We show both theoretically and experimentally in an optical fiber system that a noninstantaneous nonlinear environment supports the existence of spectral incoherent solitons. Contrary to conventional solitons, spectral incoherent solitons do not exhibit a confinement in the spatiotemporal domain, but exclusively in the frequency domain. The theory reveals that the causality condition inherent to the nonlinear response function is the key property underlying the existence of spectral incoherent solitons. These solitons constitute nonequilibrium stable states of the incoherent field and are shown to be robust with respect to binary collisions.  相似文献

Electronic properties of liquid water were analysed by a sequential molecular dynamics (MD)/density functional theory approach. MD simulations are based on a polarisable model for water. Emphasis was placed on the prediction of the water dipole moment, liquid state polarisability, ionisation potential (IP), and vertical electron affinity. The dipole moment of the water molecule in liquid water is not dependent on the number of molecules included in the quantum mechanical calculations. The polarisability of the water molecule in liquid water is 4% lower than its gas phase value. The IP of liquid water (9.7 ± 0.06 eV) is in good agreement with recent experimental data.  相似文献

Cp*ZrMe3 reacts with silica pretreated at 800 degrees C, SiO(2-(800)) through two pathways: (a) protolysis of a Zr-Me group by surface silanols and (b) transfer of a methyl group to the surface by opening of strained siloxane bridges, in a relative proportion of ca. 9/1, respectively, affording a well-defined surface species [([triple bond]SiO)ZrCp*(Me)2], 3, but with two different local environments 3a, [([triple bond]SiO)ZrCp*(Me)2][[triple bond]Si-O-Si[triple bond]], and the other with 3b, [structure: see text]. The reaction of the species 3 with B(C6F5)3 is controlled by this local environment and gives three surface species [([triple bond]SiO)ZrCp*(Me)](+)[MeB(C6F5)3]- [[triple bond]Si-O-Si[triple bond]], 4a (20%), [([triple bond]SiO)ZrCp*(Me)](+)[(Me)B(C6F5)3]- [[triple bond]Si-Me], 4b (10%), and [([triple bond]SiO)2ZrCp*](+)[(Me)B(C6F5)(3)](-)[[triple bond]Si-O-Si[triple bond]], 5 (70%). On the contrary, the reaction of Cp*Zr(Me)3, Cp2Zr(Me)2 with [[triple bond]SiO-B(C6F5)3](-)[HNEt2Ph]+, 6, leads to a unique species [([triple bond]SiO)B(C6F5)3](-)[Cp*Zr(Me)2.NEt2Ph]+, 7, and [([triple bond]SiO)ZrCp2](+)[(Me)B(C6F5)3]-, 9 respectively. The complexes 4 and 7 are active catalysts in ethylene polymerization at room temperature, 93 and 67 kg PE mol Zr1- atm(-1) bar(-1), respectively, indicating that covalently bounded Zr catalyst 4 is slightly more active than the "floating" cationic catalyst 7.  相似文献

This review provides a short overview of polymeric thin films incorporating molecular imprints within their 3D macromolecular structure as synthetic recognition elements and prepared by in situ polymerization for surface plasmon resonance application. This review starts with a brief reminder of the principle of surface plasmon resonance detection. The second section is focused on molecularly imprinted materials. Bulk and thin film polymer formats can be obtained by free radical polymerization, where the functional monomer interacts specifically with the template and the cross-linker controls the rigidity of the imprinted cavities. Grafting polymerization is presented as a method of choice for covalent attachment of ultra-thin molecularly imprinted films on a surface plasmon resonance metallic substrate. Examples of electropolymerized thin films are also provided. In the rest of this contribution, surface plasmon resonance applications of molecularly imprinted polymers reported mainly over the last two years are presented with respect to the preparation mode. Also, applications of gold nanoparticle/molecularly imprinted polymer composites for the design of surface plasmon resonance-based sensors with enhanced sensitivity due to the phenomenon of localized surface plasmon resonance induced by the presence of gold nanoparticles are summarized.  相似文献

Motivated by solid-solid phase transitions in elastic thin films, we perform a Γ-convergence analysis for a singularly perturbed energy related to second order phase transitions in a domain of vanishing thickness. Under a two-wells assumption, we derive a sharp interface model with an interfacial energy depending on the asymptotic ratio between the characteristic length scale of the phase transition and the thickness of the film. In each case, the interfacial energy is determined by an explicit optimal profile problem. This asymptotic problem entails a nontrivial dependance on the thickness direction when the phase transition is created at the same rate as the thin film, while it shows a separation of scales if the thin film is created at a faster rate than the phase transition. The last regime, when the phase transition is created at a faster rate than the thin film, is more involved. Depending on growth conditions of the potential and the compatibility of the two phases, we either obtain a sharp interface model with scale separation, or a trivial situation driven by rigidity effects.  相似文献

The dynamics of waves in weakly nonlinear dispersive media can be described by the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). An important feature of the equation is that it can be derived in a number of different physical contexts; therefore, analogies between different fields, such as for example fiber optics, water waves, plasma waves and Bose–Einstein condensates, can be established. Here, we investigate the similarities between wave propagation in optical Kerr media and water waves. In particular, we discuss the modulation instability (MI) in both media. In analogy to the water wave problem, we derive for Kerr-media the Benjamin–Feir index, i.e. a nondimensional parameter related to the probability of formation of rogue waves in incoherent wave trains.  相似文献

In this paper, we numerically and experimentally study two methods to generate 20-GHz pulse trains at 1550 nm from a dual-frequency beat-signal. The first method is based on the multiple four-wave mixing temporal compression occurring in the anomalous dispersion regime of a standard optical fiber (SMF). In the second original method, the initial sinusoidal signal is first converted into a parabolic pulses train through nonlinear propagation in a normally dispersive fiber. A subsequent linear compression in an anomalous dispersive fiber leads to well-separated picosecond pulses.  相似文献

This note examines some criticisms recently addressed to our original derivation for the direct measurement of the effective charge number in a semiconducting compound which possibly presents various mobile defects. It is shown that these critics are not reasonable and that the alternative derivation which is proposed represents a simplified verion of the original one only valid in a particular case which certainly permits a better intuitive approach than the general treatment based on linear irreversible thermodynamics.  相似文献

The measurements of stable selenium (Se) isotopic signatures by multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) are very challenging, due to the presence of spectral interferences and the low abundance of Se in environmental samples. We systematically investigated the effect of methane addition on the signal of Se isotopes and their interferences. It is the first time that the effect of methane addition has been assessed for all Se isotopes and its potential interferences using hydride generator multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HG-MC-ICP-MS). Our results show that a small methane addition increases the sensitivity. However, the response differs between a hydride generator and a standard introduction system, which might be related to differences in the ionization processes. Both argon and hydrogen-based interferences, the most common spectral interferences on selenium isotopes in HG-MC-ICP-MS, decrease with increasing methane addition. Therefore, analyte-interference ratios and precision are improved. Methane addition has thus a high potential for the application to stable Se isotopes ratios by HG-MC-ICP-MS.  相似文献
