Synthesis and characteristics of the mass spectra of 2,5-dimercapto-2,5-dimethyltetrahydrothiophene

2,5-Dimercapto-2,5-dimethyltetrahyrothiophene was synthesized by the reaction of 1-iodopropan-2-one with hydrogen sulfide in an ether solution of hydrogen chloride at-70°C. Standard enthalpy and heat capacity of solid tin telluride

The published data on the heat capacity of tin telluride were analyzed. The C _p values were demonstrated to be consistent only at temperatures below 56 K. Some data on the heat capacity of SnTe within 80–453 K were found to differ significantly. The heat capacity C _p was measured on a DSM-2M calorimeter within a temperature range of 350–600 K and other thermodynamic functions of tin telluride were calculated.

The process of modifying the surface of particles of dispersed polymer fillers, using tensides, has been studied. The main principles were established with regard to the effect of modification of titanium dioxide and kaolin on the structure formation in solutions and block formations of chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) resin and rubber, depending on the nature and concentration of the modifier. The decisive part played by chemisorption of the tenside in lyophilization (water-repellency treatment) of the surface of the filler and its activation, as a structure former, has been elucidated.     

A role of non-hydrogen framework vibrational modes in formation of ferroelectric properties of H-bonded K3H(SO4)2-like materials

An effect of molecular vibrational modes within the dimers [O₃AO–(H/D)OAO₃]³⁻ on behavior of H-bond protons or deuterons is studied theoretically for H-bonded antiferroelectrics and quantum paraelectrics of the M₃(H/D)(AO₄)₂ family (M=alkali metal, A=S, Se). The ‘heavy’ reorganization modes in D-species of this family and both reorganization and promoting modes in corresponding H-analogues are examined. It is shown that the analysis with due regard for the reorganization modes results in insignificant decreasing of the effective tunneling frequency of light nuclei. Hence the reasonable estimations of the critical temperature of the low-temperature phase transition in M₃D(AO₄)₂ materials are available only with additional corrections related to potential profiles of a deuteron. It is noted that in the limits of the proposed model the promoting mode in the case of H-species can favor, in principle, the increasing as well as the decreasing of effective proton level splitting.     

Stabilizing Potential of Solid-Contact Sensors Selective towards Surface-Active Substances

Electrochemical and operation parameters of solid-contact sensors with silver and graphite current leads selective towards surface-active substances (SAS) are studied. Graphite has advantage as an electronic conductor. Parameters of solid-contact SAS electrodes with graphite (response time, potential drift, lifetime) are more stable, and the electrodes have a lower SAS detection limit.

聚环硫氯丙烷或环硫氯丙烷与环氧氯丙烷共聚物，在少量二乙烯三胺存在下制得交联预聚物，将交联预聚物分别与硫代硫酸钠，叠氮化钠反应，制得四种侧链带有硫代硫酸根或叠氮基的新型螯合树脂。它们对贵金属离子具有较高的吸附容量和较好的吸附选择性。     

Measurement of complex dielectric constant of inhomogeneous materials in the range 102–107 Hz

A method of measuring the complex dielectric constant of a mixture composed of a disperse substance and water by insertion of dielectric spacers between the electrodes and the investigated substance is discussed. This system exhibits relaxation of the Maxwell-Wagner type in the conductivity range 10^–8–10^{–2 –1}·m^–1. By constructing and analyzing Cole-Cole diagrams it is possible to determine the complex dielectric constant of mixtures with a water content of 1–100 wt.% in the frequency range 10²–10⁷ Hz.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 9, pp. 40–46, September, 1978.     

Investigation in the field of pyrimidines

The alkylation of 2-amino-4-methyl-6-oxopyrimidine and 2-amino-6-chloro-4-methylpyrimidine with acrylonitrile in an aqueous alkaline medium takes place at the ring nitrogen with the formation of 2-amino-1-(-carboxyethyl)-4-methyl-6-oxopyrimidine (I). A number of esters of compound I have been obtained in the form of hydrochlorides.
