for bile acids and endocrine disruptors, in which the sensing parameters obtained from monomer emission were plus or minus values, whereas the parameters obtained as excimer emission were minus ones. The behavior of the appended moieties of the host during a host-guest complexation was studied by induced circular dichroism (ICD) and fluorescence spectra. The ICD intensities of the titled dimer were decreased upon an addition of a guest. The guest-induced variations in the fluorescence and ICD intensity suggest that the appended moieties move by altering the spatial relationship in the hydrophobic space between two linked cyclodextrins.  相似文献

Experimental results on the shock structure of dual co-axial jets are presented. The effects of the geometric parameters of the inner nozzle, jet static pressure ratio (ratio of the exit plane static pressures of the inner and outer nozzles) and the ratio of outer to inner nozzle throat area on the shock structure were studied. A superimposed outer and inner jet structure was observed in the schlieren photographs. The inner flow is compressed by the outer flow resulting in the formation of a Mach disc and an exit shock. A parameter incorporating the effect of Mach number of the inner nozzle and jet static pressure ratio was found to correlate the observations regarding the Mach disc location.  相似文献
