A new nondestructive method for measuring the spatial distribution of chromatic dispersion along an optical fiber is presented. It is based on using Brillouin optical time-domain analysis to probe the power distribution of the four-wave mixing generated by two continuous-wave lasers. The results obtained prove that this new method is capable of providing better performance than comparable techniques. Furthermore, sensing the variations of Brillouin gain maximum produces additional information about the fiber, such as presence of strain and concentration of GeO2.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to calculate the prevalence and incidence of voice disorders among teaching staff and find out the associated occupational risk factors. A case-control study was performed with 905 teachers, 579 cases and 326 controls; 492 were randomly selected and 413 volunteered. All teachers were asked to fill out a standard questionnaire. Next, a complete laryngeal exam was performed including a general ear, nose, and throat evaluation and videolaryngostroboscopy. The prevalence of voice disorders among teaching staff was 57%. The most prevalent lesions were vocal overstrain (18%), nodular lesions (14%), and hyperfunctional dysphonia (8%). The incidence rate was 3.87 new cases per year per 1000 teachers. Women had organic lesions three times more than men (odds ratio [OR]: 3.52, confidence interval [CI]: 2.04-6.09). However, men had chronic laryngitis three times more than women (OR: 2.93, CI: 1.50-5.71) and functional dysphonia nearly twice more than women (OR: 1.81, CI: 1.21-2.69). We find a significant risk of suffering voice disorders in teachers who smoke daily (OR: 2.31, CI: 1.58-3.37) and who drink several cups of coffee or tea (OR: 1.87, CI: 1.36-2.56). It is advisable to carry out an annual evaluation of all teaching staff on account of the high prevalence of voice disorders among them.  相似文献

In this work we report the preparation of magnetic hematite hollow sub-micron spheres (??-Fe2O3) by colloidal suspensions of ferric nitrate nine-hydrate (Fe(NO3)3·9H2O) particles in citric acid solution by following the sol?Cgel method. After the gel formation, the samples were annealed at different temperatures in an oxidizing atmosphere. Annealing at 180°C resulted in an amorphous phase, without iron oxide formation. Annealing at 250°C resulted in coexisting phases of hematite, maghemite and magnetite, whereas at 400°C, only hematite and maghemite were found. Pure hematite hollow sub-micron spheres with porous shells were formed after annealing at 600°C. The characterization was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).  相似文献

The structural evolution of orthorhombic CaTiO3 perovskite has been studied using high-pressure single-crystal x-ray diffraction under hydrostatic conditions up to 8.1 GPa and under a non-hydrostatic stress field formed in a diamond anvil cell (DAC) up to 4.7 GPa. Under hydrostatic conditions, the TiO6 octahedra become more tilted and distorted with increasing pressure, similar to other 2:4 perovskites. Under non-hydrostatic conditions, the experiments do not show any apparent difference in the internal structural variation from hydrostatic conditions and no additional tilts and distortions in the TiO6 octahedra are observed, even though the lattice itself becomes distorted due to the non-hydrostatic stress. The similarity between the hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic cases can be ascribed to the fact that CaTiO3 perovskite is nearly elastically isotropic and, as a consequence, its deviatoric unit-cell volume strain produced by the non-hydrostatic stress is very small; in other words, the additional octahedral tilts relevant to the extra unit-cell volume associated with the deviatoric unit-cell volume strain may be totally neglected. This study further addresses the role that three factors--the elastic properties, the crystal orientation and the pressure medium--have on the structural evolution of an orthorhombic perovskite loaded in a DAC under non-hydrostatic conditions. The influence of these factors can be clearly visualized by plotting the three-dimensional distribution of the deviatoric unit-cell volume strain in relation to the cylindrical axis of the DAC and indicates that, if the elasticity of a perovskite is nearly isotropic as it is for CaTiO3, the other two factors become relatively insignificant.  相似文献

We analyze the geometry of a rotating disk with a tangential acceleration in the framework of the theory of Special Relativity, using the kinematic linear differential system that verifies the relative position vector of time-like curves in a Fermi reference. We present a systematic study of the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) at high temperatures (T≧4 MeV) in the framework of a semiclassical approximation that uses them 1 andm 3 RPA sum rules to estimate the GDR mean energy. We focus on the evolution withT of the collective nature of the GDR and of theL=0, 2, 3 and 4 isoscalar resonances. We find that the GDR remains particularly collective at highT, suggesting that it might be possible to observe it experimentally even at temperatures close to the maximum one a nucleus can sustain.  相似文献

We present the synthesis of 4′-amino-4-mercaptobiphenyl (AMB) and its deposition from solution onto Au(111) substrates. The resulting organic thin films were characterized by contact angle, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) measurements. It is demonstrated that the majority of AMB molecules are coupled to the gold surface via S–Au covalent bonds, although only little orientational order of the AMB layer could be detected by NEXAFS. Furthermore, aromatic imine bonds between AMB and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (HB), 4-carboxybenzaldehyde (CB), 4-methylbenzaldehyde (MB), or 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzaldehyde (TMB) have been successfully formed. As a result of the limited order, this coupling reaction was incomplete. Nevertheless, the experimental results confirmed the formation of conjugated aromatic imine bonds.  相似文献

Phases of carbon are studied up to pressures of 1 petapascal (PPa) using first-principles density-functional-theory methods and a structure searching algorithm. Our extensive search over the potential energy surface supports the sequence of transitions diamond → BC8 → simple cubic under increasing pressure found in previous theoretical studies. At higher pressures we predict a soft-phonon driven transition to a simple hexagonal structure at 6.4 terapascals (TPa), and further transitions to the face centered cubic electride structure at 21 TPa, a double hexagonal close packed structure at 270 TPa, and the body centered cubic structure at 650 TPa.  相似文献

We study the small mass limit (or: the Smoluchowski–Kramers limit) of a class of quantum Brownian motions with inhomogeneous damping and diffusion. For Ohmic bath spectral density with a Lorentz–Drude cutoff, we derive the Heisenberg–Langevin equations for the particle’s observables using a quantum stochastic calculus approach. We set the mass of the particle to equal \(m = m_{0} \epsilon \), the reduced Planck constant to equal \(\hbar = \epsilon \) and the cutoff frequency to equal \(\varLambda = E_{\varLambda }/\epsilon \), where \(m_0\) and \(E_{\varLambda }\) are positive constants, so that the particle’s de Broglie wavelength and the largest energy scale of the bath are fixed as \(\epsilon \rightarrow 0\). We study the limit as \(\epsilon \rightarrow 0\) of the rescaled model and derive a limiting equation for the (slow) particle’s position variable. We find that the limiting equation contains several drift correction terms, the quantum noise-induced drifts, including terms of purely quantum nature, with no classical counterparts.  相似文献
